I think, that Houllier said, that, because he wanted to feel Ferguson more comfortable to win a cup. And then surprise him!

It's not the first time Houllier has called a bluff publicly - this time last year he "wrote" off Liverpool's chances of winning some silverware, and that his team had a few years to go before they could have strength to take on the likes of United. All he was hoping for was to get his team into next season's CL...

While he was right about the league, Liverpool ended up taking a cup treble and qualified for the CL (albeit a two-leg qualifier for a place in the first round). By saying United would take the league again, he is obviously not meaning it, as United would be very surprised that a Liverpool manager is flattering them - therefore they might take the opinion that none of the other teams are bothering and so think the season would be one of more ease.

This latest comment could have easily been taken the wrong way (especially by United hating Scouse zealots), but I'd bet my last quid that his team would be fired up for when the two sides meet in the Charity Shield. United would still be thinking that their adversaries have conceded defeat to their stranglehold on English football, but this is a "been there done that" remark and we're likely to see more of the same again.

Houllier, isn't far off with his prediction for the new season, Man Utd's current lineup appears to be almost watertight, and who in the Premier League can match them over the full campaign .. Ned

United is the strongest team said Houllier when he was in Holland for the Amsterdam tournament.

'Quote'
According to Liverpool-manager Gerard Houllier it's allready decided who's going to be the champion next season.

Manchester United will become champions again (as usual) according to the French manager.
"Manchester will win the title that's for sure and realistic, I'm not a dreamer and I know what our level is in the EPL and United is simply better" said Houllier.'Unquote'

What do you guys think, maybe a tactic move to play the underdog or is he not kidding.
The English guys here must know the answer to that question and especially the Liverpoolfans. Is he serious or not?

He's right of course so if he's serious he knows what he's talking about :D
