i've been playing the game as wolves and the first season was my most annoying fm season ever (because i played it without 8.01) i got promoted and i stayed up and finish in a uefa cup spot.. i've signed some good strikers but they keep underperforming. i signed thiago from some brazilian club.. if any1 knows who i'm on about then u know just by lookin at his stats he's good. but he kept giving me an averaging rating of 6 and hardly scored anything so i sold him. so i thought instead of youth ill go for proven quality next time round... my scouts find me henok goitom (i think thats how its spelt) now his stats are even better than thiago's and in 26 int appearances for sweden he scored 21 goals, so i thought thats a guaranteed goal scorer, and i also bought riga (dutch player, man utd had him) they both have great ratings in finishing technique and composure. and of course even though they should get me goals... they dont! goitem despite his amazing international stats gets rated 6 every game apart from 2 cup games where he scored 2 hat tricks, and riga gets rated 7 and he has sh*t loads of shot and with finishing and composure 18 they all managed to get saved. jus played everton who started yakubu and andy johnson they had 9 shots all match away from home and beat me 5-1 with 9 shots on target. i hav 16 shots 12 on target and lose (this is also a home game btw) and my gk is rly good (felipe brazilian u21).

HOW THE HELL TO I GET MY STRIKER TO HIT THE DAMN NET??? better yet y do all my strikers underperform and come out of the majority of games rated a 6, basically if my strikers dont score in a match, they will get rated 6, sometimes even if they score, they get rated 6.

It depends on what kind of tactic you use. If you have a playmaker, a target man, or bringing in the ball from the wing. Also, take a good look at your Team Instructions in the tactics's screen. With Wolves, I suggest being more on the defensive side and your defenders being deep. Let them get drawn in, and then use some quick quick pace with the Counter Attack. With your strikers composure at 18, they're bound to score. Also, be sure if you do this that your stikers are fast.

My guess? possible problems : Low Adaptability, Composure, Consistency.

cheers for the advice, it reckon my team just needed time to settle i stuck with the bad performaces and changed formation to 451 and now theyve started to play a lot better.

Regardless, this is something LOADS of people have complained about at the SI forums..It is very hard to score..People have game after game of 20-30 even 40 shots, and they dont score..

yeah, you're proly rite. The 2nd engine has many weaknesses. For example here are too many 1on1 situations in front of goal.

The 2D engine is a bit of a joke, i have the same problem, for example I played Chelsea once and had 45 shots in the match! One thing I have noticed which works is to have your focus passing down the flanks. I have found my strikers score better when they are diagonally one-on-one with the goalkeeper rather thank straight on. And this is done by having focus passing on flanks. My main striker has score 53 goals so far in the season :)

lavezzi eh? ill check him out... n ye the engine pisses me off, i'm doing better jus cos my team r working better n creating more shots but we still dnt score the majority of them.. but i'll jus wait til theres another patch released or somethin.

just lost 1-0 to birmingham when i had 18shots on target and they had 4, AND i had a goal dissallowed for being offside despite the fact that my DM banged it in from about 30yds and the player that was supposedly offside was no where near the ball. i hope si sort this out soon cos this is getting damn annoying i cnt play this game for longer than 20mins at a time bcos some fault always causes me to close it in rage. i cud play the last 1 for hours at a time without even realising.

I had about 2 or 3 disallowed goals/game until I installed the 8.0.1 patch

ive decided that i'm never buying another installment of fm again.. cos this yrs has done nothing but annoy me... the last straw was the match i just played.. i hadnt played the game in weeks becos its so annoyin so out of extreme boredom i made the mistake of clicking the little fm icon on my desktop now im extremely pissed off.. jus played az.. 26 shots.. 11 on target.. 56% possesion... yet i lose 2-1! they had FOUR SHOTS!!!! this is my story since ive been playin this game and i dnt enjoy havin to reload overy other game when BS like this happens it makes the game unplayabe.. im trading my copy of fm in for somethin decent 2morrow and never spending money on fm again.. (of course i will still play thru other methods) but im never buyin another fm cd for as long as i live.. not worth it.


i partly think its cos im wolves... i think because i am wolves no matter how good my players or how many cups i win (bcos ive been managin 4 seasons, won a cup every season) this crap will always happen2 me.. i cnt help but think if i was man u or chelsea the matches wud b generated differently.

Yeah Makio, as I said earlier, it's a known issue, and apparently is being fixed for a patch to come out after the transfer window..

But it's stopped me playing meanwhile...I keep dominating matches, having loads of good chances, and can't score.

This year's FM is just ridiculous. I just hope 8.0.2 can at least make the game half enjoyable. Out of the box there's the closing down bug, then they fix that and suddenly we can't score anymore....
