What happened to Patch of the Day? I haven't seen anything posted about it for a while and I can't access their new site. Has Chris Davies given up?

I am SOOOOOOOOOO sorry for not replying to these kinds of messages regarding Patch of the Day sooner, but a lot of things have been going on lately with the PotD website and the patch itself! I know that's no excuse but please accept my deepest apologies.

Firstly (this will give the later part of this message away, but still) - Patch of the Day : The Millennium Update has had it's name changed to Patch of the Day - The End of an Era. The new patch name we believe pays respects to England's greatest stadium, Wembley, being demolished as soon as the AXA Sponsored F.A. Cup Final is over - which this year will be between Chelsea and Aston Villa. Also, quite quietly, the name tries to make a point that this is going to be the last (real - accept no substitutes, people - They're all no match to the Power of the Patch of the Day!) English Super Patch \ Patch of the Day for FIFA 2000, and it WILL knock every other patch out of the water. As good as Soccer Gaming's own Champions League patch is, and as good as the rest are (apart from the other English patches - No offence but downloading them is a waste of your time and money and I'm surprised that you would download such rip-off, quickly put together and completely terrible patches - Remember the English Super Patch started them all and...), Patch of the Day can't be beaten. Anyway, onto the other pieces of news...

As you've probably gathered by that, Patch of the Day : The End of an Era (the patch formerly known as Patch of the Day : The Millennium Update, for those who've skipped the first half of this message), is indeed being made - In-fact, it is now BEYOND being made and into the final furlong (hold on, this is meant to be football not horse racing!)!

To be fair to me, the main creator, Chris Davies, I have finished my part of PotD completely (and I've even had time to double-check every single player individually that I've inputted into the lower leagues), which includes putting in the lower leagues (Division One, Two, and Three - The Conference can either be put in and PotD's release be held back a week or missed out and PotD released this or next weekend - Please reply with your comments on this issue!), making photo-realistic faces (including one player who is David Beckham and Paul Ince, in one face! Don't ask how but it's true!), making better generic kits and making UNBELIEVABLY ACCURATE Premiership kits (as soon as better photographs arrive on the 'net, some latest kits will be added, like Aston Villa's new away kit, Leicester City's new away kit, etc.), making better shorts and socks, better player shirt numbers (the Premiership ones), better turfs, better net, better balls, putting in most-used boots in the English league (Adidas, Nike, and Umbro), better menus (thanks to Rich Butler for his help), and even MMMMMOOOOORRRRREEEEE... So basically my part of Patch of the Day : The End of an Era is completely completed and ready to be released, but...

Andrew "Drinky" Drinkwater (who posts on these forums as "Drinky UKSN" I think) is yet to complete his list entirely, but he has give me his word that he is 99.9% finished and he MIGHT be done by this weekend (or at least the stadiums anyway, you'd best ask him, not me - Sorry Drinky http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif)... I have been mithering him an awful lot to get it done since I have been ready to release PotD : The End of an Era for so long, but I suppose the fact that he is taking longer to do it can only mean that he is putting SO much effort... Either that or he's being a lazy bastard http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif I trust him and I'm sure he will deliver soon and then you can all experience the miracle that is Patch of the Day : The End of an Era that me and Drinky have worked so hard on for so long and made into an unbelievable patch... If you have any questions or anything, reply to this message and either I or Drinky will get straight back to you.

Thanks for your continued support and get ready for the end of an era and the beginning of the beautiful game...

YEAH CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sitting here so unbelieveably pumped up that I dont know what to do with myself. The POTD was a great patch- however, I have been ANXIOUSLY awaiting the "Millenium" update not only for the newer and better kits, rosters, ect, but ESPECIALLY for the stadia!!!!!!!!!!
I am really grateful that you guys are following through on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the patch is everything you guys claim it to be (im sure it will be!!!!)

Personally, I would wait longer to have the Nationwide league...perhaps you could release a patch with and a patch without for those who only want the EPL????

Does the upcoming Millenium POTD includes
all the English Premier League teams plus
all the Nation Wide Div.1,2 and 3 as well
as all the Conference League teams?
I wish I can have all that. Thanks.
And how about the stadiums? Any details?

