Be prepared for Fifa 2001...play it with maximum performance. Kick your PS2 away!(i think im jealous as i dun haf one)
This is for ALL Nvidia's graphics cards only, sorry voodoo and Radeon owners.

Get St0Be's driver for the best performance for your Geforces! Some TNT-2 owners say 5.45 drivers are faster.

Here is something about Str0Be's Detomax: Tweaked version of this nVIDIA driver is made by Str0Be. All files are
un-modified, and are just mixed for MAXIMUM performance in D3D using the v6.11
drivers, together with the benefits of the stable 2D drivers and fast OpenGL of
the v6.20 drivers. Just install them as usual.

From his FAQ:
Q: So in which games will I notice a performance improvement?
A: You will definately notice massive improvements in:
- Need For Speed 5 - Porsche Unleashed 1024x768x32, all options maxed
- UEFA Euro 2000 1024x768x16, Default renderer quality (3 notches from max)
- NHL 2001 Demo 1024x768x16, all options maxed

You will notice improvements in:
- Re-Volt 1024x768x32, all options maxed
- F.A. Premier League stars 2001, 1024x768x16, all options maxed
- Rally Championship 2000 1024x768x16, all options maxed (no mip-mapping)
- NHL 2000 1024x768x16, all options maxed

These are the primary games I have tested "DetoMAX" with. Now the funny part is
that the most performance gains are noted in newer Electronic Arts/EA Sports games.

HOWEVER:
Q: 3D Mark 2000 gives me worse scores than for example the v6.26 driver. why?
A: I don't know why, but if you look at the details at the end of the benchmark
you will notice that CPU speed is much higher in the "DetoMAX" driver than in the
v6.26 driver. Also the lightning scores with 8 lights is much faster in "DetoMAX".
Anyway, I don't really care about having better 3D marks, cause this is a theoretical
benchmark. The performance gain in games f.e. NFS5 can be seen easily by playing
the Schwarzwald course, with all cars and all options turned on, and the camera
behind your car.

iceboy: the best benchmarks are my eyes...anyway.
When playing Direct3D games I personally find Detomax faster than the official 6.31.
Test for yourself to see if i'm saying the truth... I test out with Euro 2000, works great. Waiting to use it on Fifa 2001!

Hi there Ronaldinho Gaucho.

I myself live in Australia and I spent $750 australian dollars upgrading from my Celeron 333, it retails for about $1000 but got it for 750 through a friend. Im running it with an abit BE6-II motherboard, 128meg ram got an extra 128meg today so will have 256, Diamond Viper V770 TNT 2 Ultra, 2x30gig HDDs and to top it off a Compaq 21" P110 Trinitron monitor running Win2k Pro.

One thing I have realised since getting the 933 is just how important a good video card really is. I run all my games at 1600x1200 (the ones that support it anyway) due to the size of the monitor and quite afew still struggle but others run flawless like Fifa 2000, understandable with this video card at that resolution. If im running for example on a 17" monitor 1024x768 is enough and the games run flawless. With some games there is not that much difference in FPS between the celeron 333 & the P3 933, hard to believe yes but this indicates the importance of a good video card when it comes to gaming especially at 1600x1200 and beyond, generally within Windows in screams so I cant complain. Mmmmm christmas is coming my wish a new video card hehe.

I upgraded to 700mhz athlon and overclocked it to 1ghz. Then I upgraded from TNT2 to GE-Force SDR. I have more recently bought GE-Force2 64mb.

Sip is absolutely right. It is far more important to upgrade the graphic card. Even if you can only afford the basic GE Force it will make more difference than the CPU upgrade.

i am very happy with my voodoo 3d grphics card. i am getting very crispy game play, so no need for me to upgrade. but i would want to get voodoo 5 which rocks all the way.

what do you guys think

no! CANADIAN! don get Voodoo 5... Directx 8.0 final version is coming out soon. Wait till a new graphics card, be it 3dfx's, nvidia's or ati's... that support the new features in Directx 8.0, since it's coming out... all the prices will drop!
