View Full Version : FIFA 08 - Impressions of the FULL version (PS3)
Miki23 25-09-2007, 05:56:PM As with every year, here in Australia we get Fifa usually up to couple of weeks before the rest of the world... God knows why, every other game comes in late.
I have collected my copy this morning and had a good play through most of the modes and instead of doing a proper review, I'll do a reference back to the demo and briefly comment on new things.
Overall, if you liked the demo, you'll ABSOLUTELY LOVE the full version. If you disliked the demo, you should give a full game a try for sure.
There were two major things that I didn't really like in the demo... some slowdowns/stuttering during corners and whenever there were lot's of players on screen, and lack of responsiveness of players...
PRESENTATION:
Well, the full version plays as smooth as a silk. 60fps, 720p only (back of the box of Xbox 360 version says 720p/1080i). So even though the game is not in 1080p like UCL was, the game still looks incredible. Most importantly is that the game never skips a beat. Having said that, not all cutscenes run smoothly, and those that are choppy are not as bad as the demo. So from graphics perspective (if we exclude cut scenes) the game is an absolute stunner. It is slightly disappointing to see cutscenes still not on par, but I'm sure most people skip them anyway.
Nets seem to have been tweaked too. I haven;t seen a ball getting "stuck" to it like it was a spider web, and they also seem more springy... However, nets are still not as good as PES' or Football Kingdom for example.
Demo had only one stadium, FIWC stadium, and it gave an OK indication of lighting engine during day matches. Some other stadiums look incredible... Night maches look really good. Better than UCL in my opinion, more realistic. The atmosphere is exceptional.
Sound is as good as it has always been with Fifa. Martin Tyler and Andy Gray do best commentary job ever in any video game to date. It is simply outstanding.
GAMEPLAY:
Now to the important bits. Gameplay has been tweaked. Especially is noticeable the responsiveness of the players. It is still not perfect, but is bloody close. Seriously, the first impression I've got as soon as I kicked off the very first match was that controls are tighter, players more responsive and that the game was 'easier' to play. After a few games I went back and started the demo... and goodness me, it was really different and irresponsive.
I think that poeple will like the controls and responsiveness. Like I said, there is still room for improvement, and they are not as tight as PES, but much much much improved from before.
A word of wisdom - READ THE MANUAL as it has some excellent points on controls. For example, you need to position the left stick to the side in order to give a swerve to your free kicks/corners/shots. However, this MUST be done WHILE YOU ARE PRESSING THE SHOT BUTTON. If you do it after the power bar has stopped, the shot will be just normal shot.
Another good tip was that all players by default "chase the ball" (EA fancy way of saying that players are on "rails"). So, by pressing L2 and R2 after the pass/cross etc... you can move players freely. And it works better than in a demo.
There are some other good tips, so have a looksy in the manual, it's worth it.
Another one was that game should be played using jogging mainly, not sprinting or with pace control. This gives far more opportunities to change your pace suddenly/or execute a trick move which gives you the edge over opponent then if you sprint constantly.
There are 5 difficulty settings: Amateur, Semi-Pro, Professional, World Class and Legendary.
MODES:
Be a pro mode is REALLY awesome and addictive. I had reservations about it, but I found myself really enjoying it. Camera works very well. I can see huge potential for online matches!!!
Manager mode is pretty much the same, you pick a team, a sponsor etc... The only addition is 3 currencies: Euro, Pound and Dollar.
Cup Mode is really what you expect, plenty of real world cups.
Challenges - I haven't tried any nor have I checked which challenges are there... YET :)
I haven't been able to test the game online and try new online modes as EA servers are not up and running, but I have no doubt that game will play with no lag as was the case with 07.
Fan shop gives the opportunity to purchase new footballs, 3rd kits, New arenas and players to play in arena, and celebrations.
CONCERNS:
The game isn't perfect and there are things that could have been ironed out.
My biggest concern are referees. There are not enough fouls in the game, and it seems like Ref favours very physical game. Even after sliding tackles, you are not guaranteed a foul. (This is quite a paradox, as ad boards have Fifa Fair Play all over them).
However, the rest are minor things, nitpicking really, and don't destroy overall good impression. These are:
- There are some clipping issues when crossing the ball. Sometimes, the player's foot goes through the ball.
- GK A.I. made some really ackward decisions couple of times (out of 40 or so matches). Not a biggie but still noticable.