Great Chris,

I too was wondering what was going on. Dinky get your finger out and lets have this Patch out this weekend.

ESP was the best patch I've ever seen for FIFA and the ease of downloading POTD makes it the best for Fifa2k. Will there be a MOTD tie in or is that another patch. I have become very confused about this? Anyone know?

Call me Dinky again and we'll make sure you don't get a copy http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm working hard at it - I'm working on another editor project for a different game (International Cricket Captain 2) and revising for my GCSEs (2 years of study comes to a head in May) so my time is limited - but I'm busting a gut to make this one the best patch in FIFA history =)
This time, we'll have the full music downloads ready when the patch is released, as well as having everything else. Oh, and chants and...

Wow! A post previously with 3 replies now has 12! And not a bad word in there (I do apologize for "ripping other patches to shreds" "Kostas 7", but I was only trying to stress how better Patch of the Day and this new version really is - Sorry!), I'm impressed and pleased this evening (early morning now)! Anyway, let's get some replies done (although I'm still laughing at "sglean"'s "Dinky", ha ha ha... - No offence Dinky - Errr, Drinky http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif)!

Firstly, Geoff C. (alias "Torch") - As good as Patch of the Day : The End of an Era is, don't get too excited - Ah what the heck! I am glad to see someone as enthusiastic about the patch as I am about making it, and it put a smile on my face and got me working a bit harder on it tonight (although it's hardly possible)! As much as you are looking forward to the stadia, I don't do them (apart from Tranmere Rovers' - How could I resist doing my favourite teams' stadium?) - That's Dinky's - Er, Drinky's (I'm still laughing!!!) department - So if they're crap blame him http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif I know he'll do a great job and I can't wait to see them myself, never mind you! You would wait longer for the Nationwide League huh? Well one thing that's great about the editor used to make the rosters, FEd2000, is that I can add the Nationwide Leagues and later on replace them with the league they replaced (don't get confused...)! So that I will definately do because some people don't like the lower leagues... Strange... Thanks for your reply!

"Kostas 7" - Sorry once again for "ripping other patches to pieces" - I know that some people put a LOT of effort into their patches, but I still maintain that; A) No-one has put as much work into a patch for any FIFA game EVER as we have, B) Patch of the Day is still the best of them all and C) Patch of the Day : The End of an Era will be the best of them all by a much farther distance. I'm sorry but as much as you can say that's just my opinion, it is so obviously true looking at a lot of these patches (although some have come close; the SGOCL patch, the FIFA-LA patches, etc.)... Thanks for your reply! I hope mine is good enough for you...

"jogk" - The upcoming Patch of the Day : The End of an Era patch contains ALL the English Premiership teams PLUS all the Nationwide League Division One, Two AND Three teams in seperate leagues PLUS (subject to demand) the Conference teams in a seperate league. So your wish is already granted! But as well as that, all the Premier league teams' kits, stadiums, etc. are included (read my first post in this subject for more detail!), so stay tuned! You NEED this patch... What exactly do you mean by "how about all the stadiums? Any details?" - If you mean which ones and how many - EVERY Premier stadium, EVERY Div. One stadium, 17 Div. Two stadiums and Cheltenham's stadium (Drinky's team - The "Dinky" joke's worn off now http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif), a realistic-for-the-English-leagues training stadium, and the stadium of the moment and THE stadium of England, Wembley. Is that what you meant? Thanks for your reply!

"Torch" - Again??? He he! Thanks for sticking up to me - I hope "Kostas 7" understands the reply I gave him above! Thanks for your SECOND reply! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif

