Sporting Lisbon here.

As for the Portuguese League, Sporting has a GREAT team. Vukcevic, Romagnoli and Liedson are beasts. And Veloso is surely one of the best players of the game. And the team has loads of potential for future. Benfica has also an amazing team, Di Maria looks very very nice, and Porto has for an instant the best team, but not a team for the future.

I haven't noticed any flaws in the 2D engine so far. Actually, I think the 2D engine is near perfect...

As for my game...I only had 1 win in 5 pre-seasons games (2 draws, 2 losses in the others), even though team wasn't in good shape and testing stuff. I tried the 4-4-2 and still doesn't work for me. 1 draw and 1 loss in 4-4-2, but I will keep trying it. Went to my classic 4-5-1, but this time I made a variation.
Looks like a 4-4-1-1 or something like that. What I noticed I didn't have is someone to really help the striker, specially in away matches.

The win of the pre-season was with it (against V.Setúbal, convincing 1-0 away win), along with 1 draw and 1 loss (against Bayern Munchen). The first match for real was the Supercup against Porto...

By the way, the confidence graphics are brutal. Love it, great add from the SIGAMES lads. New skin takes a while to get it right, but now I love it. Much more to come...

just finished checking out the demo. It took me a while to get used to the new interface, but generally the game was nice and it's much better than FM 07.I liked the captaincy part(though there are a few glitches) and the team detail is much better too. I'm expecting much more from the full version of the game (Y)

For now, i'm back to FM07 :)

I also noticed Sporting CP has a very nice team. Might be an intresting team to play with in the full version.

To be honest the addictiveness really comes down to picking the right team/league/scenario than the actual edition of FM. I had, perhaps, my most enjoyable ever FM game in the 07 edition.

Has anyone noticed the players backing off the attackers ?? This happens to me a lot, and this also happens to be the main cause of other teams scoring against me. I've put the 'closing down' bar on full, still the players just prefer to wait and watch the opposition. It's going to take a while to get used to....

i don't know, imo it's a bit easier than 07, which is good, because 07 was insanely hard to get things right..

there's only minor detail i think they should tweak, it's with the difference between the Inbox and the competition News, nothing wrong with the Inbox part, but I think that the competition News should get a "unread" alert or something, i never know which news i've read or not..


also while i'm at it, i sense that the injuries are still coming strong, i really hoped they improved it from the 7.0.2, because the amount of injuried players i had was insane sometimes..

So far I noticed that my team has very much difficulties scoring, even though we create alot of chances. Could have something to do with the team I'm playing with though(Arsenal), while I don't really have a lethal finisher in my squad.

dude, i did my 6 months with arsenal, bought palacio who was injured for three of those six, and still i managed to end the demo in first place, having lost 0 league matches and with great firepower...adebayor and van persie, even rosicky, all bag a good deal of goals...

but yeah palacio was my main killer when he wasn't injured, so getting a striker is a must i reckon...didn't you push huntelaar a bit more, or no €?

Meh, already bought Makoun for the DMC position for 15m. I'm still trying desperatly to get hold of a good striker though, can't go any further than 20m there though.

i got palacio for 14M, have you tried budget management? which tactic/players are you using?

Those release dates vary very much. I wouldn't rely to much on them. Some say the 25th, some say the 19th, some say even earlier. The only real release date that countes is the one SI gives, but they haven't given one yet.

I bought Sergio Peter from Blackburn, but only as a backup winger. Does seem rather promising though with good stats at an age of 20 and at a reasonable price.

Hleb is crap so I bought Belluschi or whatever his name is, Argentinian right winger for 8 mill.

Gallas and Toure are too weak in the air it seems so I bought Barzagli for £12m, If you need a centrehalf buy him his stats are ridiculous.

Rosicky is a great player in the game but I still needed a few left wingers so I went for Capel for 5 mill and Menez for 12mill.

I only had 31mill to spend but I spent 36 by changing budgets which is an awesome addition.

Oh yeah, and Armand Traore is awesome, although why Gael Clichy only has 16 pace I'll never know.

Its more for noobs who can't pick out THREE attributes they want to be high for a respective position.

I would have preffered it to copy all of the player's attributes, and then me go in and take some of them off or lower some.

Milan had a budget of about €24m, I spent around €77m (H)

Bought Dmitar Berbatov, Andrea Barzagli, Marco Amelia and Ever Banega (who's totally awesome by the way, and only for €3.7m!).

I of course start Pirlo ahead of him, but almost anytime Banega plays he will chalk up an assist.

Fist impressions... OK , I don't like the blue attributes scaling thing and the new skin in many parts feels too... wizard like. It just gives me a lesser... "you're in control" feeling.

by default the whole thing looks stretched out.

I think it's an issue with the 2nd engine. It has to be in 1024 to work.
The stretched part is because your monitor chooses to do that. Maybe you can select from your monitor menu to just have it in actual res size with empty area around... (and always depending on your TFT native resolution

I play on windowed screen, to prevent it from looking streched. You can listen to music while you're playing too. :D

5 straight wins, finally, and the team's morale is going up and we are starting to play ok.

Still, last match I was winning 2-1 at HT against Leiria. Suddenly they are winning 2-3 on 70th minute. 3-3 in the 82' and 4-3 in the 90'. One of the most breathtaking matches I ever had.

Felipe - Brazilian GK, looks very promising, my scout says he has loads of potential. As, Stoijkovic looks ok but not in long term, I cashed 5M on him. But by the stats, and only 19 years, it will be worth in 2/3 seasons.

Alex - Brazilian playmaker, scouts say he is the next Ronaldinho. Bought him for 2M but will only get him on January when he does 18 years.

And currently looking for a central defender. Suggestions?

Peter Crouch routinely scored hat tricks on me and was impossible to defend into his mid 30's. Maximum ability doesn't matter if he's amazing regardless.

I wasn't meaning to bitch or anything, just saying that for me, I've always had to edit the data to some effect because I haven't agreed with SI ratings for some players. And in some countries the data is rubbish.
But if we all edited the data then we'd all choose different ratings for every player I suppose.

and yeah the FM db is kinda poor, apart from the main leagues/countries.
And it sucks even more with Holland (yeah i used the H word :() since they have a pretty strong history in football and still got a good NT.

That is false. 20 > 16. Perhaps you did not take into account the height of players when you came to this conclusion, but a player with 20 jumping and 20 heading is going to win almost every ball in the air over a player with 16 for jumping and 16 for heading. Even if the 20 player has a 120 ability and the 16 player has 190 ability.

I am positive that you accepted the Terms and Conditions when you downloaded the demo. If you look through that, I'm sure they explicitly state that you cannot use the demo with a crack. Therefore you would be violating their copyright if you did this.

playing the FM08 demo ... is there an option to get a report from your assistant and or the other coaches at the club on individual players.

There was one on the old CM games but all I can see is an option to get a report on fitness, on the old CM games you could use it to ask about young player if it was worth renewing there contracts and so on ..

Does FM08 have this option or do you just have to guess what players are worth keeping or better to let go?
