I found that Napoli font is a generic Diadora font which is used also by other teams this year. So here it comes with the whole range of colors.

Another font for a Serie A club. A hint for kitmakers: would you make a pack for Cagliari (and Siena, which has the same Umbro design)? If I could, I would choose for a FIFA 08 version with the latest template, so that we can use the kits with the upcoming complete game. Minikits are welcome as well (furthermore they have the same template as last year's).

Time for me to ask a noobie question. Is it possible to install your .fsh files from CM07? Or CM07 only supports .png's? I always use File Master 07 to import fonts. You can use it also for importing fonts into FIFA 08 demo, just change the root directory in File Master 07 from FIFA 07 to FIFA 08 demo folder.
I don't edit my fonts in png format, so I cannot post them with such extension and so you can't import them with CM07, although it could be a very simple and effective tool for importing fonts.

Hey Fiordy, Great work on the EPL fonts. As far as other colors, I would suggest Dark Red (18?) for West Ham away shorts etc. and a lighter blue (61) or (60) to compliment Birmingham away Everton home shorts... but neither of them are crucial. I found myself amazed that the entire league utilizes only five colors. Thanks you very much for your great work.

Hey Fiordy, I wonder if you could make some French Ligue fonts. I have already the ones made by Cripek. But I don't know if he will even do them again. Also, I don't know if teams will be using the same colors I've got. E.g. I know Monaco uses a golden font, which Cripek never made. I found a much more easy way for importing fonts into the F08 demo.
Simply use BIGGUI and import the fshfile, rebuild the datafiles with FatBHbuilder 0.9 and it works fine ingame.
Make sure to use DBMaster to assign the right font to the right team/kit of course (Y)

That's all thought I share it with you to use the fanstastic fonts that Fiordy made.

I am using dbMaster to change the kit numbers for the teams but it either does not show the font or it uses the same font for both teams. I have been using bigGUI to install the actual fonts themself. How can I fix the problem?

Ok guys, I'm able to import fonts even now with the existing programs.

1. Open File Master 07, browse FIFA 08 directory and look for the the zdata your font is in.

2. Import the fsh file of the new font into the zdata, overwriting the existing one.

3. After the importation the program will show an error message, ignore it, just click on "close program" and you're done.

4. Match the right font ID with the respective team using DBMaster or UniDB.

how do you "adjust the font number" with DB Master?

Change the 'jerseynumber' in the fifa.db
Go the the team ID for instance nr 241 for Barca and change the jerseynumber to 700 (in this case the font ID for Barca that Marco made).

Silencer, Im trying to use this method to edit my full game. I've found in zdata_09.big the same .fsh details so I take they are the ones I import therefore replacing those fonts? Can you confirm this before I f@#k up my game (I'm backing up zdata_09.big before I try it, I just want some reassurance.

Ashman do NOT i repeat, do NOT use FatBH Builder 0.9 or your game will be f*cked for sure.
Simply import the fsh files into a newly made zdata file (for instance zdata_70.big) that you can make with BIGGUI. Use the same program to import the fshfile into that zdata file.
Then rebuild with with Monkey Dragon's FS5xx Rebuilder cause that's the ONLY program that rebuilds your files and keeps your game alive ;)
You can download it from MD's website (look for the thread here ' visit my website')
Make sure that your fifa.fat file doesn't get too large, when it's larger than 265kb your game will crash. Too make your fifa.fat file much smaller do the next thing.
Export from zdata 40 to 43 all the 212_.. files to your Fifa08 main directory and then delete them all from these zdatafiles why?? You don't need them they are useless for the game. Rebuild again with FS5xx and your fifa.fat file will be something like 236kb or something and now you can safely import faces, boots, ads whatever you like!
It works just fine for me (Y)

OK, did it, thanks again. Ended up my fifa.fat is 230kbs. Now where do I find some fsh files for faces?

Silencer i would like to add; in ZDATA_15 there´s a lot of files named t75__0_0_xxxx.fsh, all of them are generic kits to be used with user created teams, in fifa 07 i removed all those files and my fifa.fat droped in great deal, i think you can do the same in fifa 08.

There´s also other files that could be removed in fifa 08 without any harm. The legendary player faces could be removed, in fifa 07 i did it and fifa.fat droped again, so i leave you with this tips, hope you can use them.

