It's not five minutes consecutively, and I'm pretty sure its 5 minutes in the speeded up FIFA time. I usually play as Fernando Torres for Liverpool and I average 5 minutes with the ball, and I don't call for it that much. I like be a pro, if you don't then don't play with it. O and my results are pretty realistic. I drew Arsenal and beat Villa for example.

The guys from EA don't have anything in common with football (soccer). All the game is against the reality, so, don't ask for that.
Example: name the country where the players are going to national team during a league round? None. When the national team have a match all the other competitions are paused. In FIFA-No!

You're loosing because you're not taking control of the match, you can control all the players in a way that for example: when your team are attacking and the ball at one of your teammates who is in a great position to take a shoot, you press d and he shoots, or when the opponent team are in attack and one of your players but not the one you're controlling is near the opponents player with the ball you press either d or a and he tackles right when you press it, (it's kinda like you're shouting what they should do but the listen to you instantly) Also when your team is attacking you can ask for a through ball (W) pass (S) or a cross (A) or a chip through ball (Q+W).
When you know this you'll play easier against them.
I always have good results, and i love this co-op season mode, it really is realistic, i love the way i can open up, run into space play double passes! I think this is a great addition to Fifa!!! Also playin' co-op mode with a friend in the same team is even better! I hope this helped! Peace!

btw, do you notice that when we completed the co-op season, there is option we can export custom team. I did this, but when I loaded this custom team, my fifa 08 error.

As for the error i don't know 'cause i still haven't finished the whole season(i don't play a whole season in co-op only single matches), but if you have a lot of patches, errors tend to happen, if the error happens every time you try to export and then load a team the only thing i can suggest is reinstalling the game and finding a better way of importing files into fifa (with creation master 08 when rinaldo finishes the whole version, the beta one still has some minor glitches, or some other editing program), of course if playing with your exported team means that much to you, also you can just create a player and do all the transfer to a team without having to play the whole co-op season so that's a bit easier way to have your created and transfered players in a club. :)

Be a Pro is by far the best when you play with a mate. I play with my bro, using my own custom team which has myself at CM and rest of my mates in different positions, whereas my brother has added himself to Liverpools starting line up, and we have some awesome games. We've had a couple of games where we have played actual 45 minute halves, with difficulty on legendary and keeper on world class, and had scores of 3-2 and the like after 90 minutes of gameplay! Be a Pro is for me the definitive inclusion in FIFA 08 which prevents it from being seen as a carbon copy of FIFA 07