- There are only a few ad boards in the game. Three of Fifa (Fair Play, Anti Racism, and Fifa.com), rest are EA sports, Fifa08.com, Need for Speed and that's about it. More variety would have been nice, especially since traditionlly Fifa has lots of these.
- Choice of sponsors in manager mode is SHOCKING... Seriously, whoever made up the list of sponsors is a shocker. Luckily sponsors in the game are just a gimmick.
- There are some quite good international teams missing, like Serbia for example.
Overall conclusion is that this is by far the best Fifa ever. And not just best Fifa, I'd argue that this is one of the finest football games I ever played (and I'm hard to please). The pace of the game is perfect in my oppinion, controls are responsive and quite complex (more variety), gameplay very addictive and extremely enjoyable, incredible physics engine, there are plenty of modes to keep the game going for a while (new online/offline modes), challenges, fan shop, awesome audio visuals, licences... Not sure what else we can ask for from a football game...
In my world, this is a strong 9/10 without any hesitation.
Post any questions if you have them, in case you can't wait until you play the full game.
Cheers.
nanny 25-09-2007, 06:28:PM man WTF, i live in AUS and they told me i gotta wait till 27th! what city do you live in?
leafer01 25-09-2007, 06:56:PM can you tell me what teams are in "rest of the world" please?
Relica 25-09-2007, 07:13:PM Thanks Aussie friend! Please could you confirm if the game is easier on semi pro than the demo version.
Five difficulty levels and the demo was a good challenge on the second settings.
fitba 25-09-2007, 07:18:PM Thanks for taking the time to review your copy of the game, Miki23.
One question - when the ball goes out of play and you make a substitute, do your substitutes come on the field at that time or does the game wait for the next stoppage in play?
TIA.
roberthan 25-09-2007, 08:25:PM what stadium do they offer??
Is White Hart Lane stadium in the game??
Miki23 26-09-2007, 12:42:AM man WTF, i live in AUS and they told me i gotta wait till 27th! what city do you live in?
Melbourne.
I picked up mine at EB Games in Elizabeth St.
Genesis6891 26-09-2007, 12:43:AM Soo as far as modes go, again you cant just play through a season with a team? Is there no way of playing this game through seasons without having to deal with the silly manager thing they insist on putting into it every year?
Miki23 26-09-2007, 01:17:AM @ leafer01 and roberthan – I’ll let you guys know as soon as I get home (I’m at work now, it’s around 9am in Aussie)
@ fitba – You have to wait for a next stoppage in a play. At least I haven’t noticed “on the go” subs.
@ relica – Yes the game is easier on semi-pro than demo. Not sure if the reason is that I got used to playing demo and now with tweaked controls it feels easier or whether EA deliberately, “dumb”-ed it down. Professional feels like the demo to me. Haven’t tried WC or Legendary yet.
@ Genesis 6891 – Hmmm, that’s a good question. I’ll double check this tonight. I know there is new tournament mode where you can play Cups, but not sure if there are leagues in there too. I’ll let you know tonight.
Genesis6891 26-09-2007, 01:21:AM Cheers buddy! I just hated the way that you couldnt just enjoy playing through seasons with the proper squads and players without getting stupid instructions to sell and buy players and get bonus points for this or that...just have a simple 'Progressive seasons' mode or somethin!
fitba 26-09-2007, 05:44:AM Thanks for the reply, Miki23.
I know it'a a minor gripe, but I think it sucks that FIFA 08 does not have "on-the-go" subs. EA had it on UEFA CL for next gen, why not for FIFA 08? Oh well...I'll still be buying the game.
cfdemarco 26-09-2007, 06:15:AM So are the Cups only in "Cup Mode" or do you still get to play in cups in manager mode? And do we actually get Champion's League and UEFA Cup in manager mode or just generic European cups?
Miki23 26-09-2007, 06:34:AM So are the Cups only in "Cup Mode" or do you still get to play in cups in manager mode? And do we actually get Champion's League and UEFA Cup in manager mode or just generic European cups?
"Cup mode" is called "Tournament mode". It consists of wide variety of real life tournaments. I'll flick through it tonight and write up a list of all that is there. P.S. If you read IGN review, they refer to UEFA Cup, so it must be in the game!!!
There are Cups in manager mode as well. One of my first games in manager mode was a cup game, so I'm positive they are in.
P.S. I'm not saying that "on the go" subs are not in the game, it's just that I haven't noticed them yet... I played mainly exhibition games to check out the stadiums, graphics, gameplay etc... I've only played 2 games in a manager mode, couple of games in be a pro, and Italian Cup game.
Two other things I forgot to mention are:
- There is a "creation zone", but I haven't had a chance to look through it.
- You can update squads from EA servers.

