I have already download the Gfx pack, but when i extract the kits to Fifa2001\Data\Player directory...it doesn´t appear in the game!! What do i have to do??
someone could help me??

Yes, is it Iceboy...it´s a fatal error...i don´t know why!!... i open the pack.bat file...and then appears 50 times or moore the message... " Fatal Error...could´nt open packfile ´kits.big´ "

Hi Sergio,

had the same problem u had before I figured it out with the help of the posts in this forum.

Main problem u having here is that u DON'T HAVE kits.big in your data\players folder. I'm guessing that u chose the "Typical Install" option that only copies texture.big into the data\players folder.

So u can do one of two things. One is find the file kits.big on your CD and copy it into your data\player folder (remember to untick "read only" in this file's Properties) OR re-install the game, this time selecting "Custom Install" and make sure everything's ticked.

Once u have kits.big in your data\player directory, u can unzip your downloaded files and run your .bat file. Make sure that the bat file is in the same directory and not in a sub-directory, eg data\player\EPL\done.

You'll get a different msg this time in your DOS-Prompt if u do things right. Start the game and you'll notice the difference.

I think I have the answer to your question, the same thing happened to me.

if the kits.big file is in the FIFA 2001\data\player folder (it will be if you did full insall) then this will work.

When it says "Fatal Error, could not open kits.big" (or whatever error message) in the install file (.bat) close the dos window and there should be a kits.tmp file,
delete the original kits.big and then rename the kits.tmp to kits.big, now the kits should be in the game.

(you may need to run the install.bat again)


After you have done this for the first kit you install, any others should go in first time.

Oh yeah, with boots or anything that uses texture.big, sometimes the file in the download is called textureS.big.
In this case just rename the .tmp file without the "s". (call it texture.big)

When you have unzipped your files into data\player, you'll see eight .fsh files plus a folder called "EPL". Inside this folder you'll see another folder called "done". Inside THIS folder you'll see the install.bat file. Cut and paste the .bat file in the same directory where u have all the .fsh and .big files. Then double click on it to run it.

To get the kits.big you must fully install the game (then it'll be in FIFA 2001\data\player)

Or you could just copy it from the CD (its in data\player again) and then put it in the FIFA 2001\data\player folder.
but be sure to untick the "read only" thingy in the files properties.

Thanks for your help guys...i have now installed some kits...thanks to you...BUT...i don´t know why!!...most of the kits i can´t install...it appears the same message..."FATAL ERROR...couldn´t open packfile kits.big..."
