Would you like to be able to:
import your new or updated FIFA 08 custom formations into an existing manager mode career??
resurrect a FIFA 07 or FIFA 08 career that has stalled at the start of a new season because you have more than 30 players on your team and the game crashes when you select 'Next Match'??
stop FIFA 08 crashing whenever you schedule training because you have a player with no growth details??
Well I've added code to fix those situations - with the latter two being different manifestations of the same issue - to my EAFFAnalyser utility and I'm about ready to release a version for beta testing. Whilst I'm sure that my existing testers will give the new features, including fixture decongestion for FIFA 08, a good work out I'm looking for folk with a particular interest in any of the items listed above to give those new features a thorough work out.

it would be very cool, if you could make a program, which records every statistic of every player, like personal fouls, shots on target or how many times he was on the ball... and save it after the game as txt or csv

That one you'll have to ask EA Sports for, I can't report on anything that the game doesn't save in the saved data files.

Actually it isn't well documented - the usage guide is always the last file to get my attention, and updating that is the least interesting part of the job - so it may be me that is lazy :)

You cannot change formations using my program, as such, but you can import the latest state of your custom formations (which includes changes to any existing formations and any new ones that you've created) from the squads file into your manager mode data. Just tick the box next to 'Problem fixing enabled' and then tick 'Import custom formations' in the dialog box that opens. Save from that dialog, make sure you've got the desired manager mode file selected, set output level to Normal, and then Start Analysis. Review the output for any error or warning messages but if there aren't any then you should have a manager mode data file updated with your latest custom formations.

The error 109 is likely to be an effect not a cause (it means that the pipe between the GUI front end and the dump program has been broken at the GUI end). If you did fix this please could you post here the OS details (is this on Vista, perchance??) and what you did to correct it so that I can use that information to help others in the future.

I have no ideas, when I enter manager mode again, I find that updated formations have been there, so I finally have succeeded in importing custom formation.

By the way, My OS is XP Professional SP2.

It sounds like F2K8DUMP ran quite happily in the background but the GUI front-end had a problem. I suspect that the 'Error 109 in Readfile' dialog comes from my error handling code but I don't believe that I've ever triggered that error during my own testing (and indeed that route through the code is bugged, because it attempts to carry on after issuing that message when it really ought to give up).

If the problem happens again would you please get screenshots of each of the error dialogs that pop up and email them to me along with a description of exactly what you were doing at the time the error occurred??

Which makes it even stranger, because that is one environment that I do my own testing under. I assume you are using a Chinese language Windows, but I can't imagine that that would cause an error like this.

Please could I have a little more detail?? I take it you are clicking on 'View Report'. Do you then see an error message?? What is your 'View HTML' option set to on the Options dialog?? Does changing that setting make any difference?? Can you view the pages by double clicking on them in Explorer?? If you get an error dialog is it possible to post (or email to me) a screenshot??

Oh, and for the curious, Zyel's problem arose because he had a manager mode team with no reserves, just the starters and seven substitutes, which triggered a divide by zero bug in the team chemistry calculation. This is already fixed, and there may well be another beta release later this week if I make decent progress with the documentation (I'd like to get it pretty much complete before releasing the final beta of this cycle).

Hi, I'm am i new guy and the only real reason I made a acount, no ofeence was that i saw that you could save my carraer in FIFa 08 on team newcastle. The thing was that 3 yrs ago on the 2010ish mamager mode in fifa i brought Frwench satar makaele. AT that time i dind't know that papayers actually retire in the actuall real game. And he was like ovr 78ish for 500,000. Which i thought was cheap. So i brought him, but ast that time he was like 38. But when i brouhgt i went past 30 players. I brought him then some team wanted to loan him. thinking that wasi good idea i did. Next year his back on my team and he about retire. His got no player growth like question marks. I can't sell him and his just on my reseves. Yr 2012 I'm a 5 star team and his still fraken on the team. On the lsat game of saeason i win. There asre tables sayiung where i am in the Premelr league then it says contract alert. ovlesily it makele but there no info about him so the game lags.

When I try to import formations it says the process was successful, however the formations aren't in the manager mode.
Before I tried this i had all formation slots full and then I deleted them, of course they're still present in manager mode (the old formations)

Any ideas?

Now that is odd, because I've not had any other reports of similar problems and I know that a number of the beta testers are only really interested in this feature.

Please could you take a screenshot of the EAFFAnalyser dialog before you start the import, set the console output level to Normal, save the console once it has run (using the 'Save Console' button - see the usage guide and/or the package read me for file name/location) and then ZIP up the screenshot, console output, manager mode data file and squads file and email the ZIP file to me.

Ok. I'll do it when i have time, maybe on Thursday.

EDIT: by the way I wanted to ask, how many files should the output consist of? and what are their names?

The primary output is an updated manager mode data file with the same name as the input. A backup copy will also be taken with .SAVEnnnnnn_yymmddhhmmssmmm appended to the filename (ugly, but guaranteed to be unique!!)

I don't know what's happening, maybe I spent too much time messing with your analyser, and now I'm too confused to continue trying. I'll just send the files. By the way, it does say that it has generated errors.

The current version is 2.1.7 (build 179). Notification was sent out on New Year's Day and you were included on that email. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll send it again. I'd definitely recommend grabbing the update because it fundamentally changed how the program goes about fixing the 30 player limit problems on the back of a couple of very badly damaged careers that I was sent.

Check the 'Problem fixing enabled' tick box on the main dialog (uncheck and re-check it if it is already checked) and the Update Dialog will open. Tick the 'correct problems arising from signing more than 30 players' option, exit the dialog using the Save button, make sure that the Output Level is set to normal and then Start Analysis. The console output should contain messages indicating whether or not any problem players were found and whether the program was able to fix the issues successfully.

I did check the 'problem fixing enabled' box and the '30 players' option and ran the analyser again to find the problem still remained. Hopefully the update as you've said will work.

Not so. My utility does nothing to help with the situation where the FIFA.DB is modified in such a way as to break a career. I have some ideas on how to fix that, but Rinaldo beat me to it with his 'Save My Career' and my intended approach would require a copy of the original FIFA.DB used to start the career (which itself might have been modified) as well as the updated FIFA.DB (which Rinaldo's utility does not).

I'm afraid not, nor is it ever likely to get out of beta this year as I simply don't have the time, or the inclination, to bring the documentation up to date. However, I have received your email (I've been working away all week, with no Internet access, and thus have only just received it) and will send you details of where to download the beta version.
