View Full Version : A question for 3DSMAX and OEdit
allsnow 13-09-2008, 05:16:AM :DHello! I just found some of u are using 3dsmax for editing 09 faces, yeah I have no problems on converting o.file into 3ds, but is there anyone knows how to convert it back? I mean is it possible to get a face properly worked which is done by 3dsmax or other softwares such as MilkShape3D you know...
09 faces seems really fantastic and convincing to me, I just cant wait for a new edit tool to come out. Thus I've got some useful ideas on improving the oedit tool if it has a new version to go. PLZ let's have a UV zooming function and better with a shortcut like Ctrl+add/sub for zooming in/out. And I think it will become a much powerful tool if that enables us to show only one point while hide the others when working with UV, then we can get a clearer look and position of each point. Also I strongly suggest model zooming could be faster like that in 3ds, cuz the polygons of the new face is two times more than the old one and it fairly cost a lot time when I do that with current oedit. And finally, the most important thing is...is the author still alive? u could have noticed that the latest version of oedit was published in 2004...:$

You say that you can import 09 models to 3dmax? How?
allsnow 13-09-2008, 10:11:AM well, it's quite simple.
First of all,you need to have MilkShape3D installed on ur computer. Open o.file with oedit, export as ".txt" file and open this with MilkShape3D, export as ".3ds" file and then u got it.
Maidenfan(FIN) 13-09-2008, 10:15:AM yeah, if some fixes to Oedit would be made it would be nice..so is this 3dsmax good programm to make faces?

Maidenfan(FIN) 13-09-2008, 11:23:AM ok, tell u sthen Vali ;)
allsnow 13-09-2008, 12:03:PM Great!
Actually 3dsmax is not that hard as u thought, but what matters is the process of converting files is really annoying, however hope u success, Vali :)

As far as I know, EA uses Maya not 3D MAX.
Maidenfan(FIN) 13-09-2008, 01:12:PM how do you know? any more info about this " Maya " ?

I read it some where 2 years ago (when EA started to develop NG games).
Maya is the best ever 3D design program, may be it is not widely known by people, but for graphics designers Maya is the first and best choice.
just search your google and you will know what this Maya is. :D

That's not correct man they use Maya for the games like " the Sims" ( by this games they made a complied world) and for fifa they use a 3dsmax version to build the stadiums faces and co after the building they convert the files to a o data and done now they have a file ingame ( fifa 09 or fifa08)

oke, and you know how to input ofiles into 3dsmax, and how to convert them back?
would be nice if you could help us :)
Maidenfan(FIN) 13-09-2008, 02:34:PM yeah, that would be nice, though Vali said that it (3ds max) sucked.. :D

I say it so 3ds-Max is not a Tool for 3d nobs because it very complex and you can made so many with them but if you can it is it not hard and you became a good feeling and can made HQ 3d models.
Maidenfan(FIN) 13-09-2008, 02:42:PM yeah. but, you got any info for chelseaboy's question?
allsnow 13-09-2008, 02:52:PM I wrote in my earlier post about how to import o.files into 3DSMAX, and it certainly worked. But convert them back? As far as I know, NO WAY!!!!!!

is there also a german version? or only a english one?
and after converting, its hard to work with 3dsmax?

you dont need other programm, but its possible, because EA also work with it ;)
but maybe we are not the "freaks" like EA and Sido are ;)
Maidenfan(FIN) 13-09-2008, 03:02:PM hahha, Sido is proo :D
allsnow 13-09-2008, 03:04:PM is there also a german version? or only a english one?

It's not hard. Just the same thing like what we do in oedit, but u need time to adjust yourself to the whole new interface and controls.
If anyone proves we could edit with 3DSMAX, I would be glad to use that rather than oedit, cuz u can zoom models much faster.
Maidenfan(FIN) 13-09-2008, 03:10:PM zoom models faster? thats why you would use it? xD
allsnow 13-09-2008, 03:20:PM Lets say EA is stupid... They got good sales of FIFA series for what? They thought their product are superior than KONAMI's even this year but they are totally wrong!!! The real pleasure of FIFA game is PATCHES!!! Why not provide us with an official head editor which I think will keep their STUPID sales over next a hundred million years!!!!!!

Man I dont know what is it like on your computer, but mine is super slow when I'm zooming in a head by oedit, u know it's time consuming when I'm going to enlarge the model and try to find a tiny single point. What I do is press down CTRL+W and close my eyes and take a snap and when I wake up from my dreaming of a new tool I get that point.

Well we can make patches, and patches, but the gameplay will be in next 12 months ****!
so for what should i sit hours and hours anylonger in front of my pc, and create faces?
after i create them, oke they look good ingame, but the game sucks ...
no fun to play!

FIFA09 has something quite different though... At least we have the opportunity to create nextgen faces which provides more details, and yes it can last for a number of years until nextnextgen.
farmboy 13-09-2008, 05:36:PM just so those not familiar with it know, 3ds MAX is a professional modeling program. It'll run you somewhere in the neighborhood of $3000.00. So, unless you already own it for other reasons, you're kinda S.O.L. (they do have a 30 day trial, but i think most would want it longer then a month)