"sglean" - "Dinky", ha ha ha (reading it and Drinky's reply again has made the joke come alive again)... I agree that it would be GREAT for PotD : The End of an Era to be released this weekend, but I overheard Drinky saying to someone "it's a matter of weeks before he will be finished", although that may have just been a wild rumour told to me by a fellow mad scouser... Plus, as you rightly said later on, GCSE's come first. So we'll have to wait (AAARRRGGGHHH - I know, it's horrible, waiting - GOD let there be no scenario like when the E.S.P. was put back for so long - For those who missed out on the, erm, "occasion", put it like this - It's the first time I've ever been called a fat pig in MESSAGE after MESSAGE after MESSAGE on a PACKED with HATE FILLED messages forum - Plus Matt Holme was called to be "in a wheelchair"... How do they make these things up?)... Where was I? Oh yeah - We'll have to wait and see... Thanks for your comments about the English Super Patch, nice to see someone who has followed my work from the beginning! As for the ease of downloading PotD - Well, it could be easier - I don't know what connection you have but 14mb is a lot for quite a few of us... But we're working on it - Although having 64 stadiums and a new menu for every current one in FIFA is going to put the size RIGHT through the roof! PotD was named after MotD, yes - We would have called it MotD but the BBC are as powerful as EA and a lawsuit is something I can't afford (and I presume Drinky can't either)... So, Patch of the Day sounded wittier anyway, so what the hell! The new menus MAY actually be based on MotD, IF we can get away with it, as it would be nice to see Lineker and the gang as they appear on the show! Thanks for your reply! "Dinky", he he he...

"Drinky UKSN" - Erm, do I need to reply to my own colleague??? Ah well, what the hell... He he! Everything you say is understandable - Just hope that your life calms down soon so we can deliver this lovely patch to all these lovely people... Good luck on your GCSE's and that other editor (although I should hope that would come second...) mate! Thanks for your reply!

Looks like I'll have to do 2 seperate posts to reply to all of you with, the forum isn't liking my one big one... Read the next post for all the other replies!

As my Grandad sings, "here we are again, happy as can be, all good friends and jolly good company"... Or some old mad banter 1940's song http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif Here is the concluding part of my last list of replies.

"Schumacher" - NEITHER CAN I, NEITHER CAN I, NEITHER CAN I!!!!!! And I can wait for the Conference teams too. So that's 1-0 to NO CONFERENCE TEAMS F.C. then...
Thanks for your reply!

"a_shearer" - I'm afraid until good pictures of that kit come along (and that also goes for all the other new ones that have popped up since the year 2000 arrived), the 99\00 kits will be used. Sorry, but thanks for you reply anyway!

"Torch" - AGAIN??? He he... Mate, it's not up to me when we will see it. I have finished my part of it! As soon as Drinky finishes his part of it it will be uploaded somewhere here at Soccer Gaming or FIFA 2000 Online. I can't wait either, but poor old Drinky is getting very busy lately... As for the site - Well, it was deleted (by what or whom we will never know...) from the Soccer Gaming and FIFA 2000 Online sites (although when I moved to FIFA Centre Spot for a brief moment, that site stayed there - Although I wasn't there long enough to update it, Soccer Gaming was too much of a draw from me when Matt offered me the place here again!), and when the new one will pop up, no-one knows. When the patch itself is finished, I suppose - Then perhaps I will have the time to make one! Thanks for your reply!

"sglean" - Your second post is more to Dinky (I'M STILL LAUGHING!!! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif) than to me, but I might as well comment anyway... "So hurry up" - I like your style http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif But, like you said earlier in that post, "GCSE's take priority". If I don't speak to you and PotD : The End of an Era doesn't arrive by Monday (if it doesn't - Blame Dinky, er, Drinky - Sorry, you all hate me now don't you http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif), have a happy birthday! And yes, that last sentence of your post sounded gay - But let's not go into that - I've already offended someone by saying how bad other patches will be compared to PotD : The End of an Era, god knows what amount of complaints we will get talking about gay sentences http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif Thanks for your reply!

Well, that's about it isn't it? Yeah I think so. Keep replying, thanks for all of your support and hope to see you all again soon!

Yeah, I guess I did get a little carried away there...its just that I have quit playing Fifa2000 out of frustration (both gameplay issues and lack of a "total" EPL experience. See, My favorite leagues are the EPL and Nationwide and I want to play em with as much realism as possible. So,in anticipation of POTD millenium everything available sort of paled in comparison. I REALLY tried to get into PLStars but the controls were just too annoying. So anyway...I wont be pestering anymore...my enthusiasm got the best of me. Just a mini-reply before I go to the bank and try and get a loan out for my phone bill (if they don't pay up I may be cut off next Thursday, I just don't have £137 at the minute) http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif

