Does anyone have further information about compatibilities issues with Windows 2000 ?
I've read that EASPORT won't support Windows 2000 for Fifa 2001, but it doesn't mean that it won't work with, it just means that they won't garanty that it works as good as if it was installed on a 98 system.
Maybe some people having a recent beta could give us information about that problem ?
I would be very angry if it doesn't work with win2000
Guess what man with EA saying its not compatible that means exactly what it says that it will not work under Win2k and yes I am pissed off myself about that aswell, very pissed off as Win2k is all I use, I now have to go to the hassle to set up WinMe or 98 on my other drive **** man what a joke. EA is a great company who make some great game but **** man they sometimes they fail with the smaller things, the things that can make a game so much better.
It's not EA's fault nor is it MIcrosoft's fault that Fifa 2001 does not work on Windows 2000, if you had some more kowledge of compuetrs and software in general you would understand why it does not work
I understand but im just curious why games like NHL 2001 and Euro 2000 work under Win2k but Fifa 2001 will not, true I dont know nothing about how compatibilty and software works when developing games but you expect a company like EA to be able to do it if most the others can. And dont forget NT is the future so they better learn how to do it soon.

SCTW, you are talking a load of b0ll0cks! Of course it is EA's fault that Fifa 2001 won't work on W2k. They program it!
As for the comment about more knowledge of computers and software in general, it looks like you need to follow your own advice! The reason Fifa 2001 won't work on W2k is because of the copy-right protection system EA uses. The game itself will work because it supports DirectX which amazingly enough comes with W2K.
However, all hope is not lost. If you go to gamecopyworld.com after FIFA is released I'm sure someone will post a no-cd crack on the site which should solve the problem. You can also go to ntcompatible.com to see if anyone has got it working with their system. This site lists all games and hardware that people have tested with with NT and W2k for compatibility.
I would also like to point out that SIP is right in his comments. Ea had better get pull their finger out and correct that problem because the next MS consumer os, which comes out next year, is Whistler. This is based on the NT kernal (just like W2K) and not the Win9x kernal which is finally going to be put out to pasture thank god!!!

Well...to all win2k users...Is a good choice if you were to opt. for a dual boot in your PC....where WIN2K and Win98...then it is a perfect move

Well if Fifa2001 doesnt work under win2000 it will be bad coz it's great. Anyways if EA can do something or release a patch that will check for the serial no and make users regisster online and dl the patch it would be great.

EA is 100% responsible of the win2k compatibility. If their copy protection makes it not working, then, they must change it or remove it.
Microsoft provides DirectX7 for Win2000, that's why ALL GAMES SHOULD WORK FOR IT. But beside the graphical aspect and the game itself, there are some minors routines working with the system (I/O access) that could make the game incompatible. If EASPORTS doesn't want to correct those simple routines (usually less than 50 c++ lines), that's because they are lazy or their programmers are simply too bad.
That's the problem with the last release from EASPORT : NHL2001. The save routine was not working on w2k. Their support is totally unable to make a patch. 2 days after the release of the game, some pirates released a 100% fix for Win2k. It is shame for EA coders.
