Outsider 87 15-11-2008, 12:48:PM Hi Rinaldo, good tool. A request: could you add a filter for players in commentary that are not assigned to any db player? There are a lot of ids with blank assignation and if you insert the filter it would be easier to listen to them to understand which player the commentator calls!

Please try if sx program works for you: open a DOS window, go to the folder where SM09 is installed, copy here a .asf file got from the FIFA 09 audio folder and give this command:
sx -wave <asfName> -= <wavName>
for example:
sx -wave Argentin.asf -= Argentin.wav
if it creates a .wav file then the problem is in SM09 and I can try to fix it.
Otherwise the problem is in sx itself and I cannot solve it.
arayas 15-11-2008, 03:35:PM I imported some players name, some chants and replace two songs and everything goes fine exept the exit from the game. After I push to button "yes" on "you are sure to exit to windows" the game freezes. Not a error message but not an exit. Just freeze to that screen. The PC is working is not iced.

When you type the Exit menu you are not asked if you want to exit, but you are asked if you want to save your current work. Pressing yes you save the work. Maybe SM09 was just saving ?

I can open FIFA 09 commentary using SM08, so I don't know what the problem could be.

well it's sx.exe. It's about the net.framework versions. If somebody have same problem, installing all versions of netframework solves it. If not they should install windows debugger tools from microsoft.com. Well thanks anyway.

No, you dont understand. When I close THE GAME is acting like that, not the SM09.

Figure it out already. As for CHANTS mode, turns out easy. Thanks man. For commentaries, it took me almost an hour to understand the help and sacrifice my FIFA audio. :innocent_smile_1:, but then I understand what it means. I'm non English speaker so it took me a while.
For new user, I can give you some hints, in commentary. WE CANNOT, cannot add speech or samples like in CHANTS. The only way to add speech or sound samples is by cloning any existing speech into
Step 1 - Select players that don't have sample yet - use SELECT COMBOBOX on the left. Use Filter to filter Players, Team/country (your choice) on the RIGHT combobox. Then the middle box will be updated with all list available if any.
Step 2 - Click the sample that you want to use to select. On the top menu, select Commentary, and select Clone Target Speech.
Step 3 - Now SM09 have created a Speech for the players shown in Target. You will know it's the one based on it's ID. pnXXXXX. Now you can edit you samples and record your own voice.
That's all. I thought that would be hard, till I try it.

i had a similar problem when beta one CM09 was released. im using vista 32 home premium.
Outsider 87 17-11-2008, 08:34:AM Rinaldo, I have some problems with hidden commentary players callnames. I hear some of them, but not some other. I tried also to make the conversion because maybe their hdr were not changed by EA in 09 format, but nothing... I will send you the files via mail...

No, I was just trying to check whether any files from WC2006 could be used for my patch. Essentially, that came up when i had imported the clean hdr_eng.big and dat_eng.big from WC2006. It works when I have the default 09 commentary.

Header format is different in FIFA 09, there is not compatibility. You need to extract the file .hdr and convert them. There is a function in the tools menu.

Okay thank you. Do we need to follow certain rule? I did check the commentary. I notice in audacity, for pnXXXXX, it's mono where as for chants anthem, it's stereo. Will it affect the game if we use all of our sound patch in stereo and certain Hz? Just to know.
BTW. I have a problem with my XP now. It seems it will always freeze. I'm not sure if it's SM09 related problem. I just wonder if anybody else have similar problem ever since using SM09 to create the soundpatch.
If not, then maybe I have to reinstall XP to solve the problem.

PS: There are 2,795 headers for the "pn" player namecalls in WC 2006. I just want to be able to compare with my players IDs in the database to see which ones from certain teams that I can use rather than having to import them all.

yes the game is still working perfectly. just a bit annoying without the commentry. Any ideas on how to fix this?

If you are in a hurry, why don't you do'it yourself? Show some RESPECT for Rinaldo, without his FREE tools, the FIFA is zero! When you choose the use a 64bit software, you are aware of the other software limitations, so, keep your problems for you. And wait like any others!

Do you know a free C# compiler for 64bit platform ? Express editions from Microsoft do not allow to compile for 64 bit, this is the reason why I cannot produce them. I need to buy a compiler to make this build so if you know a free one let me know.

dwr1983 19-11-2008, 06:25:PM i dont think it has been deleted because i can still hear the sounds when listening to them in SM. it is not letting me save the commentry whilst trying to exit. when playing the game there are some players mentioned but when a match begins i hear "McGeady is trying to beat them all here" twice then nothing. could you upload the original unedited comentry and il try using that

I fixed it :D Jusr rightclick and take complabliy, windows xp sp2 and it works under vista 64bit sp1 (Y)

Did you try if sx works ? Do the following open a DOS window, go to the folder where SM09 is installed, copy here a .asf file got from the FIFA 09 audio folder and give this command:
sx -wave <asfName> -= <wavName>
for example:
sx -wave Argentin.asf -= Argentin.wav
If it doesn't work, try to play with the compatibility options (select sx.exe from windows explorer and with the right button open the properties dialog, ther yo find the compatibility tab)

Dont understand how to import the smp files? can only choose, wav, mp3 and so on.... maybe it's still a bug... but got it to run.
1) Rightclick on the SM09 (latest beta)
2) Choose compatibility
3a) Run this program in compatibility mode!
3b) Choose Windows XP SP2
4) Try to start it, worked for me..... :innocent_smile_1:

EA Sports moved them out. Anthems are played only if the team is in the "international" league.