"Torch" - You didn't get carried away, I was only joking! It makes a change to see someone as entusiastic as me about PotD (and also someone filled with hate towards TFAPLS, like me - The graphics are great (the stadiums are FANTASTIC, it would be GREAT to be able to convert them into FIFA 2000 format and get rid of all the EA SPORTS logos and make them even MORE realistic!), but the gameplay is the WORST I have EVER seen in a game, EVER!)! You weren't pestering me and you never have been, so please still keep replying to this topic if you have more questions! Thanks for your reply! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

"jogk" - NEARLY all? NEARLY ALL??? EVERY SINGLE Premiership AND Nationwide League team (maybe INCLUDING the Conference) is included in PotD : The End of an Era! Perhaps there are only the whole of the Premier, Div. One and nearly the whole of the Div. Two stadiums, but you're only allowed 64 in the game! But still, all the TEAMS are included! I'm glad you like the E.S.P. for FIFA 99 and DON'T WORRY; PotD for FIFA 2000 will be the best patch EVER for a FIFA game, ever. Thanks for your reply!

Hey Chris, just out of curiosity, what do you do in your spare time when you're not making patches...student? Job???

Chris Davies (E.S.P. Man)
21-04-2000, 04:29:PM
Mind your own business "Torch"! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif In my spare time... Well, apart from my patch making I have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week free... I was chucked out of school because of migraines, they tried to get me back in to my regular school, and once even tried a hospital school! But no-one could keep me in school, my migraines are so bad. "They" are trying to get me into a college so I can get my GCSE's and stuff (I am clever enough, but I've missed SO much work), but I haven't heard nothing yet. So until I do (god knows when), I am free 24 hours a day. I'm only 15 (friendless (apart from the people here on the 'net) and FAT http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif) so I can't really get a job anywhere, and even if I was 18 I don't have qualifications so I wouldn't get a decent job... I have a happy life though because I do Patch of the Day, which is the only job I'll ever get and it's the only thing that currently keeps me sane, along with my mates here on the 'net like Drinky. Anyway, I bet you're wishing you hadn't asked now http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif Hey, have you checked out that PS2 FIFA 2001 movie? Wow!!! God, I hope I don't have to spend money on a PS2 as well! If the graphics and anims are like that on the PC it's going to make a great platform for a Patch of the Day! Just a thought... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif See you later (and thanks for your reply "Torch")!

Thanks for your support and sympathy guys! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gifThis forum doesn't like a lot of words in a message so once again I've had to split it into two. Sorry!

"Torch" - Hehe, thanks, I'm blushing http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif I would tell you how to make your own jerseys but since I presume your main intrest is the English league, you're best to wait for PotD : The End of an Era. I didn't realise I was so good - For the original PotD I just converted the E.S.P. for FIFA 99 ones so I could release it sooner, but then I did work for a solid week and, wow, like I say, I didn't know I could do anything more than just typing in team and player names and stats http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif Thanks for your reply (I'm STILL blushing http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif)! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

"Le Bodge" - Hehe, thanks - Another guy making me blush, jesus - How many times can you type blush in one message http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif I did actually inquire to EA UK about the possibility of working on or even just BETA testing the FIFA series (or any EA (Sports preferably though) game, apart from the odd one I've played and loved them all!) - I got a good word from a fella here at EA UK, who said that the assistant producer had talked to the "main man" in Canada about me - That was a few years ago, heard nothing since http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif I would keep pushing but although some of the answers given in interviews here at SG were really just appauling and sad for the company, they are apart from that OK, and FIFA is the best footie game I know (I have ISS Evolution and Champions League 99\00 Season, and even though I really know that ISS is better, FIFA 2000 is the game I always play instead - In fact, I haven't touched ISS since I bought it in March and I haven't played CL99\00 more than twice!), so I don't want to bug them. Thanks for your reply!

Here's part two...

"fifafanatic" - Ah, the install-us program strikes again http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif There seems to be a bug in the program used to make the install program where a fault is caused with one standard Windows file (something to do with division by zero) - All I can say is that I do apologize, but thanks to people like yourself reporting these errors, the next version will be available both in a handy-dandy sweet-like-candy installation package, and a (self-extracting AND normal kind, just in case some of you have problems with the self-extracting one - You have to be one step ahead all the time http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif) .ZIP file for those who can't run the installation program version. You won't need the current version of PotD to run it, and since it's better, I'd wait another week or two. One thing I can suggest though it that since you say the last 4mb is downloaded in something like 4 seconds, I'd try (sorry, I know - And it probably won't work either! But it may be the case, the last 4mb shouldn't take like 4 seconds, this really should fix it! If not, then I'd just wait for The End of an Era) downloading it again... Thanks for your reply, sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Keep those replies rolling in, and thanks for your support!