There are no official leagues outside Manager mode, however within tournaments menu you can set up a knockout or league type of tournament... potentially, this way you can set up a whole season without manager mode.
Biebrich 02 26-09-2007, 01:14:PM you can also play manager mode without doing anything else than just playing. that's what i usually do, i'm also not interested in buying players, scouting, sponsoring etc.

No Panathinaikos? Surprised
thelordspawn 26-09-2007, 03:36:PM Soo as far as modes go, again you cant just play through a season with a team? Is there no way of playing this game through seasons without having to deal with the silly manager thing they insist on putting into it every year?
if u dont like that make a custom league/tourney with all the teams u want. also manager mode was never an issue i just played games and ignored everything else of u dont buy players theres nothing to worrry about. only time u need tow orry si when ur players overs wagers ismroe than u can pa.
homblooie 26-09-2007, 03:42:PM i got the game today as well, and i'll be happy to answer any questions.
one thing which came as a surprise to me was "Be a Pro" mode on ps3 is no more than that - u cannot do a season with a player. this was a major disappointment to me. another is the exclusion of panathinaikos. player faces are sometimes overdone and often don't look like the players at all. Harry Kewell has no name apparently (Martin Tyler seems to ignore him, not saying his name when on the ball - this is along with the whole of the A League, whose names are also not read out through commentary).
for example, also, dirk kuyt looks nothing like him - yet in the ps2 version he looks quite accurate. faces still are all the same looking, same features, and do not look at all enough like the players. and also, NO BROADCAST CAMERA!?! Fernando Torres' hair is also a little redish/yellow rather than brown with blonde streaks. Picky? HEY! these are things which make the game more real! in the PC version Torres has perfect hair, so im sure ps3 can work on it as well! all in all, current gen imo has a greater range of player faces which are noticable - harry kewell, dirk kuyt, xabi alonso i noticed for liverpool all have rather odd faces, whereas in current gen they are very very precise. that having been sed, steve finnan looks absolutley amazing in ps3. why cant they find a balance? quaresma as well is a bit dodgy for me in fc porto, whereas in current gen (fifa 07 ps2) he was perfect!
however, these faults were found by looking precisely at the negatives of the game, positives of course include the sublime gameplay and graphics. the ball skill is amazing, gameplay is soooooo real, the game looks like on on the tele. calm, collected, messy, rapid all the features of the modern football game combine into this finely crafted game. when playing with A League teams u'd swear you were at the Telstra Dome, the passing is often a little messy (as you'd expect with the rather dodgy quality of the A League at the moment), there is a lot of first touch football and the shots are blocked and often go wide.
this compared to a game between manchester united and liverpool, where the game is a lot more precise, when ronaldo is on the ball he does his tricks and exchanges very quick passes with scholes to open up space down the wing, crossing in for rooney to head home. steven gerrard drives his team forward (and in doing so, martin tyler says "here is the skipper, Steven Gerrard") and exposes the manchester defence with piercing through balls to fernando torres to slot home.
My point being, the AI is amazing, and its these features which make u really stand gobsmacked with awe at how real they can make a football game. MAJOR MAJOR positive there, the gameplay for me is simply amazing, so real, the ball physics are so real as well, ball swirves high in the air with long range passes, its all so good!
well, that's all im saying now, some negatives but for me they are all to do with the features of the game. im sure they've focused on the 'online mode' so thats why "be a pro" season was probably left out of the ps3/360 version.
roberthan 26-09-2007, 05:00:PM can anyone tell me what is FIWC satdium???? where is it? thanks

