I'm a 25 year old, die-hard soccer-gaming fan. I've played all the fifa series and I have to admit that Fifa 2001 is the best by far. I am really happy with the vast improvements they have made over Fifa 2000, including larger fields and adding the shot meter. However, I am still disappointed with the game-play because it is FAR too unrealistic. For instance, even with World Class level, I can make it to the European Championship finals with the weakest team, Hervog. You've probably never heard of that team before, neither have I (in fact I think I mispelled their name)- the point is, I made it to the final, barely having lost to Barcelona in extra time. Why is the game so easy? Because all I have to do is jump over the opponents until I'm close to the net and then score. After playing the game for half an hour I feel like I am playing FROGER rather than soccer. When would the folks at EA Sports listen to the consumers and change those unrealistic plays like: Flick-over, 360 degree spin and worst of all, JUMPING over opponents!
I am upset, yes, but that is because I would like EA sports to make the BEST soccer game out there. Why can't they quit with the old format and change these few minor details? It's not too difficult to do! Just cut out the jumping and spinning around opponents, it's making the game ridiculously easy and stupid. Electronic Arts has a great game on their hands. The graphics are amazing, most of the game is great, but these few problems are ruining it for those of us that appreciate the best that video games has to offer.
