It takes about 2 minutes to estables a Direct IP connection! Is that normal??

It could at least have a percenteg bar so we know how long to wait.

Where do I suggest that??

Nope. My friend and i have played using Direct IP and it is instant. We had the other person go in first, then wait for the host to go in. I think it's faster that way, you could try it out. We were both using 56k modem.

you can try pinging your opponent first before trying to connect...
go to dos prompt and type ping xxxxxxxxx
xxxxx being the IP address of your opponent..

250 or less is quite smooth...

When I say it takes a long time I mean after connection and before playing!

It sometimes stops completely, (modem is blinking away franticly). takes about 2 minutes (when I'm luck).

Is their something I have to configure in particular to play, in the dial up network??
