Personally, I think that you guys are a little too harsh with EA. Seriously, this game has some little things that aren't perfect, but in the big picture this is still the best one yet. With a little practice you can learn to control the pace of the game, and not notice the so called "scripted style" that the computer uses. I don't understand how you people say that there is a scripted passing game or whatever. I love this game, and don't see many of the things that you bitch about all of the time. I bet I have played it a lot more often than most of you too. The only problem that bugs me is unfixable-let me know how if you find a fix for it. There is too much scoring and too much tackling. Without the tackling, the scoring would be humongous. But even with all the tackling there is, there is too much scoring.
My ranking of the last 4 FIFAs is as follows.
2001
rtwc98
2000
1999

2) FIFA 2001
3) FIFA 2000
4) FIFA 99
5) FIFA 96
6) FIFA 97
7) FIFA 95

But I enjoyed playing both '96 and '97 more than I did both '99 and 2000 when they were new...

The gap between games 2) and 3) is humongous...

I have FIFA 99 and FIFA 2001 in the FIFA series.

1) FIFA 2001

2) FIFA 99

But i think that EURO 2000 is moore fun. But FIFA international to Snes is even moore fun than EURO 2000. And what about Nintendo World Cup to Nes ? There you can talk about bicycle kicks ! The balls takes fire in the air or goes up and down ! Maybe EA SPORTS should introduce that in the next FIFA game ? =) lol. Anyway the best soccer game ever made in my opinion is....SOCCER to Nes ! Nothing beats it...and i mean it (no joke) If you own the cartridge you can download it from www.tobbeo.com (http://www.tobbeo.com) or i can send it to you. But you will also need an emulator to run the game in, download NESten from http://tnse.zophar.net/

FIFA 99 is still the best one. I don't understand how you say that FIFA 2000 has great graphics when you can't even make kits that look as good as the ones in 99, and the players look like melted plastic.

FIFA 2001 is just an extension of 2000.

The ultimate football game will have real players in it that don't look computer generated.

you gotta understand that there wont be a game in which the guy standing behind you will think youre watching tv. not for a long long time anyway. the faces arent that bad, when you look at games of the past. in some games they make the faces blury, or never zoom in and show them. or they can take a picture of all 100,000 players they have in the game and stick them on the necks of the corresponding player.

Fifa 99 exuded a quality that was lacking in Fifa 2000.Fifa 2000 had less of everything in comparison.
1.Fifa 2001
2.Fifa 99
forget the rest, especially the epilepsy inducing Euro 2000

OK, I ADMIT, I may complain a lot of FIFA, but thats bcuz I really do not Enjoy it.

I played FIFA99, 2000 and 2001, and I feel FIFA99 was the best.

But before u accused some of us of bitching too much, go play ISS EVO PRO or WINNING ELEVEN 2000, and U will understand why we bitch too much.

Secondly, EA Sports never listen nor reply to our grouses. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/mad.gif

O.K. I'll qualify that by saying I never had Fifa 98. I did have World Cup 98 though. How do you talk out of your arse? P.S. It's noted that you left RTWC out of your OWN post so where does that leave you?

I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping EA on their toes. Afterall, we pay their bills! Our cash gives us the right to have a say, and our say should be important to EA if they have got any sense at all.
On the other hand, those persons who post messages slagging the FIFA series saying ISS Pro is better and don't say anything to back it up might as well shut up unless they can qualify what they say. The article linked and referred to in the post "FIFA 2001 is bad" is very good and should be read by anyone interested in footy sims no matter which sim they play. It touches on many important issues.
On a personal level, I played an important match an hour ago where we managed to get an equaliser because the opposition's goalkeeper threw the ball to his centre half and my player managed to receive it and take a shot at an open goal now the keeper was off his line. You MUST have had this happen to you as it occurs every so many games.
Don't you think this spoils the game? What are you supposed to do, throw the ball back?!
If EA wish to continue recieving our dosh this is not acceptable!
I appreciate that there is a wishlist but this should not be the ONLY place to express ourselves! This is the FIFA 2001 forum where we can talk about FIFA 2001, and as it is a footy sim it is defined by comparison to other sims.
I agree FIFA 2001 is an extension of FIFA 2000 but it is also an improvement.. it would be difficult not to be!
At the moment I really cannot decide if FIFA 2001 is better than FIFA RTWC 98. I agree that 98 had some great features and the gameplay was maybe better than most FIFA's but it still seems early days for 2001. In fact, I think they are close in spirit.
I never played FIFA 99 because the second-hand disc I bought was faulty so I just got to see the intro's and hear the music but from that I can tell it was faaaaaaaaar cooler than FIFA 2000.
FIFA 97 was funny cos some of the development team were featured as players: Nick Wylodka (how do you spell that?) and Macmillan. I think they could be found in Miami (or some team) in the MLS.. They were made to be some of the fastest players and best shots in the whole game!!
Out of the games I've played I'd rank them -

RTWC98 / 2001 (for the mo)
97
99 (cos anything's better than 2k LOL)
2000

If you bothered to read all that, THANX - soz it so long http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

are u talking to me?
ok, i do not have RTWC98, thats bcuz, i was not into soccer yet. BUT right here, let me assume that RTWC is the best, but look at the FIFA2k and 2001. So what? the standard of enjoyment has lowered from what i had read in this forum a year ago.

will EA SPORTS ever produce the same kind of entertainment? I dunno, but i can assure u that i will DEFINITELY support it if the gameplay is improved. Meanwhile, where will all the FIFA crap games leave me??? dying of boredom???

