View Full Version : PSG Paulet
Num Lock 27-08-2007, 06:30:PM there are strong rumours in Paris about the transfer of our beloved captain to Galatasaray, can some of the Gala fans confirm/deny this rumours, if it has any base or something.
i think i speak for all the PSG fans when i say that we want to see him retire wearing the rouge et bleu
Num Lock 27-08-2007, 06:44:PM the thread was supposed to be titled PSG Pauleta :(
guess i didn't hit my "A" key hard enough.....
Guillaume 27-08-2007, 09:16:PM Great penalty yesterday! (Y) I don't like him, I think you know why, but Pauleta is still a good player and I think Ligue 1 needs him.. More than 130 goals in France, great perform. It's true he's a bit old; but without him, who can score in Paris? Diané? Frau? Luyindula? Average players, that's all...
Filipower 27-08-2007, 09:22:PM haha, he's like every year top goalscorer and now they want to let him go? what a joke..
Azrael 27-08-2007, 09:27:PM Isn't PSG going through financial problems? Selling him would raise them some good cash. Beside, if they do play on making money off him, might as well be now, he ain't getting younger.
Guillaume 27-08-2007, 09:38:PM Financial problems, not really. Colony Capital bought PSG last year, and they don't want to give money for transfers. Last 3 seasons, they bought Yepes, Armand, Rothen, Kalou for something like 25-30M€ for all, and huge wages but results were crap. Except Kalou, who go to Lens for only 1,5M€ all this palyers are still in Paris, so it's expensive..
I guess they don't want to do same transfer politic now.. It's a reason why they bought good young players as Didier Digard from Le Havre in L2, so pretty cheap. And we can see good players from PSG Academy like Clément Chantome Yussuf Mulumbu, David N'Gog, Mouhamadou Sakho, who are playing in France NT in their age category or Younouss Sankharé, Loris Arnaud..
Concerning Pauleta, last year, Lyon have tried to buy him, they wanted to give him an amazing wage (same for Ribéry with l'OM), and Paris gave him a huge wage to keep him. But he only scored 15 goals, and he's a bit old at present so, he could leave France before August 31th..
only 15 goals? I know strikers rated way, way better than Pauleta that don't get more than 10.
hell Marica scored 10 goals in 2 seasons and look where he's playing now.
snoppf1 27-08-2007, 10:08:PM i hate pauleta, god hes brilliant in france and for the national team against poor teams but useless anywhere else
someone who totally losses it at the highest level
he'll do well in turkey, he wont against fenerrbache, or maybe besiktas but he will do well
Filipower 27-08-2007, 10:19:PM he was great in Deportivo too, so..

Pauleta is a great striker, period. The fact that much people don't like him it's because he doesn't do that fancy tricks and sh*t, he's just there to do his job which is scoring goals, people just don't seem to give him enough credit, he passed Eusébio on goals for our NT, i know now there are much more games, and there are weaker teams and bla bla, and he can't even be compared to Eusébio, but that must mean something. He also seems like a good lad.
One problem tho is that he can't play alone upfront, not being the kind of striker that comes back to get the ball, not being a fast player, not being able to dribble a player of course that when he plays alone, when the space between the midfield and his position is big, he won't be able to do much, because he's just not that kind of player. And that's why when we (Portugal) play with big teams he tends to disappear, because we play in a defensive style which won't give him much ball. He has lots of qualities like great heading, great shot, great instinct and he's good at free-kicks, but most important is that he scores, a lot, and the rest is irrelevant.

i've said this a few times, but the problems Pauleta has at NT level are his teammates, last world cup i watched countless times as his teammates instead of passing it to him, they all tried to finish the play and ended up losing the ball and not scoring, the only player who actually tried playing with him was Deco.
i srsly don't want him to leave, but Paul LeGuen is being an ass to him.

the penalty is what i call karma, since it wasn't really to begin with, he missed it :)
Diané is pretty closed to being loaned out at least
PAF is not the kinda striker that we need hes good doing his thing but he ain't no Pauleta replacement
Luyindula is kinda decent (or at least better than Kalou or Pancrate :p) even though he's a reject from your team....
this is looking like another long season for us.
ps: again if any of the galatasaray fans around can confirm/deny it'll be totally awesome, i hope its just a rumor
MaSsiVe 27-08-2007, 11:54:PM good striker, average player.
Theodorakis 28-08-2007, 06:46:AM there were rumours in turkish media about pauleta going to galatasaray but I think gala cooled their interest on him.

hmm maybe you have a point, postiga was the same in the cl and in that game against brazil, in a way. tbh i think he would've done a better job than pauleta in the matches he played, a testement to postiga's talent.
the way portugal (and porto play like this i've noticed), is that the lone striker is detached from the way in which the team play, the striker either feeds of any spilt shots, chances etc... and just in general being a fox in the box
still me not liking him has nothing to do with him having no 'skill moves' you dont need those to become world class, i tell a lot of people that myself, the biggest example is roy keane.
it is a shame with his talents you cant compare him to eusebio
one way in which you dont have a point is euro 2004, it not like he didn't have the chances .especially the game against holland
