View Full Version : WHAT EASPORTS SAYS ON 3DFX!
mladen85 12-03-2000, 02:37:AM This is what ea told me on the phone when I complained that the game ran like sh*t with my 3DFX banshee!
-The card is too old so we didn't bother concentrating on the graphic drivers for this game!
This is what the e-mailed me:
Hi,
The problems you are reporting have not been reported by any of our customers here at this technical support address, at the moment you are the first and only customer who has contacted us regarding experiencing this problem and it does seem an odd one. I have checked the FIFA 2000 forum and read the comments made and I cannot comment on the information reported there as there is no hard and specific technical information relating to their PC's that could enable a diagnosis of their individual problems. We have thoroughly tested this software with all 3dfx cards and there would appear to be no specific problems with the operation of the game on these systems that cannot be resolved through the normal troubleshooting means.
Hard and specific evidence not found? What a load of cr*p! It is quite obvious it's their thrash drivers!? Has anyone else contacted ea on this? If so they are lying cuz they told me that I am the only one with thhe following problems!:
Blacked out stadiums in night games
Jerky play
Fuzzed up numbers
etc etc
I have tried Galahs way of fixing the problem and thankfully it works great! Why didn't they use that thrash driver in the first place is anyones guess?
EA really need to get their act together i thinks!
Respect going out to all you who is having problems with FIFA2000+3DFX. I symathise with you deeply and so should EA!

mladen85 12-03-2000, 11:53:PM I mean their attitude is ridiculous!
KappA 13-03-2000, 03:21:AM Hey man I agree
I have a voodoo 3 2000 and I had to use galah's patch...which works fine now
Yet when i first got the game it just sucked ass literally. I could not stand the bugs like the game loading sideways or going black and smoky during a net game and other stuff...
But to tell you the truth EA are a bunch of pigs...FIFA is a piece of s*it to tell you the truth. Nothing is fair in their game and their AI is just horrible. It's incredibly unrealistic and I get angry every time. I always win, but I notice that at the end of each game i am always tense and frustrated.
If you really want a good game go pick up International Superstar Soccer 98. I could care less about player names or kits like some other idiots here complain about, but I like quality gameplay where i can have fun rather than always be angry. Oh and another good one out right now is MS international football 2000 =)
Cheers
mladen85 13-03-2000, 07:28:PM Yeah i totally agree on the AI! The keepers are especially sh(t cuz they miss the ball totally sometimes! I have got some of the stupidist replays ever! I am making a collection of some really stupid scenes due to AI and I have managed to save 10 in the space of 3 games!
Hey man, i know what u saying. I'm running fifa2k on a voodoo2 pentium. it runs worse than some of my dos 3.1 games. Ea have to sort this out or they will loose me for fifa2k1
mladen85 13-03-2000, 08:18:PM If anyone wants a good game then I suggest you get yourself a Snes emulator + Sensible Soccer! The graphics suck but the gameplay is unbeatable! www.emunation.com
mladen85 14-03-2000, 03:41:AM How come EA can produce an amazing hockey games like NHL2000 and totally screw up on FIFA2000? Also, how come that they bother patching up NHL2000 and dont touch FIFA2000 even though there is stacks more problems with FIFA2000 than the Version1 of NHL2000?
drmancini 14-03-2000, 07:15:PM Hi all
I think those guys at EA are losing the plot. When you see the changes from one version to the next, it seems they go ahead one step and back two. I'm starting to think that not also they want to rip us off hard, but that they don't know how to make things better.
But I'm afraid things will keep on going this way if we as costumers don't make a move. And I'm not talking about writing e-mails to a support team that would tell me a one-year old Voodoo2 is obsolete. What I think we should do is STOP BUYING EA's GAMES until they come out with a DECENT FULL GAME, not just an update, as is the case now. Maybe FIFA2005 will be a game worth considering.
If you think FIFA is a great game, I strongly recommend you play a couple of matches to Konami's ISS Pro Evolution (also named ISS MLS or Winning Eleven 4) on a PSX. THAT'S WHAT I CALL A FOOTBALL/SOCCER GAME!!! I'm even considering getting a PSX just to play this jewel.
Of course, this is only an opinion.
P.S: Sorry for my English
mladen85 14-03-2000, 08:47:PM I have only played the n64 version of ISS! Besides, EA are a bunch of losers but people just dont see that their games are actually cr@p. I dont think we would be able to get anough people not to buy fifa2000 in order to make an impact!
galah 15-03-2000, 03:30:AM Has anyone asked EA why NFS4's thrash driver works? I'm sorry as I haven't kept nagging at them, you would think 6 times is enough.
I'll be setting up a web site soon for those without access to NFS4 thrash driver. You can currently get it from:
www.fifa2000.net but my site will be optimised (no fancy graphics) so you can just get the file and get on with your life. No searching through menus and stuff like that. I'll post the address soon. I think it will be at xoom, a free one, I have spent too much on Fifa2000 already!!!!
drmancini 15-03-2000, 08:22:AM To mladen85:
I didn't mean to start a organised boicot on EAs products, or something like that. I meant: what does it matter if we are satisfied or unsatisfied with their products if we keep buying them? My suggestion is: get the demo, or rent the game and only buy the full game if you really like it. There are other games besides FIFA out there!
And for ISS, I think the N64 version is not as good as the PSX version, so if you have the chance, give it a try. Of course, it's not the perfect game and lacks many options, but it is the most realistic soccer game I've ever played. When you finally score, it's a really rewarding feeling.
To galah:
Thank you for your effort. As I told you in a previous post, your solution didn't work for my Creative Voodoo2 8MB, but I'm sure many Banshee and Voodoo3 users must thank you for not giving up and finding a solution.
fifafanatic 15-03-2000, 10:19:AM I just hope that when Microsoft comes out with the X-box there sport games can compete against EA's games. THen EA will think about releasing better games.
(you know how most sony games made by EA are also available for PC's. Hopefully Microsoft does the same thing)
mladen85 15-03-2000, 02:04:PM I think that when the x-box comes out it will be for people who are total novices in PC computing! Indeed, it will have amazing graphics which will be more than capable for football games but in my opinion people will not bother upgrading it! Microsoft have made a good choice in using a non-3dfx chip cuz no developing company is bothering with the 3dfx chips at the moment. Lets just hope that the next generation of VooDoo cards wil blow away everything away within 1000000000000miles of it! Then everyone will want to produce for 3dfx.
Respect to the 3dfx!