Beginning from the bottom, for the second question you can put those codes (R, G, B) into a graphic editor (usually in the colour picker tool) and you'll obtain the related colour.

First question: FIFA always refers to files by their code (=filename). I don't know what would happen if you put a font fsh file (with already existing code such as 221 for example) into a brand new zdata. I don't know if FIFA would pick the fsh in the original zdata or the one in the new zdata. But it's just a matter of trying, let me know what happens! Usually I've always overwritten existing fsh font files, replacing them with mines.

Exactly! Pay attention to the order (R-G-B, not R-B-G) when you insert the numbers in Photoshop!

Last question, why when I've imported the EPL fonts do they show up in game as black? I imported them into zdata_09.big to replace the existing and rebuilt the zdata files. I even checked the teamkits colour reference in fifa.db file to ensure that I hadn't selected black.

What you did wrong is overwriting the generic EPL fonts in zdata09, simply import them in the new zdatafile you've made for importing faces and stuff.
I import everything in zdata70 that I made and I make sure that nothing gets overwritten or you will get errors like you see now (black fonts or no fonts at all).
So import the .fsh (font) into zdata70 (or whatever zdatafile you made) and rebuild with MD's FS5xx rebuilder and it works just fine.
Because what happens is this, if the created EPL fonts have the same ID as the gamefont ID it will overrule the generic font anyway but the game will pick the last (imported) EPL font from zdata70.
That's the way it works with me anyway but I leave the EPL fonts as they are cause the gamefonts for EPL do look fine to me :D

I applied a spot light filter on the plain font, so that the light hits the numbers with a straight ray, usually vertical. I used a ray for each single number. Anyway I think there could be other methods for getting the metallic look, maybe someone else could give you his opinion... ;)

Sorry, I've never edited a player from in game, always edited with unidb or similar. Just be careful to assign the correct font ID to the correct team kit and all will work fine.

As I said some time ago I use to edit fonts creating the two files splitted: the coloured one and the alpha file. So making also a png file would mean spending more time, which is the only thing I lack. For this reason I second what Interista13 said: just wait for Creation Master 08 or, better, import fsh files with File Master 08 that has already been released. :)

The At de Madrid font is called "Andover".

Here I'm posting two templates to let you understand how I work on font sizes.

The red and yellow boxes show the available space for each digit, while the blue boxes show the standard dimensions I use for different fonts.
The light blue one correspond to the smallest font format, the medium blue one is the standard font size and finally the dark blue box shows the biggest format.
As you can see the height of the blue cases is always the same, because with a 50 pixels height the number is correctly aligned vertically in game. Extending vertical size over 50 pixels would make the font too big and it would not fit well in the case in game, cutting out the top left and right angles for double digit numbers. Furthermore it is necessary to align numbers near the top part of the template, because in game the player name is already a bit low, so our only chance is to put numbers as higher as we can.
As for shorts template I don't use different sizes, because the template is too small to let you trim the number sizes and in game you won't be able to appreciate consistent differences.

After talking about sizes I can give you a few tips on editing fonts:

- I edit fonts in BMP format, first making the alpha file and then the colored one. Someone could think it's a waste of time, but very often a font is of a single colour and it's enough to edit the alpha file to complete it, because the coloured part is simply the default template (coloured with the right tint).

- Always edit numbers on a file 5 times or more bigger than the final result. Resize you work only at the end. In this way you'll get rid of all those imperfections seen at bigger size.

- Edit one number at a time. The best possible source for fonts images is obviously a TTF file, but it's quite a rarity to find it! I recommend to search for good photos without many wrinkles, shadows and distortions. Capture the external shape of the numbers and make the alpha file first. Then with that shape as a base you can go editing the coloured file, adding outlines or logos.
A good source for fonts images is eBay (beware of fake shirts and fake fonts!), followed by all football shops on the web.

- The final answer to your work quality is the game. Always test results in game before releasing a font.


I think these are the main guidelines in making fonts, try experimenting a bit and you'll surely get used to it! ;)

Things like "bayern home", "bayern away", "bayern 2008". Be careful to search in all the world, cause many bids come from Far East or America.

There's a readme file in each of my zipped font packs, explaining the right matching between font ID and font colour. Furthermore the range of 22 colours is exactly the same as Fifa original range for all other fonts, you'll just have to browse up and down on the font list with CM08 and find the colour you need.
