I used to be a huge fan of death and melodic death metal, and other types of metal. There's so many subgenres out there, it's rediculous. However, I still listen to it from time to time.

I'm more of a melodic metal type of guy, but alternative and some Nu Metal are good too. Of course there are good ones in almost each genre. (except that I don't really like death metal)
