Hey guys,

Now, it appears that myself and Fili (now to be known as my bitch (H)) have taken the burden of SG United off of Ruud's valuable shoulders with the near-impossible task of trying to follow on from what an awesome job he's done in the past years, i'm going to say right at the start - don't expect miracles :p

At this moment in time, i honestly have no idea on how long it's going to take me to get the patch out to you guys, there's alot involved and i honestly have no idea how long it's all going to take me. So please, please don't nag me for release dates.

I'm currently in the process of working on a new entry system which'll make things alot easier both for you guys and for myself. Which should hopefully be fully functioning in the next few days/weeks.

For now here's the new logo and kits i've designed, let me know what you think.

Didn't the game only come out about a month or two ago? And isn't this patch usually done well after the game's come out after everyone's had a good chance to play it?

nah in the form you're probably going to be able to choose the position...unless everyone signs up for striker, in which case we'll have to mix it up...but i'm pretty sure we'll get enough variety

there is always the option of having a reserve squad, if enough of the appliants are like u-18 or something...now that'd be awsome :D

Well done with the kits and logo, maybe this patch will finally make me get into FM08. Heh, I've even been playing the good old CM03/04 SG Utd patch lately.

Can't wait for it, but please take your time to make this a good patch, Daz and Fili. Hmmm. Now that I think about it, wouldn't it be better to wait for another official patch before starting to work on this? Surely SI will release another one for such a buggy game, just after the January window closes, and that will come with a data update. Just an idea. Of course, it wouldn't interfere with signups.

well by the time we start actually 'databasing' it, a new patch might have come out, i don't know...for the time being, and because all you guys have to do is fill the forms when they get ready, the patches issue doesn't really matter..

In what league is SG united gonna be put into ? And do they start at the very bottom of the ladder ? I remember SG united from YEARS ago, but I don't remember much from it. I even think I was in that one. But it was so long ago, I might have manifested that memory lol.

Anybody still have any of the old previous SG United patches and is kind enough to upload it? I want to play with the old SG United patches just for the fun of it but can't seem to get the links for them to work.

The next patch is coming out early Feb, so theres still at least a month to set it up and for everyone to apply etc.

I remember the SG United of CM 03/04, I played with 3 defenders and still beat all the best teams, it was so easy (and cool) (H)

Last time it was a lot more challenging. Can't wait for the next one :)

Hey guys, nice work. We really missed this one last year. Although I think we should start higher than league one or league two. I remember from the patch for FM 2006 we easily owned the entire league one, I believe and also all the major clubs from the premier league kept hunting down on the big players. So championship maybe?

Anyway I have some experience working on databases, so if you need help, I'll be glad to offer it to you.

i see your point, but my view is without them we wouldn't know most of the players. At least with nicknames set as our SG user names we'll be able to know exactly who's who.

Hopeunited - read the first post, i can't really set any dates at the moment.

Plan is to get all the signups and everything else non-database related all set up in time for the 8.0.2 patch to be released, then once that's been released we'll start work on the database.

I think nearer the time maybe a vote/discussion to what league the team goes in could be an idea. Though my view is that starting any higher than League One just makes the challenge of getting into the Premiership that bit too easy.

Looking good so far guys. Just read Daz' PM from the 18th of december, that's how busy I've been. (:/) Do you still need pointers? I'd suggest you try to do it your own way, and if you PM me how exactly you want to distinguish between members, how you want to build the players, and how strong you want them to be, I could see if I notice flaws.

probably, i'd say it'd be a good thing...

the thing is we wouldn't want those stupid pictures everybody has making silly faces or next to a lot of people...a nice little mugshot would be good


although each thing at its time, don't go posting around your pictures right away

I have so many plain and simple mugshots stocked up all in preparation for being an FM star one day.

yes the pictures are a definite possibility..but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, for the time being there are other more important things...if only for the fact that we have to input the players before being able to put the pictures..

Nah, let's keep it to one team per game. Else we have too many players with good potential in smallish clubs, and only one of them would be managed by us, meaning big clubs would all get even more young starlets.

Indeed, Kibe is on the money. We have some influence over our own players, but all those losers from the FIFA team would just start owning at Lyon, Barça, and the likes.

With as many people that usually enter, it'll be a task to keep the talent at home. Maybe you guys should consider adding every other club to the disliked column... Nah, that's impossible, of course.

well we could add SG United to the favorites of each player, and then could give you guys the option to add like one more to the favorites and two clubs to the 'disliked'..that would add some excitement..

I forcibly added SG United to the favourites before. There's no way you'd keep one player otherwise. Put another, and they're off there before the start of the first season.

How about upping each player's Loyalty stat as well?

make the team div2, up loyalty add SG as fav team and thats it.
Another reason it should be div2 is that hardly anyone around here plays FM career like, for many seasons, so there's no point in making the team div3-4

im not going to miss the boat on this one! i just got FM 2008 so im lucky i wondered around here for tips at the right time cause i missed out on the last one. ahh this one sounds like it will be glorious....

I don't know if this is what Daz ment to do but how about we create some sort of online script where the computer automatically calculates the total points (so no one has to count it). This also leaves alot of room for player stat customization. It would require someone who knows some basic programming.

To be honest Horatiu, that's far too much effort for what it's worth. I'm going to stick to Ruud's way of doing it where each person selects 3 strengths from each area of attributes and a number given to them depending on their decided CA/PA - which will be a group decision involving myself, Fili and the mods.