Just a thought - Drinky promised me yesterday that he would send me an E-Mail with his Liverpool stadium attached so I could put some new screenshots up for you all to see... It never came... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif It is obvious that it is going to take Drinky ages to finish his part of PotD : The End of an Era, so how would you feel about me posting Patch of the Day : The End of an Era WITHOUT Drinky's part; the new stadiums, crowd chants and English Legends teams (if Drinky agrees to it, which I hope he will)? I know the stadiums are a big loss (and having the crowd chants and English Legends teams would be nice), but we could release them in an update later on, if that's what you want... Or we could wait for Drinky to finish... What do you think? Please reply to this message with your opinion, it would help me out a lot. Thanks!

Thanks for all your replies in such a short space of time guys!

"a_shearer" - Well, my original PotD site here at SG was deleted (by whom or what we will never know...) from the Soccer Gaming and FIFA 2000 Online sites (although when I moved to FIFA Centre Spot for a brief moment, that site stayed there - Although I wasn't there long enough to update it, Soccer Gaming was too much of a draw from me when Matt offered me the place here again! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif), and when the new one will pop up, no-one knows. When the patch itself is finished, I suppose - Then perhaps I will have the time to make one! As for the stadia, well, A) I don't know which we need, Drinky won't divulge any information to me at all about what he is doing, except for a load of fake dates when he will have finished by http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif, B) there aren't really any English stadia out there on the 'net, and C) even if there was, we want ours to be top notch and not one of these that has been done by a fan of, say, Manchester United, who has obviously never been inside the stadium and hasn't done much research either - So we're best to make them ourselves I think. Thanks for your reply!

"cjsturgess" - Thanks for your reply! It's now officially 1-0 to releasing the patch without Drinky's part. I mean, he said he would have sent that Liverpool stadium after "dinner" on Friday, but it never arrived, it is obviously too much for him to do - He was actually hours away from quitting the team a week or two ago because of his workload so it must be too much... Today he promised me he would send ALL the Premiership stadiums later on, but I beg of you, don't take that too seriously because Drinky has been making promises like that since the year 2000 began (he mustn't be compatible http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif)... If he does, then I'll be able to release PotD with Premier only stadiums, if that's what you want, and release the rest in an update later this YEAR knowing Drinky, but like I've said, he probably won't, so don't get your hopes up... Thanks for your reply!

"Torch" - Hahahahaha, hehehehehe, hohohohoho... He has given me a release date every single WEEK ("I'll be finished this weekend, I SWEAR" - EVERY WEEK!) for MONTHS on end, so it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a real release date out of him. Like I say, he said he would send me a Liverpool stadium on the dot - 2 days ago! And he said a minute ago he would send me ALL the Premier stadiums this afternoon - Tell me (I don't think he understands this, no offence to him), wouldn't you be pissed off if he hadn't delivered in MONTHS after you had finished, and wouldn't you be pissed off if he keeps promising you on his LIFE he will deliver (EVERY weekend without fail), and then saying he was too busy? Lately I have gone to chat with him and he has gone offline straight away, and this concerns me a lot (although he keeps saying that it was a co-incidence)... So really, I don't know what your vote is! It's 1-0 to releasing it without Drinky's part (stadiums, crowd chants and English Legends teams), would you believe Drinky and vote for waiting, or be sceptical and vote for releasing it now? Thanks for your reply!

Chris,

I think that you should release the Patch of the Day without Drinky's bit because everyone has been in great anticipation over this patch and would love it when it is finally released.

However, it would be god if you could release Drinky's part of the patch as an update.

