1966+2006 23-09-2007, 10:58:PM What Coversongs do you like or absolutely hate?
I generally like all Reel Big Fish cover songs like "Another Day In Paradise", "Take On Me" and so on.
I hate the covers for "We Will Rock You", especially the one sang by a bunch of kids. :|
on the other hand, I prefer most covers to the original songs.
Whitesnake - Here we go again (80's remix) to the original (H)
Essentially, it's got more whack electric guitaring!
:(
rpvankasteren 23-09-2007, 11:40:PM Hendrix' All along the watchtower. Way better than Bob Dylan's original.
Ubik Valis 23-09-2007, 11:44:PM Faith No More's cover of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" kicks major ass. (Y)
Tizmo 24-09-2007, 01:40:AM Weird Al Yankovich
zlojack 24-09-2007, 01:43:AM Pearl Jam with that gay 50's song, which sucked to bad the first time that I could never understand why anyone would want to cover it.
Last Kiss or something? In Eddy Vedder's whiny voice...:-puke:

PSVFOREVER 28-09-2007, 05:47:PM Gary Jules' Mad World is an absolutely brilliant cover. Better than the original
Libreckut 10-10-2007, 01:34:AM Pearl Jam with that gay 50's song, which sucked to bad the first time that I could never understand why anyone would want to cover it.

Ahhh, yes. PJ's version is much better than the original.
Nirvana has some really good covers (Where Did You Sleep Last Night; Oh, me; The Man Who Sold The World; Son of a Gun; Seasons in the Sun..)..
the list continues (most of their covers are on their Unplugged in NY album.
treble41 10-10-2007, 05:46:AM Depeche Mode are a pretty decent band, haven't done anything for a while and Keane are more talented, anyways Keane did a cover of one of Depeche Mode's songs and I like the Keane version better:

Lol, Travis have a good sense of humour. Specially considering the state that she's in now, makes it all the more funnier. I wish they'd change the chorus around to make it sound less American girl pop. That Joni Mitchell cover they did though is excellent.
SlowSilver 10-10-2007, 11:46:AM Keane's cover of With or Without you sucked.:-puke:
1966+2006 10-10-2007, 09:53:PM I lovethe cover version of "Little Bitch"(The Specials) by Big D and The Kids Table.
Filipower 10-10-2007, 11:49:PM I hate the covers for "We Will Rock You", especially the one sang by a bunch of kids. :|
haha the ones who are like a choir? what a pointless peace of crap :D
if you can consider it a cover, Eminem's Sing For The Moment cover of Dream On is class (Y)
Pearl Jam with that gay 50's song, which sucked to bad the first time that I could never understand why anyone would want to cover it.

That's a great song.
Yossarian 12-10-2007, 06:13:PM Hendrix' All along the watchtower. Way better than Bob Dylan's original.

Cmon! Be nice, bro. The original is one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful songs ever sung, man.
People seem to always downplay its quality greatly and unjustly whenever this topic is brought up

Great.
Jaboldinho 30-05-2009, 04:20:PM Some of my favorite covers:
Eddie Vedder - You've Got To Hide Your Love Away (The Beatles)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Castles Made of Sand (Jimi Hendrix)
Jamie Cullum - Wind Cries Mary (Jimi Hendrix)
Chris Cornell - Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)
Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson)
The Killers - Romeo & Juliet (Dire Straits)
Paramore - My Hero (Foo Fighters)
Just to name a few.
Zlatan 02-06-2009, 11:13:PM As much as a great song Castles Made of Sand is, I think Anthony Kiedis completly f*cked up the vocals on that cover.

Jimi Hendrix - Like a Rolling Stone, Live @ Monterey Pop Festival 1967(Bob Dylan)

Weird 'Al Yankovic - Eat It(Michael Jackson - Beat It)
Azrael 02-06-2009, 11:31:PM Buckley's Hallelujah is good. Muse's House of the Rising Sun and Feeling Good, and pretty much anything by Me First & The Gimme Gimmies, especially Favorite Things and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Jaboldinho 03-06-2009, 09:47:AM I didn't even think of putting Hallelujah in it. As I didn't realize it's a cover. (H) For me it's the real version. The most beautiful song ever.
NaFeR 03-06-2009, 06:59:PM Back in Black by AC/DC covered by Shakira (?)
Zlatan 04-06-2009, 12:38:PM As much as a great song Castles Made of Sand is, I think Anthony Kiedis completly f*cked up the vocals on that cover.