I have created player pnXXXXX commentary for specific player in my national team. So far so good. But yesterday (or last night) when I play international, Malaysia (my patch) vs other original FIFA09 team my game crash.
Let me explain further. I player NIreland vs Malaysia. I play as usual and no problem. The player name were called as intended. However when I play one specific player (Hardi) and pass the ball just on the penalty box to another specific player (Hairudin), then it crash. It only happen between those two. FYI, I created Hairudin audio by cloning an original player with 2 samples. I plan to use two samples for this Hairudin guy. Hardi on the other hand, only 1 sample.
I already make changes for hairudin. I remove samples/speech, then recreate Hairudin patch using TEVES samples (2 samples also). This time around no crash but it silence (meaning Hairudin samples were not heard). Other player still okay as needed but the weird part is I also 'as if disable COMMENTARY all together. I can only heard all the commentary again if I pause the game and resume. But every time i pass to the player, the game will 'silence' except the chants still heard.
So my question is, is the user-created patch limited to 1 samples only? And is there a length of audio,i.e 15 sec, limit and if we want to create players commentary by cloning players pnXXXX with more than 1 samples, do we need to consider their length of audio too.
That's all about SM09 as for now. BTW, Rinaldo sorry, I forget to create SM09 patch for the problem audio before giving this report. but as for the latest changes I can give it to you if you want to check it out.

No, you can create more then one sample and, to my knowledge, duration is not a problem. Often the "silence" is due to an incorrect sample (e.g. recorded at the wrong frequency)

1) Please post a link to the patches that you are using or I cannot reproduce the problem. Btw. the message is a patch problem recognized by SM09.
2) Hidden speech cannot be automatically recognized because you have to hear the sound in order to kno what hit says.
3) This is already possible using the "clone" or the "assign to target" functions.

Thanks for the clarification. What kind of setting in audacity is more appropriate for recording? Any idea? I can see in Audacity 32-bit something... Is it really needed?

smp files are managed automatically by SM09 because the patch description includes the SM version used to create it. The problem arises if you import .hdr file directly using the Import Speech option. In this case you must convert them manually because there is no way to distinguish an old file from a new one.

Also commentary can be imported from old versions but you need to convert the .hdr before, at the moment you can fo it for just one file at a time so it is not very quick.

1. There's no limit (as far as I know). Missed commentary is typically due to an incorrect sampling rate of the sounds.
2. you need to edit the .ini files in the audio .big for your language but I don't remember the string.

This time I add 1 chants for Selangor team also. Add the wave file (stereo/24000hz), add new reference and do as usual.
Save and close (and save again). I go back to commentary. Weird, all commentary are gone.
I only have 5 chants. The fifth addition create the problem.

Both name length comply to you suggestion. However as for the sound, I did at first create an audio with 40 second long for SELGR0801, but already cut it to reduce below 30 second after comparing with other original team chants in game. I think it has to do with naming or adding more name. Hope the problem explain above helps debugging SM09. Great software. Already have my national team have the commentary added. Excellent.

I don't really know if this is a solution or what because I did multiple attempt.
1. I've change both selangor chant files to SLGR001 and SLGR002 to make it shorter.
2. I clone the first selangor reference, and change it for SLGR002.
it works. Prior to this I did new reference twice, for each chants.
So, the problem reported above are now solved. Thank you for your patient.

It does have that feature but only for a very small number of hdr files at any one time. (I think about 3). So that helps, but obviously not a great deal. :(

I have the following terrible big problem:
I was so enthusiastic to find the sound master and the 2. Bundesligasoundpatch that i have not read the introduction for your tool carefully enough.
I have added the patch with your tool and have saved TWO times.
Since this point it is not possible to use fifa 09. The game crashes when I load a game. I have unistalled fifa 09 and delated all remaining files. Than I installed fifa again but the problem is stay alive.
Do you have any idea how I can solve the problem?

Rinaldo 19-12-2008, 10:11:AM Maybe you need to remove also the FIFA 09 folder below Documents folder.
For the future you do not need to reinstall FIFA but you just have to make a backup of your data folder and replace the corrupted file. For SM08 normally it is the audio.big file that is responsible for crash.
Save using the save menu, do not save while exiting or closing. It has been reported a bug in this situation (though I never saw it myself) I think I will simply remove this option in the next version.

torcamaniac 27-12-2008, 12:29:PM I've recently started having same problem as few guys here. The one with sx.exe. So I tried everything, even reinstalled my windows. The bad and stupid, after I reinstalled the windows I've reinstalled all and I mean all versions of net framework and I suppose one of those newer ones is the problem. So theres like basic ones 1.1,2.0,3.0,3.5 and additionaly some new service packs for all of those(STUPID MICROSOFT). The problem is you cant remove all of those through add/Remove so I found this little tool http://files.filefront.com/dotnetfx+cleanup+toolzip/;12783400;/fileinfo.html and removed all versions of framework. Than I installed only the basic ones 1.1 ,2.0 and 3.0. Important no others and no service packs for those. I hope it helps!!!

