Atlético Agree €19m Simão Deal

Atlético de Madrid have reached an agreement to sign Simão Sabrosa from Benfica for a fee of around €19m, according to reports in Portugal.

Damn.. Nani, Anderson, Pepe, Simao, all great players getting bought out of our league

This team was already f*cked even before the departure of Simão. Now, Benfica can effectively kiss any chance of qualifying for the Champions League, or even winning a trophy goodbye. We're just going to piss the money away on sh*tty Brazillians that most of us have never heard of. Well, unless it ends up in the pockets of the clowns that run this club. No wonder I'm not looking forward to the upcoming season, I just can't see us finishing in the top 5 based on the squad we've got now.

I thought Quarsema was leaving... just a matter of time for Moutinho....

Good luck.

(N) crappiest post ever, really, with all the respect.

First... Zoro, Coentrão, Oscar Cardozo, Bergessio, Sretenovic, Manuel Fernandes and Butt aren't brazillian, unless they just made a sudden change of nationality that I am not aware of.

We have the most balanced squad of the past decade, no point on arguing on that, it's a known fact, if the players we bought will adapt or not, nobody knows, but THIS time you can't blame our board on the acquisitions that we made, for the first time since LFV is on the charge we bought quality players, the best players of their teams.

Oh and before posting all that you should at least inform yourself, LFV said in an interview with Judite de Sousa that Simão was only leaving if someone would pay his buy out clause, which is 25 Million Euros, not 19, we aren't dumb to sell our Liga's best player for that price, so unless anyone pays that, he's not leaving.

This thread is absolutely pointless, since Atletico de Madrid board as already denied that they even made a proposal for Simão.

Alright, cut me some slack, because I had just woken up when I made that post. I took your word and compared the signings that the Grandes have made so far this summer. Porto haven't really impressed, unless they have an ace up their sleeve. The only signings they've made so far that are going to make an impact are Mariano González and possibly Kaz. Sporting have done better, signing Vukcevic and Stojkovic, a pair of players that are regulars for their countries that are young and with bright futures. OK, maybe I went irrationally overboard, but at least we've signed players in key areas. Fábio Coentrão will hopefully become a first team regular, while Cardozo burned a hole through the net at Newell's. Should he become starting goalkeeper, Butt will be useful at both ends, since he can also take penalties and Zoro......well, um, I can't really say anything about him, but I'm sure he can do a job. So maybe it isn't all doom and gloom. However, I'm still skeptical that this team can gel together and challenge for honours this season.

Nobody can actually predict that, we can only be confident that things were well done this time.

:)

Just hilarious!

30 million each? Not, but they are worth 20 million at least...

About Simão's...if he goes, the dependence of Simão will be finally over, and I will be curious about who will take over the assists for Benfica...

Simao has signed his career away

athletico are a waste team, who consistently underperform, whoever they buy

anyway its time for some of the next generation of portugesee youngsters to come though it seems a lot of key players gone and will be going, (im 99% sure quaresma will leave) as for lucho, he'll leave, surley there will be a team out there willing to pay big money for a quality player

Clásula de rescisão...

Not always clubs are that dumb to pay that, you either negotiate them in a lower price or they stay in Lisbon.

Do you really believe their value is 30 Million Euros? The clause only exists to give clubs some espaço de manobra...

Johnny_Big
21-07-2007, 11:13:AM
Exactly. I can't see both of them leaving for that value, except if Sporting does a very wonderful season, especially in Europe...