Don't forget that current gen and next gen are completely different games, i.e. different engines run the game. Two different teams worked on each etc... hence the differences.
I'm more happy that EA spent more time in making the gameplay so enjoyable/realistic and A.I. tweaked, rather then painting some players' hair. That's exactly what they used to do...
And you are quite right mate, I didn't see it at first. Be a Pro mode is online only. You can play it offline but it is only a practice match. You can't play leagues etc in this mode... That's disappointing.
On a side note, I had my first online match and I lost 2:1. There was lag all over the place. Rest of the games were perfect, no lag... just like in offline. So online performance seems to be quite good!
Miki23 26-09-2007, 05:17:PM can anyone tell me what is FIWC satdium???? where is it? thanks
I thought that this was Fifa Interactive World Cup Stadium... where FIWC tournament will be played. A generic stadium...
However, I might be wrong.
calve11 26-09-2007, 09:59:PM Hey, just want to say thanks to Miki23 and others who are giving us a heads up on FIFA 08, it's very appreciated.
I have a pretty specific question lol... What stadium does Benfica play in by default? (I hope it's the Emirates since Arsenal carbon-copied the inside of our stadium)
Also how are the editing modes (if there are any). Can you edit appearences, attributes, stadiums teams play in, and can you customize formations (like PES style?).
Any response would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
CopeCOwBoy 27-09-2007, 05:34:AM I think this game is brutal, madden 08 is solid this year, nhl 08 is solid this year, tiger woods 08 is solid this year(360) but this game is just flat out weak. Best ea game so far for me is

calve11 27-09-2007, 05:49:AM It's funny how FIFA has blown for nearly a decade now but when they finally come out with a quality, REALISTIC football simulation (FIFA 08) a lot of people trash it (Cope Cowboy). I guess these people just don't appreciate realism or the tactics of the beautiful game itself.
Oh well, I'm a die-hard PES fan but I can't wait for FIFA 08. EA has finally got it right. Judging by the demo, it is far the best soccer game I have ever played. We'll see if PES can top it in February.
But until then, I'll be playing FIFA.

I heard from some special sources that you can direerect you
players with in game micrhophone. like tell them to go far or close.
or play some double dee.
I hope this is true. would be spectacular!

Hepoas 27-09-2007, 04:58:PM Nice to meet you mate. Where are you from?
I'm from Norway. If you want to chat with me, send me a PM. ;)
Dipanjan 27-09-2007, 05:48:PM can dere b more than 30 players in a team?
Go Deutschland 27-09-2007, 05:55:PM Can anyone tell me how editing stats work? Is it like FIFA 07 where you had to gain points to edit player's stats. That really sucked.
Aragorn 28-09-2007, 08:04:AM Thanks a lot for the info my friend. I will buy the game today. But i have a few questions, hope you can answer me:
1 - What leagues has the game? Besides of the typical, Premier, Spanish, etc..
2 - It´s certain about you cannot play with only ONE selected player on Be A Pro during a season?, i mean, for example, i want to play 3rd view with only Xavi or Ronaldinho during a season...it is possible?
3 - What about the editor? It´s like in 07 or it´s better, more options, etc??
4 - And the tactics???
Take care my friend, i know that you are on ps3 now, but we will meet someday for to play together. Lot of regards from a Halo 3 lover, hehehe, i know that you can hate microsoft after that happends with your console, but man, this game is awesome. Hope that programmers will find finally the essence of ps3 for to do great games more often, i guess that it´s only a matter of time.