Sound Master 08 with which I made all my chants for fifa 09 till now has the worst problem and dowsnt recognize wavs and gives errors. The SM09 works at least when I press edit chant button with audacity but when importing new wav still gives the same error. Damn Microsoft. I've been doing patches since fifa 07 and till about ten days ago never had problems wiyh any of these great tools. I'm stiil sure it's something to do with windows update, some stupid hotfix or like I said some framework update which maybe corupts some windows runtime files needed for Fifamater tools to run properly. So people be carefull with automatic updates. I hope Rinaldo could look into it. Just dont think its a virus or spyware problem it is not. Like I said I reinstalled windows, ran Adaware, spybot, virus scans. Its frustrating really. Please Rinaldo, when you have some time could you look into it?

I dont think suddenly. Its just that I dont know excactly which update made problems. As I descriped on the page before I started with clean windows reinstall and so on. One of the reasons I think it must be the updates is because I never had this problem till last week, so it had to be something that installed itself over the updates.

Keep this in mind: save only one time per edit with Sound Master. Don't save in the middle of some other mods. Just wait and save only at the end. It seems that, most of the time, if you save more than one time, commentary disappears. Maybe with chants importation the problem is even worst.
About sx.exe problem I think there is no workaround :(

Nevertheless it has been reported several times that to save twice, sometimes, causes the commentary to disappear (though it never happened to me). So I recommend to save and exit, then restart the program again ... and obviously make a backup of your audio folder.
Another cause of "silent" commentary is the introduction of a sound recorded at a wrong frequency, FIFA 09 requires 22050 Hz. In this case it is enough to remove the sound and the commentary returns back.
Last point: sx.exe is an external tool and it's not part of my design. It is a DOS tool and I think that if you have problems with it you should solve it using some compatibility option (settable clicking on the file with the right button of the mouse).

SM09 is not a sound editor but you can use audacity (included in the package) to add reverb.

Here is the fixed version. The problem was the spanish C used in the name of the chants for Barca. I have replaced it with a normal C and it works. Honestly I don't know why the program crashes, it is a built in function of the .NET framework and I guess I am using it incorrectly. To avoid this problem in the future: use only plain letters, no accents no dots.

I don't really know if this is a solution or what because I did multiple attempt.
1. I've change both selangor chant files to SLGR001 and SLGR002 to make it shorter.
2. I clone the first selangor reference, and change it for SLGR002.
it works. Prior to this I did new reference twice, for each chants.
So, the problem reported above are now solved. Thank you for your patient.
I have the same problem, but I can't solve it... After the fifth chant file, the commentary disappear.

We have two chances 1) the asf is incorrect or 2) the reference created in the chants.bin is incorrect.
Try to figure out where is the problem, in separate steps, replacing the asf with another surely good or creating a new reference.

For me the away team sings too... and that was before i installed: international chants 09 :)

I experience similar problem last time. Check you audio again. Chances are one of your custome commentary may have long SILENT audio at the end of the audio. It happen to me. Listen carefully during the game, and take not, whether the 'silent mode' happen just after particular commentary and once you detect it, simply reopen in SM09 and delete the silent track. Walla, it fixed.
Just a suggestion though. Maybe it's different problem then mine.
Pextara 23-04-2009, 12:39:AM I have since deleted the name from the game that caused the problem. So since things worked well before and now the new file is gone, then any silence that may have existed in that file should be gone with it, but I will double check that, thanks skeptik.

When you enter a Id, chant type or event and you click on enter, the programm doesn't take over the changes, you have to click one up and one down, then are the changes effectively. I think it would be better If it will also work with enter. The same at the filename.
And when you add or clone a chant, it should jump in the line of the new chant.
Would be great if you could make this thnigs.

shoul be ok , but sometimes does not work commentary properly, try it out with another one and if u have a right ID number it has to work

I am a FIFA fan and now in group working progress of Chinese commentary patches for both FIFA08 & FIFA09. Now we have a little trouble that may need your help. Our previous work including sample translations from English speeches are all based on FIFA09 commentary. As you know, the speeches from 09 and 08 is different.Thus to make a 08 version, it seemingly a waste of time for us to translate those speeches again from 08 commentary.
I wonder if you could do me a favor, to do some modifications upon SM08 or SM09 in order to make it possible for us to convert the commentary speeches from 09 to 08? I believe definitely that would save tons of efforts on commentary remaking. And I'm looking forward to your reply.

I want to do the same thing, did you get it working? Did you just cut and paste Sneijder's call name and paste it into the cloned Van Nistlerooy commentary,please help. I have been editing audio for a while just not in FIFA.