Mine goes like this:

FIFA 2001
RTWC 98' (If it weren't for 2001's graphics, 98' would rule all!)
FIFA 2000
FIFA 1999

FIFA ROCKS!!!

On the other hand, those persons who post messages slagging the FIFA series saying ISS Pro is better and don't say anything to back it up might as well shut up unless they can qualify what they say...

why ISS is better? because I had played it and i made a comparison;

1. I can pass the ball to the direction i want, unlike FIFA where u have "designated" players to pass to.

1. Realistic speed and bigger pitch.

2. DIFFERENT heights among the players, EA sports talk about being gameplay being realistics and yet they cannot do simple things...

3. I can score from freekicks in ISS

4. 1-2 passing in ISS

5. LOB ball over the defenders

6. In FIFA, the ball is always glue to your feet even when u RUN with it... is this realistic? (some ppl enjoy a fantasy world though, hehehe)

7. THE thing I hate most about FIFA is the blatant fouls made on me all too often and that the referee says no foul!!!
(This happens too in ISS, but very much less frequently, there will be a Yellow card if u tackle and bring down the player WITHOUT touching the ball)

WHERE is the FAIR-PLAY as claimed??? the kind of behaviour the PC shows, makes me want to retaliate by "HARD-TACKLING" back to their players. (press High tackle NOT the low one)

PS: AM I the only one who is angry with this??

I have a last thing to say, please guys, go and play ISS. After all of us had played both FIFA and ISS, only then can we have a constructive debate about this. agree?

Hey AND NOT JUST ANY ISS, NOT CRAPPY ISS 2000, the best ISS is ISS Pro Evolution. Read this;

the game I enjoyed the most was FIFA 94... I played it about 2 years in a row, then found FIFA 96 and FIFA 97's.. The 96 version was supposingly ok, but I cannot remember it now... FIFA 97 was not perfect, but the indoor mode was fun... here's rating of the best games:

FIFA 2001 -- did not play it, but since everybody puts them here, why not?
Euro'00 -- nice improvemenets from FIFA 2000
FIFA 98 -- still great
FIFA 99 -- I did not like it much, although it was very popular. I even enjoyed the '00 version more.
WC 98 -- no difference from FIFA 98.
FIFA 2000 -- what a terrible game, but I enjoyed it.

Here's a list of the most enjoying gamesI played at the time.

FIFA 94 -- was a revolution at the time. nothing else. Was something new..
FIFA 98 -- second revolution. EA Sports's the most popular game ever AT THE TIME.
FIFA 99 -- not a lot of imrpovements, excluding graphics from FIFA 98
Euro 2000 -- looked solid
FIFA 2000 -- the game is enjoyable allright. But terrible. Two different things.
FIFA 97 -- still looks like **** to many. But not to me.
FIFA 96 -- was ok game, too bad I do not remember it well. Only thing -- was to hard.

And I did not play WC'98 and FIFA 2001

Something that bothers me quite a bit is when people go around saying that FIFA 99-2001 is the best EA soccer game when they haven't even tried games produced before FIFA99.
In my opinion FIFA RTWC is the best game since I have tried all EA:s FIFA-games since they started the series.
When it comes to ISS, since it isn't available for PC, I have never really tried it and therefor I keep my mouth shut when it comes to those games.

But at the moment, FIFA RTWC 98 is still the best soccer game on PC.

HEY, i am sorry if i bothered u, and from what i had read in this forum for all this time, I can gather that a lot of ppl like RTWC more than any other game from the same FIFA series. SO I believe that RTWC is damn good, especially for u and its not hard 2 imagine that after 2 years and u are still publicizing this game. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
I will really love to try this game if i ever get the chance, but i dun tink i can find this game anymore.

I Reckon the following for me :-

FIFA99
WC98
FIFA2001
FIFA2000

Without a doubt FIFA 99 was and is still the best. Look at the support generated for it on the web. BTW (EA) changed the design team / some of the original designers of FIFA99 left to go on to better things. So we were left with what was left - not good but not bad either mediocre <shrugs shoulders>

My ranking is simple:

FIFA 98 : Simply the best EA has ever been able to make

FIFA 99 : Nice Graphics, and the kit's fans made looked awsome. Bit to fast thou.

World Cup 98 : Exacly the same as FIFA 98, only with nicer kits and fewer teams.

FIFA 01 : Okay I guess... still doesn't convinse me

FIFA 97 : Bad... nuf said

FIFA 00 : There are no words to explain how much this game sucked...

FIFA 95 and 96 I left out because it's been to long since I last played them and have forgoten about them.
