Bolivia 6-1 Argentina.

That is not a joke. :|

Good lord. Nice job, Diego. Now blame the altitude.

Poor Maradona, Argentinian Players don't know how to make tricks like him

The funny part was that Maradona had recently played a match with Evo Morales in support of playing in La Paz (FIFA wanted to ban it). Good job Diego!(Y)

OH S**t!!! This arguably the most unbelievable/stunning result(in an international game) I've ever seen/heard of......

Bol-who?

no wonder, wtf was the coach doing keeping a player like Maradona in the bench for the whole game? :willis:

Live High Train Low. Altitude or not though, 6-1?

6-1, and it really could have been a lot more, I'm sure even the Argies agree with that.

Wait Wait....Who was the coach?
Maradona or Maddona?
Could obviously be the latter one.....

At first I thought it as an April Fool's joke too... so much for showing Riquelme who's boss! As an aside, Honduras beat Mexico 3-1. You should know that Mexico used to be practically invincible in CONCACAF until the US caught up to them and started scoring regular victories. There will be increased calls for the head of Sven after this...

If it wasn't for the goalie, it could have been 12-1

Is Maradona on the hot seat now, or does his status keep him safe for a little while?

What a shocking result!
And to think that Bolivia are 2nd last in Sth. America!!!

And this might just have kept their qualification chances alive.

playing at such high altitude when your not used to it can cause such outcomes. They'll bounce back

I couldn't believe when I watched it last night. Argentina players couldn't make even 2 good passes. Bolivia totally owned them.

I think he is still safe for now, as this is his first loss (albeit a huge one).

Anyways it was funny today to hear what the players had to say before taking their return flights back to Europe. You could tell that all the players were trying to say that it was very hard to play in the altitude, but they couldn't really say it since Maradona had already said that the altitude was a non-factor. Messi for example said "for me personally, it is impossible to play in the altitude" and then continued by saying "But that is not an excuse, everyone has to play there". It was just funny to hear these mixed messages since they obviously could not contradict what their "boss" had already said before the match.

I think La Paz was granted an exception as it's the national capital.

Nevermind, it's totally suspended.

Lurking in 5th spot are their old rivals - Uruguay. The last game in CONMEBOL qualifying in October - Argentina(currently 4th) vs Uruguay(currently 5th).

I don't want to imagine the possibility of a World Cup without Argentina. Maradona needs to get over the 6 goals that he described as "wounds to the heart". They would be NOTHING in comparison to the dagger of not qualifying.....

Actually, it IS an excuse!!!

As they beat Bolivia in La Paz a few years ago and a number of times before, then it's not really a valid excuse. Why were they able to beat them before, but not this time? It hasn't got any higher. If they didn't prepare well enough this time, it's their fault, nothing else.

Not only was this game played at altitude, it was also played at longitude AND latitude. Completely unfair to Argentina, who normally play in places with no coordinates whatsoever.

Filipower

The whole space/time continuum is news to the Argentines, utterly unfair stuff.

Yes. Therefore, let's pretend the 6-1 didn't happen and move on..

Still, it's Bolivia for f*ck's sake. I thought our 10-0 win over San Marino was impressive :(
