Hi again. My uncle comes from America and 'apparently' the PS3's there are cheaper. He is coming to stay and might buy me a PS3. I was just wondering if I can play PES7 and fifa 08 (from england) on the american PS3.

You should be able to play any games from any region on your PS3. PS3's are region free. But... Sometimes the game makers put region codes in their games which I hope it won't be the case with the pro evo series. We have to wait and see I guess...

And on there they were talking about region free and they did say you can buy a PS3 game from another region but to play it you have to play it via is it HMDI on a HDTV ..

Yeah I just remembered that I read that also. Basically we'll need to have a HD tv to play European games with our consoles. Because of the format difference;)

So if I have an American PS3, can I still play the 'English' games even if I don't have a HD tv? =S

is HDTV a requirement to play PS3? I think not, you don't need a HDTV to play it!
@NiTrOsNiKeR1: remember PS3 in the US uses NTSC signal to NTSC TV, while in Europe it's PAL instead of NTSC. It might not work for you and you'll need a new TV that can handle NTSC and/or PAL signal, that's not to say if the US PS3 might not play games from anywhere else other than games for the US. Read this for a bit more info

I didn't say you need a HD tv to play PS3 now did I? If you wanna play games from different regions on your American PS3 then you will need a HD tv since HD tv's support PAL/NTSC signals;)

Just by a PC or New Mac and your problem is solved.
A new PES game usually runs for $20.00...
And the hardware to play the game is fairly cheap.. I'm running WE10 on a MacBook with Intel945. And you can play online fairly easily and download patches etc..