Don't know if it's the same butbut it sounds a bit same. You can take something away(or give trait which is giving dissadvantage for player, such "not using weaker foot") and then add. So I had Riquelme's speed(which isn't really so big, but still a bit too great for him) reduced and then added those points for his curve etc.
This is at least XBOX 360 version.

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifa_08
2. Be a pro in XBOX 360 at least is just one game with one player.
3. see my post above
4. There is a quite good suffling which you can do with tactics. One thing which PES have(this year) over FIFA is that you can't point out who to go up in corners. So You normally don't have your central defenders up in corners, etc. Shouldn't be so hard to have this feature and should have had it already years ago.
Aragorn 28-09-2007, 04:37:PM Thanks a lot for the answer Jore2, but about the Editor, i meant about face, body, gear, etc..options, if we can edit a good face or is the same editor that in 07 in this sense.

Ah, ok. Well can't say because of two reasons. Haven't yet created new players and secondly haven't played 07 so much I would know about it's editor :) Hope some1 else can answer.
OrgulloVikingo 28-09-2007, 08:54:PM For anyone having the PS3 and 360, I hear that the 360 version looks better and runs smoother, as all EA sports titles do. Below is one example
We noticed slight graphical differences between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions too. It looks a little better on 360 - crisper and more fluid, despite EA's claims that both would run at 60 fps. It's a very subtle difference, but noticeable nonetheless. Generally, EA Sports next-gen titles haven't looked as good on PS3 compared with the Xbox 360 (Madden 08 runs at half the frame rate on PS3), and FIFA 08 is no different. If you're lucky enough to own both consoles, the 360 version is the one to get, unless you have an affinity to the Sixaxis controller, which we know many football game fans do seeing as it's essentially the Dual Shock sans the shock.
brianodom 28-09-2007, 11:57:PM I'm a PES-guy too. And I love FIFA 08.
I'll get Fifa for the PS3 and PES for my PC :)

Mate, I can't compare them side by side at the same time, but when I played it on firend's 360 and my PS3 I seriously couldn't tell the difference.
If there is a difference it is "very subttle" as your example says.
Mel Brennan 29-09-2007, 05:16:AM I'll get Fifa for the PS3 and PES for my PC :)
Same here, except make it 360 Elite. :)

How did you manage to flip it around? :)
I have a few questions of my own,
1. An issue I have with the demo is the response time when powering up a low or high through ball, is it much more responsive in the final version?
2. How is the ability to head the ball different from the demo? More specifically, when you are in the 16 box...

Hehehe, I just flipped my webcam around (from my lap top) to take a photo of my Tele. I know, I'm lazy...
1. It's pretty much the same... I don't have any problems with reponse time at all... not have I noticed this before.
2. I scored quite a few headers. They are pretty realistic. I scored a few diving headers too. It takes a little practice to time the shot and to position your receiving player. Once you get hold of that, it's great.
calve11 01-10-2007, 03:18:AM Can anyone confirm if the Estadio da Luz (Benfica's stadium) is in the game? I see it on some lists and not on others. But I did see it in a FIFA 08 trailer, so I'm kinda confused. If anyone could confirm this it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

No it's not. I posted all the stadiums in a game on page 2 of this thread.
cfdemarco 02-10-2007, 09:13:PM Question related to the Xbox 360 version...
I thought there was supposed to be a way for you to manually take control of your keeper on set peices and during the normal course of play, but I could not figure out how to do it in the demo. So can you in fact play as your keeper, and if so, how do you switch to him?
This would be extremely helpful on direct-to-goal set peices because your AI controlled keepers don't know how to position themselves to save their lives.

