This idea includes whole match of the year '2008'.
What do you think of the most fantastic or dramatic match in 2008(or not that)?

Let's talk about this.

I think the match Turkey vs Czech Republic(UEFA EURO 2008 group A, matchday 3)is the best one.
Also Turkey vs Croatia(UEFA EURO 2008 quarter final)was also great.

Also I forgot other good matches.

UEFA Cup match Lech Poznań vs. Austria Wien. I couldn't sleep after that victory. I kept analysing the game part after part in my head through the whole night.

Czech Rep vs Turkey was indeed a very good one.
Tottenham 4-4 Chelsea was also quite entertaining.

UCL 2008 Final

Man Utd X Chelsea

I thought Man Utd can't win when Ronaldo miss penalty.
But John Terry did terrible mistake.

I said to myself
'I love you John Terry'

The best match that I saw in 2008 was probably Russia - Holland, though that Sporting - Benfica match posted above looked pretty spectacular.

The best performance by a team in 2008 would have to go to either the Spanish NT or Barcelona, but it's hard to pick a particular match for either. Both Spain wins against Russia were absolute exhibitions.... and maybe the 6-1 Barcelona win over Atletico.

I know I sound biased, but I have never seen such dominance by a NT or a club. Not with such style anyways. They've both truly been a treat to watch.

I'm sick of "how much of God is in Messi". He didn't achieve anything spectacular yet, he's not better than the greatest footballers in world's history. Every time I come to soccer forum I see comments such as "Messi_____________________________________________ god, rest of the world." And they always come from the same group of people.

This whole case makes mi sick, seriously. I open the fridge and who's there?- Messi. I'm sure that Arnau would love to give Messi a blowjob. This forum becomes crappier every day or is it just me?

Arnau

messi doesnt make a bicicle like ronaldo or a flip-flap like ronaldinho but its decisive for his team as michael jordan for bulls.

"Jesus was decisive for mankind" but I do not see people using his face as avatar or sig.

The fight between fans of Real Madrid and Barca is also sick. You guys argue about who's better, who has got more fans, better players. And the dumbest one is the guy who comes up with history and the past. The only thing that matters is the present.

This happens when someone does not have any arguments to convince "the opponent". 90% of each, Barca or Real thread is about that crap. There's no real discussion about the club or football but the rivalry of 5 olds. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You're wrong.

Lets ignore the fact that "Jesus was decisive for mankind" is a bizarre and religiously biased statement. If you went to a forum about Christianity, I bet TONS of people would have his face in their avatars/sigs. This is a soccer forum, so.... do you follow my parallel here or must I go further?

Secondly, if you think Messi hasn't achieved anything spectacular, then you have not seen him play. Nobody is saying he's the best of all time, but I bet most would agree that a healthy Messi is probably the best player in the world right now.

Tell me, what did he achieve? Was he named the best player of the world, won the golden shoe, scored the most goals at WC or CL? Scoring a goal similar to Maradona's doesn't make him legend. The same thing is with his goalscore this season. He decides about Barca's face but he has started showing his full potential this season. The Jusus thing was just an example though.

The Jesus thing was an example that had nothing to do with the topic.

What has he achieved? How about dazzling the entire football community except for you. Take a look at the goals he is scoring this season, or better yet watch his matches to see what he's been doing even when he doesn't score. He is the MVP of the highest scoring team in Europe that has set all kinds of records in Spain at the midpoint. He is easily the frontrunner for being named the best player in the world. Even Madrid fans have said so in their thread. We don't know yet if it's going to translate into any titles, but there's nothing wrong with getting excited before the season is over.

I think you misunderstand me. I wrote all this stuff to show that everybody consider Messi as a living legend. They put him above the greatest players from all the time. He can be the best player of the year but it will not make him the best ever just after one awesome season.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood your opinion then. I have not seen people touting him as one of the greatest ever. I would say that what he is doing this season is comparable to the greats, but what he does with his career is another matter. Just look at Ronaldinho.... I was foolish enough to think he would be a legend.
