View Full Version : Work Permit again
KingPaulV 07-02-2008, 10:47:PM I know how to apply for a work permit, but I just started playing with Bristol City (i've been playing the Spanish league prior to this) and I cannot get my work permits aproved, are there any special conditions, time frames for them to get approved, i've had over 7 potentially great signing turned down....and i dont know if there is a specific thing I need to do to get them approved, please enlighten me...
champdave 08-02-2008, 08:39:AM The players have to have played a certain % of games for their national team in the past 2 seasons to be able to get a work permit (unless the player shows such talent that the Home Office decide that they have a work permit anyway) - if you're playing for Bristol City I'm guessing the players you are trying to sign aren't international players?
i think having a high PA affects it also
Filipower 08-02-2008, 12:31:PM ^^ yes, that's what dave said basically
champdave 08-02-2008, 03:04:PM i think having a high PA affects it also
Well in "real life" if the player hasn't played enough games they can still get a work permit (and thus a residence permit) from the UK if they are talented enough - this usually means ability-wise rather than potential ability; after all it's the courts/HMR&C who decide if they get the work permit not a football scout! So I'd guess it depends more on a high CA than a high PA, if it's being realistic.
if you were 18yr old thiago luis for example it's rather likely you'd get a work perm

KingPaulV 08-02-2008, 04:24:PM ah I see, yeah, most of teh guys I am going after are not internationals; but then again my transfer budged is only like 70K so is not like I can get that many great guys for that little, I have resorted to loans instead and free transfers....I am doing quite well almost halfway thru and place 5th, above all expectations and in the quaterfinals of the league cup, (that's cause I've gotten lucky have only played against either League 1 or Championship teams thus far no premiership until the quaterfinals
KingPaulV 12-02-2008, 04:48:PM Alright this stupid work permits are driving me nuts, so I gotg promoted, (dont ask me how it was a miracle) and now that I am in the premiership I had 23 mill to spend, so I went after a number of players inlcuding premiership players and the stupid work permit is still an issue, how is it that I tried to ge this australian winger from Aston Vlla and they wanted a work permit, African player who played two season in france, work permit, Uruguayan starlet who played three years in spain and a regular NT player, work permit.....Paraguayan up and comer a regular starter in the NT also turned down....
WHAT THE HELL!! its really ruinning the game for me, because I want to play Bristol and I love the history behind the english clubs....I already spent a season there and was very successful...I might have to quit playing English football altogether
champdave 12-02-2008, 05:49:PM Well all non-EU players need a work permit as it's UK home office legislation.
If the player is a proven talent, and has played X% of the international matches in the last 2 years (I think it's 75%?) then you won't have any problems getting work permits for them.
If you can't be bothered then just buy European players :p
Or don't play EPL like I do.
Nimreitz 12-02-2008, 09:55:PM Don't play in England, or buy EU players. There are plenty of talented players on the cheap in the newer EU nations in Eastern Europe, so stop scouting Uruguay and start looking at Poland and Serbia.
KingPaulV 12-02-2008, 10:04:PM i've come to the conclusion I am getting out of england, back to spain it is....eh, i thought it would work but clearly the work permit thing is absolutely ridiculous...
Spain rocks, like it or not (H)
to bad we cant illegally immigrate some people
Filipower 13-02-2008, 12:15:AM Spain rocks, like it or not (H)
meh, i like to be able to give my more unused players numbers above 25 :(
but other than that, viva l'España (H)
KingPaulV 13-02-2008, 04:02:AM Yes, Viva España......I re-started with Xerez nice little team in Second division....I am pretty addicted to this game all of the sudden, I think I was playing with the big teams for far too long, there is a mistique to playing with the smaller teams and seeing them come thru the ranks....for example this Xerez team, they have never played in 1D...I want to be the agent of change...hehe...
anyway, Screw the EPL, as far as the game is concerned it sucks
Filipower 13-02-2008, 03:06:PM nah the epl is fine too, man, just not for your style of managing apparently..which is fine, i like to hunt down south-american youngsters too, but..