bigswede2 08-10-2007, 08:31:AM After playing the game since it was released (ps3 by the way..) the game is very good, the best fifa so far..... but here comes the but... but for some very annoying but very easely fixed problems....
here is my list of problems...
1: can't use the d-pad to move your player..(doesn't bother me but my friend was very annoyed, he said it made the game unplayable for him...)
2: it takes to long to power up a long pass, you get tacked before you can finish your pass...
3: it's not possible to play with 2 players with 2 different teams that is.. it is only possible to play on the same team or in friendly's against each other...
4: its not possible to customise your controler....
5: the goalkeepers arn't good enough...
there is more but those are the most annoying...
Good points:
1:fantastic graphics
2: good A I,
3:great commentary...
4: the best fifa by far should give Pes a run for its money....
nanny 08-10-2007, 04:18:PM ill give my quick + and - of the game
- no practice mode
- lack of stadiums
- substitutions should include a new cinematic and not be so predictable (e.g drogba and lampard off sheva and ballack on, all 4 times i played chelsea they did this)
- faces are not very good
- through balls just dont work well enough unless your 2 player
- when defending you often accidently push your defender the wrong way and the striker can just skip past, very common with beginners
- manager mode is still not extensive enough
- player growth is a bit weird
BIGGEST - for me - have to unlock the 3rd kit i hate playing as gunners vs sunderland coz only the top is different, and its so hard to get points, i need 7500 for the 3rd kit, just one of them and i only got 1500 so far and iv played a full season!
- hard to tell when the stadium is full half full and or 75% full
- winning a trophy and then only get to see a pic of it with your club emblem next to it is very dissapointing
+ graphics are awsome
+ goals are very realistic
+ loads of boots in the game
+ atmosphere is good with crowd and commentary
+ messi and others kick and dribble just like messi, i was so impressed by this!
+a-league is in it
+ the difference when you play MK dons and Manchester united and the difference when you play home and away
thats about it and i would give it a good 8.5/10 on the PS3
SEPAKBOLA 11-10-2007, 09:27:PM I seriously don't believe this.
Noone has posted about the biggest gameplay issue of all.
CROSSING.
How many times in real football do you see the ball crossed exactly perfect to the strikers head. Then the striker stays still in the box, jumps vertically (along wtih the defender by his side of course) in the air and then somehow finds some power off of this move and scores a goal?
This is where the gameplay engine is broke. Crossing is an important way to attack - mixing up the variety of how goals are scored is a result of how crossing is set up. Players must RUN ONTO the crosses not just stand still and get delivered a perfect ball to their heads every damn time.
I'm sorry, but this alone is close to being a break for me. I'm very excited to buy the game after a long absence from the FIFA scene - but the crossing has got to be fixed somehow.
I understand there is manual crossing, but what about the AI? That can't be fixed.
Don't say it's perfect gameplay - becasue it's not, crossing the ball is too important to be left out of the realism spectrum here.
bigswede2 11-10-2007, 10:33:PM I agree with you, the game is far from perfect and the more you play it the more faults will be found, this is normal... I'm still looking forward to pes 2008 though I liked the demo..(a bit fast but this has been fixed..abd a few other things..) no game especially sport games are perfect , but this is a good game NOT a great game.........
its a shame its not possible to patch games on the ps3... at least not officially..
nanny 12-10-2007, 03:34:PM you guys are just not crossing right, you would be running all the way to the bi line and crossing with the power bar, try push cross 3 times, try holding L1 and then crossing early, players will move to the ball, you guys just gotta mix it up, your doing the same thing every time, not the game
SEPAKBOLA 12-10-2007, 03:45:PM Nanny, that is a good tip and thank you, however you forgot the last part of my post: the AI cannot be fixed. This means the goals you concede are of the same nature in matters of crossing. That is the more frustrating part to be honest.
With crossing aside, I'm really enjoying this game. As a PES fan, that is tough to say. I think EA have finally done something right - this is a very challenging and thus exciting game to play.

