I´ve bought Rugby 2001. I must say the game is perfect! Its a little bit difficult to understand all controls and moves; but it has a great tutorial that teaches a lot of moves and rules.

When I first played Fifa 2001, I thought: "Ok, the game is ok but not as good as PSX - winning eleven". 10 matches later, I was bored.

1) Hundreds of bicycle kicks.
2) Goalies reaching impossible balls. (And EA promised to change that)
3) Always the same way to score a goal.
4) etc. etc.

Comparing both games (fifa 2001 and rugby 2001) I must say that EA loves rugby and hates soccer. Or maybe, they have never been in a soccer stadium;or, they only have 2 Videos:

1) 100 Best goals ever (75 bicycle kicks)
2) Best goalkeepers vol. 2

Sorry, I'm a little bit pissed off. I've never played N64 ISS editions, but the ones for SNES where great games.

I was waiting for the south-american issue, but now I will download a PSX emulator.I think Winning eleven is 10 times better than Fifa 2001. Thank you for your time.

I guess you have not tried FA Premier League Stars from EA, its my FAV PC Soccer game.

- power bar for shot
- power bar for pass
- power bar for through pass
- power bar is good, and is not too fast
- you can lob over goalie
- ball path is NOT SCRIPTED
- KIT SELECTION!!!!!!!!!
- Many Staduims to choose from
- AWESOME weather effectS! they look really AMAZING!
- gameplay is the best by far
- bigger pitch and the players are all spread out, so no pinball effect
- bicycles are not a dime a dozen as they r in FIFA 2001
- bald players really do look bald
- 360 spin is GONE!

"The through passes are incredibly good, you can dive with your player. Sometimes you are shown a yellow card as an example for realism. But the best thing is;
it looks like football, you are playing..." HagiArif

Yeah! The game is really great! Although I am a Football Fan, Rugby 2001 is much better than Fifa 2001, much more realistic. The commentary is great, they always name the ones who tackles or scores a try. And the game play is very rough and never boring.
You will never see Jonah Lomu flying 20 yards to catch the ball. (But you will see David Seaman catching an impossible bicycle kick, performed by Nelson Vivas (???) )

I think that fifa 2001 should have a lot of features that rugby 2001 already has.

Yeah!

1) Commentary is great and spontaneous.
2) They name the players when they tackle or score a try. (when they are offside or injured too)
3) Crowds sound better in this game
4) The commentator tells the story and a short description of every stadium.
5) There are no "special moves" or "super runs"
6) The wind changes the direction of the ball. When you have a kick, you have to take care of wind.
7) You can personalize controls.
8) Training mode is great. (Training mode in fifa 2001 sucks)
9) You will never see Jonah Lomu "fly" 10 yards across the field to intercept a pass.
(But you will see David Seaman catch -without giving a rebound- a superb bicycle kick performed by Nelson Vivas (???) )
10) The commentators use specific names or commentaries for each team or player. They say (sometimes) "the Pumas" instead of Argentina. Or "very easy kick for the golden boot" when Quesada has to kick.

Yeah, I think Fifa 2001 has a lot to learn from Rugby 2001. (Made by the same Company, made by the same people?)

Thanks, I'll try it!!

I hope this game looks more realistic than Fifa 2001.

PS: I've scored with a bicycle kick from outside the box. pathetic.

Moleskow:

Rugby2001 is great isn't it?
The commentray is perfect.
The commentary is not just like in fifa2001 but they als have conversations between each other on rugby subjects.
Wish they would put that into fifa
