Yep!!!! Don't even download the demo if you haven't. It's total crap. The gameplay is worse than Fifa 2000, the pitch is bigger but the gameplay makes it look like crap. The players are real looking but the crowd and the stadiums are crap. The power shot bar is really cheap. It's still the same old stuff, you know, sprint past everyone from the middle of the field and then score. EA sucks!!!!!!!!!!!! What the helll happened to the good old stuff like fifa 98 and wc 98? DON"T BUY FIFA 2001.

It's not that bad, I've been playing the full version with my friend who reviews games for a site (he reviewed the PSX version too) and it's okay. But after playing ISS Evolution I can't go back - Fifa is too simplistic. The refs are still blind too....

are the ball physics scripted in fifa2001 (like in all other fifa games) ?

i played the demo for 5 minutes....
got with these observations :

1- ball physics are new and well done, player graphics are the best ever and the overall graphics are amazing!

2- the pitch is bigger and the speed is more realistic,but the gameplay is pretty much the same as before.

3- i scored a 90mph powered header int the top corner, and the shot bar is the same if u hit it too long or not it's still going too accurate..unrealistic at all!

4- same Ref.**** and deadly tackles, no improvement at all

bottom line:

STICK TO ISS NOTHING CHANGED!

Ball physics are scripted, and headers are too darn fast - a clearing header in the mid-field goes faster than most shots!

yeah i jus played the demo - i cudnt handle more than 5 - 10 mins ... scripted ball physics and heaps of other gameplay gripes - certainly aint buying this game

I agree, it's not great. But it's better than 2000 was. World Cup Soccer for my ancient Game Gear was better than that trash.

I agree that the bigger pitch size emphasizes the crap AI + control. In previous FIFA you didnt have as much time to notice but with bigger pitch you really notice that the only players reacting to the ball are the 2 or 3 nearest, other wise they run along in formation the exact same up and down..
What the hells with that scripted curving shot from outside the box??
Watch as any player in the game hits a Robrto Carlos style shot from anywhere..but dont expect to score because the keeper speed is still the same as before. Heh stick zola in goal and watch him outjump bierhoff.