This is where your gripe is broken, put it on manual and you won't have that problem of "broken gameplay" TAKE OFF ASSISTED!
nanny 12-10-2007, 04:28:PM yehhh i feel you on that one, when the high ball is coming in and either your defender will head it away or the striker will head it and u just hold your breath and hope that ball sails over!
Blacklover 12-10-2007, 04:57:PM Running onto crosses has been in PES for years now. I really wish FIFA would get that in. I feel like one version had them, FIFA 04 maybe? But they were over the top and it was a diving header every 2 balls crossed in.
Crossed balls and running on to them, crossed balls where it was more than just a 1 on 1 situation, keeper rushing out to punch the ball away, where is any of this?
SEPAKBOLA 12-10-2007, 05:22:PM This is where your gripe is broken, put it on manual and you won't have that problem of "broken gameplay" TAKE OFF ASSISTED!
Doh! You didn't even read my post before yours did you? What about the AI? Can you fix that?
BLover - I believe it was FIFA 2005 that had the great crossing. I remember because it was the one time they let a woman commentate in a video game - worthless - was it Julie Foudy for the North American version?
Eitherway, that was the one time EA got the crossing right.
Like I said, it's a game breaker for me, but at the same time I still bought the game and have not looked back. I will probably just have to impart some house rules for the way I can play. I currently have crossing on Manual - did that before I even played the game.
Blacklover 12-10-2007, 05:47:PM Wow, Julie Foudy, yes I remember that all too well now. The horror...the horror...

Uuuuuuhhh...ya I did read your whole post and see nothing that you are talking about because I have seen the A.I. with innaccurate crosses myself and to answer your question I have seen players in a real game waiting in the box for a cross many a times so I really don't understand your critique.
I have seen players running into a cross and I have seen the computer cross the ball where an oncoming striker is just out of reach of the ball as it sails by the mouth of the goal.
SEPAKBOLA 12-10-2007, 06:52:PM LP, i'm not going to argue what you have or haven't seen - that is besides the point and I frankly don't feel like it.
All I know is what I have seen is that the previous mentioned crossing problem is more apparent in games than 'inaccurate' crosses. I too have seen inaccurate crosses, which has let me be a little more low-key regarding this defect, but it's not as much as a game breaker for me anymore.
I dont' understand why I have to explain myself when everyone else understood and agreed accordingly - there's a difference between having constructivity in your arguments than just wanting to be correct.
But let's drop this because I honestly don't think it's constructive and it veers away from the topic. I apologie for my reaction before, but it seemed justified because others have agreed yet you singled me out. Meh, no biggie.
Moving on.
And yes BL - Julie freakin Foudy. The game wasn't too bad though, I enjoyed hearing American commentary when using MLS teams. I remember there was a game for the PS2 called MLS Extra Time (by KONAMI) and I realy enjoyed that game because of the commentary. I've tried using MLS teams in FIFA 08, but had to turn off commentary because it just does not sound right with British commentators during an MLS showing - seeing the stands full as well don't look right.lol.
nanny 14-10-2007, 05:58:AM my biggest problem is that i have played a full season and a 3/4 and i have not yet got a penalty and i have only simmed about 4 games! i want penalty's!

