And I just logged on to the BBC website and THEY are also reporting that an Italian news agency is saying the same thing.

If Eriksson had success,its because he has great players like Veron,Mihajlovic,Salas,Crespo,Lopez and a great amount of infinite cash wich gets him to buy the best players in the world .Dont think just because he won all those titles with Lazio that he will have the same success ,look at Lippi ,he won every single trophy with Juve and yet when he went to inter ,he never won anything .Just dont beleive in hype,just let him be and time will show if he is truly the best coach in the world or just a coach who had an easy time with a strong team .

Damn, the "Coupe Henri Delauney" is the trophy of the European Championship but I meant the new "FIFA World Cup"!

Well, if England doesn't do better now, it is not because of the coach, but because of the player material he will get to work with... Now we will really see what the English are made of...

And for those of you who say that he only has won with Lazio (and infinite cash) don't know much. He won the UEFA cup with IFK Göteborg and the Portuguese league with Benfica just to name a few of his accomplishments.

The bet thing for Australia was when a appointed Venables, so hopefully Eriksson can pull England back together.

hey guys ..... easy .... Svenny is not going to give England Mr. Rimet's trophy. He might have them look at it on TV .... but for now, do not jump to crazy conclusions.

Now Lazio say they won't release Eriksson for the spring qualifiers. So what happens when England wins those games 5-0 under care-taker manager(Alan Shearer), will they still want Eriksson?

My point is appointing coaches to start managing your team 8 months in advance, while you have to win games now just doesn't make sense.

I meant it as half-joke, poking fun at A_Shearer who visits the forum. But wouldn't it be great if Shearer was appointed? that would rule! And he is already appointed as an assistant coach, so why not?

If Alan Shearer were appointed England manager, it wouldn't be fair to the opposition.

We would maul every team we played by at least 3 goals. The World Cup would be no contest.