I think I must come in here. Please visit http://www.entiredata.demon.co.uk/indigo/ and have a look at I2Ed - this is what I have been working on as well. I'm behind on POTD because of this. Its basically a FEd for International Cricket Captain 2, a game for which there are lots of fans but no editors. Unlike the FIFA scene, there are no dedicated editing people, no downloadable extras, and a couple of sites. I feel I've done something worthwhile here. The last thing I need is Chris moaning at me behind my back. I'm working damned hard on the stadia - what more do you want?

"lufc16" - Thanks for your reply! That's 2-0 to releasing the patch without Drinky's part then...

"Drinky UKSN" - I know you are busy with that but does that give you the excuse to make promise after promise and break promise after promise? I mean, the exams you're taking take first priority but why say "this weekend" when you know it isn't going to be? I wouldn't mind if you just gave your honest opinion! I ask you now so that everyone can see this; Can you give us an honest guess when you will have finished? As for the fact I am moaning behind your back; A) I wouldn't say it was behind your back, it's at the forum of the place where you work for god's sake! B) Can you blame me? Like I've already said, I can understand things taking you ages to do (exams and this editor), but giving a realistic release date is all I want, not a "this weekend" promise, because it destroys me - I've believed those promises week in week out for too long... C) Although I've said this to you a MILLION times when we have privately chatted, I have seen no evidence you are working "damned hard" on the stadia (although I do believe you are), especially since that Liverpool stadium you posted to me to take screenshots with hasn't arrived since you SWEARED you do it after "dinner", 3 days ago, and D) You're not moaning behind my back? Yeeeaaahhh, whatever http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif Look, I know you're a great guy, I don't want to argue with you and I don't want to offend you (as stupid as it may sound I didn't mean to), but I can't help getting pissed off because of your promises and the AGES waiting. I'm sorry but I can't change how I feel and I can't lock it up inside me, I'm not one of those kinda guys. Sorry!

"a_shearer" - Drinky has a point (I know you're only joking though) - If he is making something in a field unexplored for a game then that is really great, and I wish him all the luck in the world with it (and his exams)... It's just that I hate being on the 'net every weekend after being promised everything done and seeing nothing! Thanks for your reply...

"Mamoo" - I have finished everything I have to do, all that's left is for Drinky to finish his stadiums, crowd chants (I think they're already done, I'm not sure) and English Legends team sheets for me to input into the game - I'm not sure but I don't think Drinky needs any help. However, if he does I'm sure he'll get back to you when he sees me "moaning behind his back" again http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif Thanks for the offer though!

Boy, the development of this patch is turning into a television drama? Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Chris, it's really your call as to how you want to release the patch. Patch development is a hobby and if Drinky is beginning to feel the pressure of meeting deadlines, then I believe he should step down and let you release the patch without the stadiums. Looks like drinky took up too many committments with his tasks and plus being a webmaster over hear at FIFA2000 online. But you can't blame the guy.

Chris, in the future, you should have certain deadlines within the development team, that way you know how much more time needs to be taken. Anyways, hope you solve your problems and good luck on the patch.

Drinky- I just want to say that I understand you have other commitments and are busy- however, I for one have been anxiously awaiting the POTD update since Xmas. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE finish the stadia!!!!!!!!!!! I am REALLY looking forward to playing you and Chris' masterpiece in its FULL glory!!!! Im sure that the patch would be good w/o the stadia- but to me half the fun of playing with the patch would be the cool EPL stadia and EPL chants.

Here's my pathetic plea- please be honest with yourself....if you cant get the patch done in say a week, then admit you're too busy and turn the work over to somebody else- a lot of people have volunteered to help you out.... nobody meant to give you **** before...we just REALLY want to play the FULL POTD!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks.

YYYYYAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! We have a deal folks http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif Here's the deal; I don't know when, Drinky didn't say (I would hope today, but we shall see http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif), but what's going to happen is PotD : The End of an Era shall be released with all the stadia Drinky has done so far (last time we spoke he had only 4 Premier stadia to do - If he hasn't done them yet, don't fear, I will do them http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif), crowd chants (Drinky has them all in .WAV, but is having trouble getting them into FIFA 2000 format; If he can't do it, I'm sure I'll find a way http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif) and English Legends teams (which I will now do), plus all my part; The kits of all the Premiership teams and England's national kit, all the shorts most used in the English leagues (courtesy of Joey Jones of FIFA-CS), all the socks most used in the English leagues (courtesy of Joey Jones of FIFA-CS), all the boots most used in the English leagues (the Nike pair courtesy of Xavier Baez of FIFA-LA), photo-realistic faces (courtesy of Xavier Baez of FIFA-LA - One of which looks like both David Beckham of Man. U. AND Paul Ince of Middlesbrough!), the NEW Sky Sports graphics patch (downloadable seperately in approximately 2 days, courtesy of Xavier Baez of FIFA-LA), 2 sets of turfs designs for you to choose from (colourful ones from The F.A. Premier League Stars, or more realistic ones, courtesy of Sahar Ben-Attar of EURO-ball), 3 balls for you to choose from (the exact white Mitre Premiership ball, the exact yellow Nationwide Leagues ball or the exact orange Premiership ball used in snowy weather), new net design (as used in most English grounds), new corner flags (the same design as one of the linesmen's flags, if EA would care to put them in the game), new player numbers (as used in all English leagues), even a new MOUTH design (you can now see the tongue properly when the mouth is opened, and players smile when they score but look like they are concentrating, as they would really, while they are playing), plus new photo-realistic crowds, beautiful all-new menus (designed by Rich Butler), updated rosters for every team in the game (courtesy of Jochen Tree) and, of course, newly added Football Leagues Division One, Two and Three. A small update will be released pretty much straight after PotD : The End of an Era itself is released, so if you prefer to have the Premiership and none of the Nationwide Football Leagues to be in there (and by doing so you can have the Israeli, Brazilian and MLS leagues back), that will fix it for you. I may have forgotten something but I think that's it http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif As you can see this patch is going to rock, so keep your eyes open, PotD : The End of an Era should be arriving VERY soon indeed (no release date though, I don't want there to be a big fuss like there was for the E.S.P. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif)!

Just a few quick replies to those who replied on "Page 2" of this PotD topic (I'm really thrilled it got to 2 pages! Thank you all!)...

"Le Bodge" - You're welcome, thank you, and I wouldn't lose sleep over it - You know what Drinky's schedule's like from these past messages, it mightn't be up THAT soon... Thanks for your reply! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

"jogk" - You are welcome, we hope it will be released soon too, we are anxiously waiting too, and yes it is necessary for both players of a modem league to have PotD : The End of an Era installed on their systems, as with all patches. Thanks for your reply! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

"a_shearer" - We know, isn't it? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif Thanks for your reply! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

"garrysheils" - An FFN file... Erm, a FIFA-Mania commentary file I think, where you can put any .WAV file into an .FFN useable in FIFA 2000! How to edit it? Well you don't edit them, you make them, but I'm afraid I couldn't tell you how to! I tried once before using FEd2000 to get the FFN file to be used for the player\team, but FIFA 2000 just crashed when it came to say it. I think a lot of work has to be done on it before it will work 100% correctly, and maybe then I will be able to do it and I will be able to tell you how to do it... Thanks for your reply! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

That's all for now - COME ON DRINKY, WHERE ARE YA? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif

Chris, will we have to download the original POTD to get this one running, as we did for FIFA 99? (By the way, I tried downloading the Original ESP from the FIFA 99 site last week, but Winzip said it did not hava a valid archive)

Also, will the Newcastle home kit be in 64 colours. If not, I have an absolutely perfect one (not made by me, though) which I am willing to give to the POTD cause (I'm working on an away one too if it's any help).

Just a few quick replies - But first, a personal note... I have just got the FreeServe offer where you pay £10 a month for COMPLETELY FREE Internet (no 'net phone bill charges, etc.), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I'll be able to come here and reply to messages straight away and also I'll be able to upload PotD : The End of an Era to LOADS of different download locations for easier downloads and make more updates and post them A.S.A.P. Plus, as soon as PotD : The End of an Era has Drinky's part added to it (I haven't seen him in AGES - Drinky, if you're out there, PLEASE E-Mail me or SOMETHING!), it will be posted that very SECOND. WOO-HOO in layman's terms http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif Plus no big phone bills to pay etc. which helps me out a lot. Just thought I'd let you know http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif On to the replies...