that was fifa 2000. :-puke:
bigmickyd 15-10-2007, 06:11:AM ...ok ive had fifa since 2004, and yeah im that **** online who always slides in deffence... ive only ever owned fifa on ps2/ps3 with 08 on ps3 and 2 answer ur question nanny ive given away about 6 spotties in my first complete season with manchester city... and prob 4/6 were wen i didnt slide i was just pushing him and the reff said foul... if im playing say my brother in 07 i used to give a spottie away basicly every 2nd game...wen i say i slide...i mean i slide ALOT... on 08 against him i think i managed to injury both of his strikers (kuyt and torres, hes a liverpool fan) as well as about 4 others without getting a single yellow card and i think only 2 of them being fouls... he had to use all 3 subs in first 20min...so yeah they have toned down the fouls with the huge advantage play the game uses...but thats one of the few bad things for you guys...good if ur a HUGE slider like me...
(btw in 07 i went an entire season on the unlockable difficulty were the only goals i conceited were spotties...which was 25 in all competitions...so yeah i played a full season and only gave out 6 on 08 2 put into perspective how much its been toned down on the fouls side)
so yeah nanny...unless you play real dirty...not real high chance of seeing spottie...unless u go 2 shout out (btw im in aus like u)
nanny 15-10-2007, 06:32:AM nothing is worse then when you slide to block a shot and the stiker will take it then take 4 steps forward and sorta stumble over your player that is still on the ground and they get a penlty! Pro evo had the no foul coz when taking shot thing in PES 3 fifa needa update, im not talking never get a foul either im talking like u block it with a slide, yall know what i mean
btw bigmick i got a penlty this morning, i was so happy i missed my bus to school!
on anothe note iv put all the assits off and omg, its liek a new game, i had to put myself back on amerture coz its just wayyyy to hard, its gonna take me ages to master, and i just cant use tricks to save my life, i really wanna be able to least do the chop, its easier to do the flip fliap and the 360 spin then the chop, its bull****!
bigmickyd 15-10-2007, 06:48:AM yeah or how they take the ball 20m down the field but they still come back for the foul...the ones i hate r wen i DONT slide and get carded...and i think i needa step back my sliding...was playing a game just then (im on break coz im ment 2 b studying 4 hsc but hey...i no my prorties :) ) and richards managed to injure not just belamy but with the follow through he caught dunne and injuryed him for 3 weeks... but i must say probs 2 fifa for making more realistic tackles wen u absolutly collect them...last year it look lik the attacker had sliped...this year looks lik hes been taken to the knee by a baseball bat or hes run into a brick wall...much more fun getting a foul on you wen u watch the guys on the other team go down like that :D
celtic fc 16-10-2007, 04:46:AM Is it just me or is the pass button very unresponsive at times? For instance a player will be closing you down, he's still several yards away, you press pass, and he still gets to the ball before your player responds?!! So ******* frustrating! Or how about when you go in for a tackle (expecting to go on a run) and your player responds by booting it up the park? Or you go to pass the ball to one player and he passes it, not only to the wrong player but, in the wrong direction?
Honestly, I think I'm just not a very good player. My opponents never seem to have the same issues.
nanny 16-10-2007, 04:58:AM yeh dw celtic im like that too, and we are in the same online league so we can fight it out for the relegation spot :P
the one thing i cant stand is how hard it is too
- score a free kick
- playing with everything on manual, i put it on 20min halfs on semi-pro and at half time i was 2-1 up (Milan vs Catania) and i had like 35-40 shots but i only could score 2.. my passing percentage was 60%, and when your 1on1 with the keeper you have 2 choices, either keep the stick striaght and smash it at the goallie or 2 you can sliglty move it no more then half a millimeter and it will go wide with TOP SPIN!!!! as if like i had the stick on 90 degrees its rediculas
but seriously this is the best soccer game iv ever played!
bigmickyd 17-10-2007, 02:33:PM nanny...ur runnin through onto the keeper yeah...ur holdin R2...at the last second b4 u shoot let go and hold L2 the power up and slighty move stick left or right...watch out though sometimes the game will pick up ur holding both and cancil you shooting the ball..i also found a step to the right or left once the keeper starts comin out and just thumping it works alot too... i get ur point though about with the manuel thing...i play on world class and that seems to work for me...
i played my brother in a 20min half game...at end of the game i had 37 shots on target compaired to his 34 on tArget, yet i out scored him 14-2 (both of his goals were spotties...member i side im a slider? yeah i got sloppy...gave him 5 spotties...he hit the post on one, i saved 2 and he got the other 2) but he had ur problem...he either missed by a mile or knocked the keeper out...and quite litrally alot...some of his shots were he was comin in from just to the left or right of the semi circle at top of the box were goin out for throw in's...but its always fun watching him take 5 corners with 7 shots on target in there as well...just 2 c me go length of the field and score on my first shot :)
if all else fails...just pop long shots from top of the box...i swear they nearly go in as much as one on ones do
diroix 17-10-2007, 03:34:PM Why the weather is always sunny?
I want to play on rainy or snowy weather too.
Can't we play ?
nanny 19-10-2007, 11:32:AM no snow or rain
and bigmick if it cancels the shot does that make what your brother was doing, coz on maunal i do exactly what your brother does yet iv played so many hours worth now, iv had to set shooting to semi
