View Full Version : POWEBAR is worthless
Atiom 31-10-2000, 03:37:AM In other games the more you hold the higher the ball goes but in fifa no matter how fast you hold the ball never goes low it always goes at the same height.
Also why the hell do you have a arrow for free kicks when you can use the powerbar?
streem 31-10-2000, 03:46:AM If you want your ball low...You have to use the pass button and make sure no any of your player near U
Ronaldinho Gaucho 31-10-2000, 03:48:AM No it's not...it's a great feature....it's just that you don't know how to use it....
Atiom 31-10-2000, 04:00:AM fine so how can I shoot low? know matter how fast I hold the ball goes high, so instead of telling me that i dont know how to use could you try and teach me?
The way the powerbar works in ISS is that the more you hold the higher and stronger it goes.
sl benfica 31-10-2000, 04:47:AM To shoot low you have to use the D-pad in where you have to pull away from the net to shoot low.
ex.
To shoot low going down feild this way <---
you have to pull back this way ---> shooting at the same time.
ohhhhh boy here they go again with their iss.
Vishal 31-10-2000, 05:18:AM Well it works like this. If u press the up arrow the ball goes up same as in the down arrow key. Press the pass button to keep it low.
Atiom 31-10-2000, 05:27:AM if you still have to press awy to shot low then why implement a powerbar, thats exacty what a power bar is for.
F yes I have to talk about ISS they were the first ones to have a powerbar and even in Actua Soccer it works like that the longer you hold the higher it goes. Thats great because it would aslo work for free kicks so that you would not need the arrow system

Black_Ned 31-10-2000, 05:31:AM if you check back on the powerbars, i think that the English EA team that put out the first Premier League All Stars game was the first to implement a power bar system on the Pc......Ned
Atiom 31-10-2000, 06:10:AM the first game for the pc was actua soccer 2 95/96 , the first game that I can remenber was ISS deluxe for the SNES.
But anyway why have a arrow system for freekicks and have to move back to shot low when you have a powerbar? thats crazy
It would be great to have a powerbar in freekicks the higher you hold the higher it goes, if it goes to low it hits the wall to high and you will miss the goal
Atiom 31-10-2000, 02:45:PM CAn anyone tell me? Why have a arrow for freekicks damnit when a proper power bar is a much better choise.
iceboy83 31-10-2000, 09:24:PM Im here to defend EA... hehe
You see, power bar is for power only, how hard the player kick the ball, pressing back is the direction, press back: kick the high part of the ball, press front: kick the lower part of the ball....those who played soccer or billard or pool would know...that's physics...or common sense.....
CASE 1-Power high, press backward direction:
Shoot low and hard, ball may deflect off keeper.
CASE 2-Power high, press forward direction:
Shoot high and hard, ball may deflect off keeper for corner.
CASE 3-Power low, press forward direction:
Shoot high but weak shot...keeper can catch it easily.
CASE 4-Power low, press backward direction:
You call that a shot...?
CASE 5-Full power:
Confirm off target, unless you are in that little box in the penalty area and the keeper couldn't get back.
EA has made their power bar different from iss becoz fifa is fifa, iss is iss. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Since we want the power bar on fifa, we play it the fifa-way.

there you guys herd iceboy83. he is 100% correct. i still can make a low shot in fifa, and i did it alot of times right inside of the 18 yard box and it was great. boy i am having fun. woooooooooooooooo wooooooooooooo.
but it needs some improvments in the game play. as i said before the midfilders need to help the forward players.
Atiom 31-10-2000, 10:21:PM Ok it works, but why have to aim foward for high and back for low, it would be easier and less akward to shoot low just by powering the powerbar less.
It just feels akward to point the direction of the keys back to shoot low.
But no one has answered why they still use the arrow for freekicks?
sabaho 31-10-2000, 10:45:PM a system tha works as:
1- a tap or very short hold: low shot
is more logical as that's what u do in real life!
2-many other things like short, long, through, high through pass SHOULD be governed by complete directioning and hold down time!
which makes possibilities endless and no 99% of goals the same!
AND DON'T TELL ME THAT'S HARD TO MAKE COZ OTHERS HAVE DONE IT!
iceboy83 01-11-2000, 03:41:AM Here's something new:
I managed to score free kicks using Roberto Carlos when the free kick is near the goal post. I made the power bar near to maximum and he blast is past the keeper, and i tot the net was going to break!
Try it!

soccerfan 01-11-2000, 05:20:AM To Atiom,
The arrow is for you to direct and aim your ball if you decide to take a direct shot at goal. This is friendlier than in ISS. In addition, try the full game first before criticising it. I have tried the full game and it just great. All your comments could be ratified in the option menu in the full game.
bryanlam 01-11-2000, 06:52:AM Soccerfan, according to your full version FIFA01, can you get score outside 20-30 yards
away from goal, with combination of D-pad, power bar and shoot button, and not by lucky?
I really wish we can.
soccerfan 01-11-2000, 08:52:AM To bryaniam,
I have tried shooting from outside the D of the penalty box. The goalkeeper saved it and I managed to score from the rebound. From my initial experience, it is possible to score from outside the penalty box if you have the opportunity.
Giovanni7 01-11-2000, 01:49:PM The power bar's meaning is to give more or less power to a shot as the name implies. Now I wont disagree that ISS has the best possible power bar but FIFA's is also cool and is a very important feature.
Mentholica 01-11-2000, 02:07:PM there, now I am tired of reading this whole topic.
Atiom 02-11-2000, 12:09:AM hehe
Ryan Giggs 02-11-2000, 12:24:AM I still think the powerbar's useless Atiom hehe
------------------
All the best,
Giggsy
Mentholica 02-11-2000, 12:26:AM The powerbar is great when you know how to use it...for those you don't know it seems that it's useless
Atiom 02-11-2000, 01:18:AM Its is useless methaholi, they didnt change the way you shoot in FIFA, shooting still done the same stupid way but now you have a "NEW FEATURE" that just shows how strong your kick is. You see its just another FEATURE so it makes FIFA2001 look like a NEW game.
A real power bar should make shooting easier and give you more controll over the height of the shot. You have to agree that holding back to shoot low is akward
ps. Please I beg just get ISS or Actua Soccer2 PC to see how a proper powerbar should work(actua is crap but the powerbar works well)