"steve-e-o" - No, you do NOT have to download the original PotD to be able to play PotD : The End of an Era. That would be a bit of a pain in the arse seeing as the size of both patches put together is practically an entire hard drive http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif FIFA 99's E.S.P. is corrupt at FIFA 99 Online - I really want to put it up but haven't had the time with phone bills being so expensive - But now it's only £10 a month I will upload it PROPERLY as soon as FreeServe send out the stuff I need to pay £10 a month (some call router thingy). As for the Newcastle kits - 64 colours? 64 COLOURS?!?! Hahahahaha - They are 120+ colours matey http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif And they are also 100% perfect. By the way, this is just a question I would like you to answer (you seem to be a Newcastle fan) - Is their second kit REALLY white? And do they have a third kit, and what colour is that? Not that I'm making them again for the patch, they are already done, but I was having a discussion with a fellow Tranmere fan and we would be really intrested to know, since when Tranmere played Newcastle in the F.A. Cup both teams wore similar kits... Thanks for your reply (hope to see your reply to my reply, this reply, soon http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif)!

"Torch" - You said it (a hell of a lot of times too) http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif I am still anxiously awaiting the patch (Drinky's part anyway) and I agree Drinky should get a move on, but he is very busy and I'll just be glad when he sends them. FIFA 2000 will be seen by all in a new, better and brighter light when PotD is released, I swear, so get the dust off, install it now and get ready - PotD is not far away at all! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif Thanks for your reply!

We're nearly there now folks - Let's give our support to Drinky and see this thing rock the world - Drinky, Drinky, Drinky, Drinky, DRINKY, DRINKY, DRINKY, DRINKY, D-R-I-N-K-Y, D-R-I-N-K-Y, D-R-I-N-K-Y, D-R-I-N-K-Y!

I know we're all desperate for Drinky to finish his bit of the patch, but come on, exams are more important! I'm sure a few of us here have exams coming up, (I know my A-Level exams are), so we all understand the pressure that you're under Drinky. And perhaps there is another reason that Drinky is taking so long - maybe he's making the stadiums as good as they can possibly be...

Yes, our away kit is indeed white, with little green bits under the sleeves. I remember the Tranmere match, and their white & dark blue was very similar to our Black and White.

Awkward, that.

No 3rd kit, though next season's away kit is black with light blue trimming (same design as the new Spain away kit, if that helps)

NEWS FLASH http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif

Just got this E-Mail from Drinky. The story behind it is I was on mIRC (he's not on ICQ or any other chat program) trying to talk to him, but I was getting no replies. I thought he was ignoring me or something so I just left with a "sigh". Well today I got an E-Mail and I think you may be pleased (if this is correct and I get Drinky's stuff on Friday, expect a Friday\Saturday\Sunday release date folks!)...

He basically said he wasn't replying because he had mIRC running in the background but wasn't looking at it; He was working on his PotD stuff with a load of editors. Woohoo, thank god http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif And he said his free time comes to an end on Friday (12th May 2000) and so he will send me what he has been able to complete by then and as for the stuff he hasn't been able to do, I'll try and finish - Unlike poor old Drinky, I have 24 hours 7 days a week free, so I should be able to finish it a lot quicker too http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif Anyhoo, just thought you may want to know the news! Oh and by the way, if you're thinking of downloading EURO 2000; Patch of the Day with FIFA 2000 is better AND smaller in size AND an update will make it (as soon as all the playoffs in the English leagues are over) 2000\2001 season! Well, I was hopeful, but as Saturday draws to an end, absolutely NO word from Drinky. No E-Mail, no sign of him on mIRC or ICQ, nothing. Another promise broken (nothing new to me) but this time he had to break promises to more people than just me. I have been on the Internet since I woke up this morning and I knew after the TONS of times he's done this to me before he would break it today as well but I didn't think he would have the heart to break his promise to all you people as well. I'm sorry but I am quite disgusted tonight. Don't worry, no matter what happens PotD will be released, either by me and Drinky or myself, and I still regard Drinky as a great mate, but when he made that promise he brought in innocent people, telling them he would definately deliver today (if it was his promise broken to me I wouldn't mind but why hurt all these people for no reason...), and it's not very nice at all. I apologise on my and his behalf, and I will try my best to get in contact with him and release PotD as soon as possible.

Sorry once again,
