1) Yes, you can use CM with no problems.
2) It mainly enhances the AI, but with a little persuading, I am sure referee's could be tweaked ;)
3) Yes, more like PES, but butter!

World Evolution 2008 is not far away now. I can officially announce the bug fixes;

-Ball physics fixed for true natural bounce [this is actually still being tuned]
-Lag fixed
-delay bugs fixed [there are still delays, will tell more on this below]
-Directional errors fixed [player control]

Ok guys, so delays. The delays are the key to challenge. Without a realistic delay you just have defenders running around out of space, giving away passing lanes and helping you out on attack (which is not what you want). So the delays are very much in there. The only thing is that they are tuned up so good that you don't notice the 'stop and start' of the player handlingm instead if the CPU attacker is simply better than you, he'll outclass you in a way which looks more authentic, rather then just stopping and starting the player motion.

I'm working on the defence and attack as this was one of the main area's of feedback. the ball physics will come in nicely here as it will feel more natural to break through a defence.

I've also had feedback saying it reminded someone of FIFA 08 on the next-gen platform!! Which is fantastic. I doubt it quite does that, but for someone to think it is very rewarding and strives me to do my best. Which is why WE2008 has been delayed to get the most out of this release.

the update is designed for FIFA 07, I am not yet working on any update for FIFA 08. :)

Ok some news;

*Ball physics are re-designed for rain-weather for ultimate realism. Ball bounce on passing is very realitic.

*Hacking down players' from behind is much more risky and will result in red-cards more often. Bad pushes inside the box will cause penalty kicks more often also.

But I wanted ask a few more questions. First off, is will the pace of the gameplay be slowed down more? For example I hate it when a player has the ball and suddenly everybody from the opposing team runs towards him...it's not realistic. Are we going to see players walking on the picth due to fatigue, or will they still run nonstop?

And also, is this patch GUARNTEED to imporve gameplay? Because I have read some posts in which people complained that it made the AI more stupid, not smarter...I wonder why...

The CPU close down quicker, taking away easy passing options and runs, but they don't throw all men forward either so you get that feeling that you have time to pass. The game is more midfield based rather than end-to-end. the CPU may have a few cheap shots in now and then, realistically. I think that's right. real teams do when they find space, players' hit it. The shot mechanic is hard to master now.

games are slower, resulting in less real chances created by both sides. You can of course pop in a scorcher, that of which I did today on semi-pro for a 16 min match V germany as England. was losing 2-0 upto 81st min and got some space with gerrard and BANG straight in top corner from pretty far out. I jumped out my chair!! But after that Germany threw everyone into defence and I couldn't get into their half properly cause they kept shutting me off and trying to make it 3-1, they didn't do it but I still lost 2-1. great game.

I then loaded up the same match only on legendary and was losing in the 1st half 4-0 lol. I didn't play the 2nd half. the cpu is much better I believe then my past efforts. they have the attack, but now more then ever they have the defence.

**latest news update**

The lower difficulty modes will be challenging, but the user goalkeeper will be very, very skilful. He'll keep you in the game a lot more. On the high levels of play mainly World Class and Legendary, the goalkeepers are better than in recent beta's, saving all sorts of attempts. But the best shots from top players' will more than likely cause a lot of problems especially on legendary. This is for the realism I strive for.


I wish WE2008 to be compared to the FIFA 08 demo, as I am interested in what you all think and take on it. I am sure there will be mixed opinions.

The update is totally new and doesn't require any additional downloads.

I just played as portugal at home to Ururguay on semi-pro for 16 mins and came out the game with an unlucky 2-0. I should have scored but I juuust missed a couple of chances.

So I thought 'legendary won't be much harder" and before the 2nd half of my re-match I was 6-0 down. Let me tell you, legendary is not nice! My goalkeepers made mistakes, my attack got stopped by the defence and the cpu attack was like "HERE WE COME, CHAAAARGE!!!". Totally different experience to the lower difficulty. What I've managed here is to make it literally for legendary players'. If you're just 'alright' at the game I'd stick yourself on amateur or semi-pro, seriously!! At least give it a go on there first.

Even you SSJ! Serious bro, this update will take your 6 goals you score and put 10 past you LOL. It just presses for goals until it gets one, then again and again. It's actually pretty mean experience playing on legendary. I obviously can't handle my own creation. WHAT HAVE I DONE?! hahahahaha.:amika:

A balance? My friend this isn't about a balance, not on legendary. The EA SPORTS pattern for difficulty through-out the current generation of their football games has been to give the CPU advantages on each increasing difficulty level. This is the same pattern I follow but more to an extreme to ensure playing against the CPU is a challenge. Since you guys have now played 07 over a year and are trained up to the point where all a balance would do is allow you to exploit the CPU, even EA know not to do that and their gameplay is far easier to beat. Why would I want to make the game easier?! Like EA think, I would say Legendary is down to your defence and attack, not your goalkeeper as on Amateur since players' on that level can't defend well and require a better keeper, those on legendary should be able to defend correctly.


If you're telling my lovely gameplay that you are a legend at FIFA 07, do you think it should be nice to you Mr.SSJ? Or try and prove you wrong?!! I think the latter is more impressive to beat, since it pretty much attempts to ruin your FIFA 07 career!

A good tip would be if you sense the CPU pressing for a couple of quick goals to do one on you, switch your mentality to defensive. Either that or they'll pop one past you. But knowing you are playing defensive ensures you. The CPU push up the field at a realistic distance so you won't be giving too many counter-attacks away. There's more midfield action.

The challenge is on matey!! If you master this after a couple of games I'd go buy yourself an xbox 360 and try the FIFA 08 demo for next-gen. It's the best football simulation I've ever played.

Just coming back to this comment. I doubt very much you will master it. You may win some games, but if you created your own tournament and picked the best teams and had groups and knock-outs kinda like a custom World Class. My money is on you wouldn't win every match, which is good.

Poster No.164 may play any world class match in WC98 then flame out. I'm with you NK, since I also want to change FIFA98 gameplay like your way but no AI files available to edit. I'm annoyed by its 'catch-up' logic because I've seen many stronger teams being brought down by minnow ones.:gavin:

PS I have already broken an external monitor shield 2 years ago because I used Brazil and lost to Mexicans by 2-3 in a WC98 friendly match...:eek:
