Not only did AEK advance to the 4th rounf but, RANGERS IS NOW LOSING 6-1 on AGGREGATE to Kaiserslautern!!!

Our *5th* best team in Greece IRAKLIS beat them 3-2 in Germany, and lost 3-1 in Greece.

Incredible? No.Amazing? No.Unbelievable?Maybe for some but... not for me.

The truth is that AEK ATHENS has a great quality of players.But THIS and ONLY THIS can't create a good team in the current state of european football. It requires many combined attributes but the most important of them all is the ability to play according to the team's skill in every single game.

And allow me to ask a question.In how awful a condition could Levercusen be while being in the second place of Bundesliga(if this is the way it is spelled correctly) for AEK to get a 4-4 draw and 2-0 victory? I can guess the answer on everybody's tongue.

Does that make AEK better than Levercusen?Does that make AEK a great European Club?
Does that mean that Greek are better than German?For GOD's sake NO.

But what it does is show PERSPECTIVE and ABILITY.AEK is not the only example.What about Panathinaikos? The club plays extremely well in defence but not that good in offence.The lack is obvious:A great striker.Doesn't one already exist?Yes but he can't manipulate the current system of the team.I know that i say things in a very simplyfied way but i'm just a fan stating an opinion nothing more ,possibly less.My point is that Greek teams don't have a long way ahead in being fearsome european clubs but the point is not buying really great (and expensive) but changing or evolving soccer philosophy.

Chris -- by saying that it is unbelievable, you put AEK down... Like that it was unexpected.. Of course I did not expect neither, but I do not consider it a sensation... these clubs are about the same level. not quality -- level.. AEK is not exactly an inferior team, and Bayer is not exactly a superpower club this year...

It was just after the game when I posted this. I was happy. Thats why I was saying things like "unbeliveable" ect...

Ofcourse I belived AEK could take them. But to outsiders like English Germans etc. They did not.

Anyway I am just proud of them right now!
