Mourinho? :(

I think Mourinho won't. He wanted a job outside England, right?

Shearer, anyone? Wouldn't surprise me, he was always rumoured to replace Robson back in the day, when he was still a football player.

Shearer would be nice. I have no sympathy for Newcastle but somehow I do want Shearer to do well and Newcastle is the best place for him.

Newcastle are like the mini Real Madrid, new coach every season now. IMO they should have given him more time till end of the season atleast. Can Newcastle find a better manager to replace him? I somehow doubt it.

I wonder why was this impatience. I know Sam would have taken Newcastle back to the top in a few years. You can't build a good team in a half-year. The pressure was huge on poor guy, no wonder he left

Zlatan

Yeah I agree, he went too fast. But it seems to be a trend in football nowadays, to not give your coach some credit, certainly in England.

First of all I'm shocked...... and relieved.

Newcastle has talent, and despite injuries, he should have been able to produce more than what he was able to achieve. It is unfortunate, but is time to move on. Now lets see who can do better for the remaining part of the season.

I wouldn't mind seeing Shearer...

the shearer appointment would be a popular one, both with the fans and the romantics ...
That's the problem though... I don't think Shearer would be that much a popular appointment. It would be a huge shot in the dark as he has no experience. I think Alan recognises this alo which is why he's ruled himself out quickly today. Having him as a first team coach would be though!

Anyway, my reaction to all this: Meh... Sam was making it hard to care with all the stange tactics and decisions.

Haha Newcastle, what a cancer team. They are like the New York Knicks of soccer.

Personally I thought Allardyce should've been given a bit more time (at least one full season) to set his feet. To come into a big underachieving club like Newcastle with such high expectations and pressure is difficult, not to mention changing the team's fortunes in half a season.

Help?

I still think that no manager will last long there, until Alan Shearer steps up. The fans want it, the club seems to want it and its just bound to happen. Newcastle board seem to think that they can find somebody better out there that will deliver and fast unlike Allardyce. Well, if they do manage that, kudos to them, but i think its a big mistake. Maybe i'm wrong but it just seems that the club is holding the position until Shearer decides to say "OK, i'm ready, let me have a crack at it".

Talking to a mate about this news, I said "ah yeah the old mutual consent, did he fall or was he pushed?", he replied "must have took a really strong bloke to push Big Fat Sam out of the Toon" (H)!!!

Though some sites (F365 for example) state that he was sacked, rather than the departure being mutual, hmm where have I seen that before already this season? *cough* Mr A *cough*. Anyhow I'm not surprised that Sam's gone, he spent a lot on players, one of which has spent more time in police custody (£5.8m for jailbird chav Barton), and had a bad run of results..... well, his Toon side couldn't even get a win over Derby in two meetings which is bad enough!!

Apparently Shearer said that he doesn't want the job?

Wouldn't rule out Gary Speed for the post.

Or dare I say...

Football's gone mad.

Read that Redknapp > Newcastle, Houllier > Portsmouth.

I feel sorry for the Geordies. There's only so much a manager can do to achieve success, but when the players don't live up to the standards/expectations that you'd associate with such a big support the manager is always the first to get the sack. That's always been the way it goes I guess.

Not sorry for Allardyce, though I hear he's bunged up with a nasty cold. Anyone know anything? :(

Why on earth would Shearer want to leave his comfortable spot at Match of the Day for the manager chair at the Toons??!? If i was him, i'd never do it :D

Apparently the so called "N'Zogbia situation", that was rightly spotted by The Special One on Setanta Sports, was the thing that brought Big Sam outta the club.

I hope our moronic following realise that Keegan is not going to bring fast flowing football over night with the bunch of hoofers we have in the team at the moment.

He'll need to replace those hoofers as soon as he can. Also it fine to have players who can use their aggression in a controlled manner, but when you have the likes of Butt, Smith and Barton who do not have control over themselves, all playing in the first team, that is like waiting for a bomb to go off in every game. Anyhow in my opinion Butt and Smith are crap. Smith was OK for a while when he was at Leeds but has been rubbish ever since. Butt has always been crap.

If Keegan gets the funding, he will rebuild from pretty much scratch I would think, so those guys are on borrowed time anyway.

Will Toon fans be more patient with Keegan? I would hope so because he will not change things overnight. I hiope he succeeds though. The majority of Toon fans deserve that.

Agreed..

I will be happy with seeing a stable team and results.

I would call Newcastle pathetic...they appoint a new manager after every half season, but the results are the same, maybe Newcastle's weak results aren't because of the manager. We all know Big Sam and Kevin Keegan are quality managers, i would even say Souness is a good one, though he clashed with almost all the then-Newcastle "stars" like Bellamy, Laurent Robert etc..Glenn Roeder doesn't have a name like Big Sam but it's obvious even he could have produced the same winless-streak

I've always been surprised at how badly Newcastle seem to do every season, particularly because growing up, Newcastle was a pretty big name club, not Arsenal or anything like that, but you'd always expect them to challenge for the UEFA spots.

Newcastle have under-performed from times unknown....
They never fail to dissapoint every dam season.....
I think they really need a complete makeover.from the Borad to Back Room Staff and obviouslt the manager and players.......
I was just amazed to see that after losing so many games so heavilt the players and the manager had the courage to go for the Fashion show(organised by Given)....That says it all bascially.....
Meh..I have only sympathies for their fans...
