i have learnt to play and win fifa2k on wc-level without ever using the shielding key (e on keyboard). the same is likely to be the case with fifa2k1.

are there many guys out there who have different experiences, and who are regularly using the shielding key in their game play? if so, how exactly do you make this key to work WELL in the game (as opposed to just make it work)?

I never use the shielding button, because when i "shield" (is that english?) i'm still getting tackled

In fifa 2000, i use the shielding a lot, and always work great...i do this: i run to the goal and when i see a defence runningto me ijust tap the shielding button and this make stop instead ...just enough to make the defence to tackle in front of me, but he don't touch me...i just slide in front of me....then i was free to run to score...and sometimes i do this in front the goalkeeper, so i run, i tap, and change my direction a little...and i pass beside the goalkeeper, who can't steal the ball from me.... thats what i do ...i tried in fifa 2001 but i can't make it work yet.

learn how to use this button, whenever you are in the penalty area push the shielding button and the defender will make a penalty

I use it occasionally but obviously on the harder levels you have more chance of being tackled, I use it sometimes just to give me a second or so of posession time when I need to seek a pass or let a player move into a good position.

By the way, I find that the shimmy move, ctrl key is not so good as it looks great but you get tackled more with it, but the quick tap of the Ctrl key for the flick up is much better for getting past defenders with, and looks ore realistic than the stupid 360 spin.

I never used shielding on purpose in the game. It's needless! I wish that instead of shielding EA would put a good skill move not like that crappy 360 degree spin!

Shielding can be improve, if together with E-key you use also key ctrl or alt. it is special key, but it helps to shielding.
