Shows how immature all of you are.. really does.... you have brains of kindergarteners Saying **** Finland was a big mistake you stay then in your poor country. You have a good history and a nice city in Athens but you aren't exactly a rich country like us. Finland is third richest country in the world per capita I have respect for Greece but don't say that.. If you were american it would be different.. it's like a albanian saying than their country is richer than The Netherlands!!!!! We have one of the world's best living conditions. We have bigger money generating firms than you etc. and we are the silicon valley of europe in terms of technology. Wait, why am I writting this half of you can't even say "my name is.." in english.

I am sure tourism is big in greece because of your great history... you have a greater history than us although we had the vikings in scandinavia.. The vikings conquered more
than the greeks but I find ancient greece
more interesting at it dates back further
than the vikings. There is a lot of sights
in athens but our living conditions are better here. We have no poor class middle class is the lowest we go. almost everybody in Finland can afford a BMW for example. But Athens is very dirty we have the advantage of having a clean country which is run well and runs smoothly almost all the time. Greece is a great place and I am not comparing I am pointing this out to the idiot who said **** finland. he should be shot. He just insulted greece as well... I know the greek fans are way out of hand but I don't usually pick fights and if I do get into one for any reason which is beyond my grasp I will have a lot of help for sure. I am not proud of skinheads I hate them. This is a problem in Finland and Sweden that has to be stopped. I am just saying that if anything happens they will not be happy... but I don't appreaciate that.. Oh about the weather it depends because in greece you can't ski or snowboard when here you can and it's very fun...

Your reply shows that you are just as immature as the person you were replying to. Only a fool would draw generalistic conclusions and attack a culture of millions of people, solely based on what a single extremist among them said.

>Saying **** Finland was a big mistake

Then reply and criticize the person saying it!
Starting immature arguments against all Greeks only serves to diminish your credibility in this forum.

>I have respect for Greece but don't say >that..

If you had respect for Greece you would put the person who insulted you in his place without attacking all Greeks in general ("all of you" where your exact words, no?)

>If you were american it would be >different..

A country's worthiness (or lack thereof) is not directly proportional to its wealth -- but I'm not even interested in getting into that argument.

>Wait, why am I writting this half of you >can't even say "my name is.." in english.

Half of who?
Greeks in general?
Lol!
Actually, the average young Greek has a better command of the English language than your average Scandinavian. Don't take my word for it -- take a look at Cambridge University's statistics on English language Certificate exams. Alright?

>I don't feel like talking to immature ppl >today so go to school and learn or don't >say anything cause you know what? I don't >give a monkey's!

There are ill-mannered people in Greece, in very much the same way there are ill mannered people in Finland, the United States and everywhere else in the world.
One would have to be plain stupid to make stereotypical assumptions on the basis of having met one (1!) rude Scandinavian, or, for that matter of fact, Greek.

Jari, I can say "my name is" just fine in English.

And Greece is one of the biggest tourist spots in the world. You don't think that produces money?? We have the BIGGEST Merchant fleet in the world.

In sports we got 10 medals in Sydney.

Our basketball clubs won 2 EUROPEAN TROPHYS!!! (Pana and AEK)

Our Basketabll NT is also very good.

In Football our league is 8th in Europe.

I can go on in sports...

Look I am not gonna sit here and disect Finland and Greece because it is pointless. BOTH countries have their weaknesses and strenghs.

PS What I said about the Greek Fans was not a joke or a stupid insult ok. I was being serious Jari. They get way out of hand and it's a chame. Their were 5,000 supporters in Germany...5,000. That can do damage...All i'm saying is don't start anything with them.

PS2 Oh yeah, Finland might have won the strongest man competition, but who rules the world in Weightlifting??? GREECE!

Jari Litmanen:

sometimes I laugh at your posts, sometimes I even want to cry because it is funny you don't understand something... Just because Finland is richer does not mean that it is better than Greece. Why are you bringing up the money thing? To show that you are good and great JUST BECAUSE you have a lot of money? Remember, the nazi Germany was also big and rich during the fuhrer's reign, but that absolutely did not mean that that nation is better than for example English...

in this argument you are not wrong. But you still have some thoughts that do not make sense.

"Saying **** Finland was a big mistake you stay then in your poor country. You have a good history and a nice city in Athens but you aren't exactly a rich country like us. "

what does the wealth of a country have to do here? I can say f$ck America anytime, especially some stupid freshman group in the school will walk by and drop a "nice" comment to the russian group, and it does not mean who is richer who is not. Critisize the person himeself, not the whole country even though the guy did not do likewise.

as for having a bigger company, I'd say that Gazprom is a bigger and richer company than any of the Finnish.

What does it produce? Gas for the WHOLE Europe. It is the biggest taxpayer to the country... of course in technology and automobile products Russia is not anywhere close to being concurent to western countries.. just to let you know.

Chris16

Wealth of nation per capita :

Denmark - 30718 US

unemployment:
Finland - 10.3
Denmark - 5.1

But does that mean that Denmark is a better country than Finland and Greece?

Russian Rocket,
Are you telling me that your little gas company is a bigger firm than Nokia mobile communications??? Nokia is from Finland... now you did exactly what you were up against.... that wasn't smart! Nokia is the fifth largest firm in the world and saying that a gas company that I have never heard of even compares to it makes me laugh!!!! Any smart people here would say otherwise. Linux is from Finland and Wilson tennis rackets, atomic skis, oxygen snowboards etc...
Russian Rocket, Helsinki is the technology mecca of europe. F-Secure is from Finland the virus program and we make the best gfx chips in the world. Don't lie RR....

Before Nokia became a mobile phone firm it used to make rubber boots for the soviet and finnish armies. Now it has turned into a world-leading multi-billion firm. You have the nerve to say that you have bigger firms.
Now you have lost my appreciation towards you. Going out making false comments without proof. Finland has to take care of your nuclear reactors to protect Finland cause youb are so close (Russia)... we help you and pay you money so that you can rise from your slump and you even dare to write something like this... be ashames of yourself and I'm being serious now.

You are accusing me of impersonating someone else simply because I'm a new poster?
That's ridiculous!

>I said the people who were dissing had >brains of kindergarteners not all greeks.

AND

>I have seen you greeks have also annoyed >the turks on this forum....

You should learn how to communicate properly, as all of have done here is
a) contradict yourself
and
b) sound like the ignorant moron you most certainly are.

It's the second time I visit this forum (first was about a month ago), and the second time I see "Jari Litmanen" pull the same immature stunts.
You post under a fake alias and accuse other posters of impersonating who-knows-whom.
You continuously start conversations with Greeks, and, when you are painted into a corner, you degenerate those discussions to a stupid, mindless "user -Jari Litmanen- versus the Greeks in general" flamewar.
Whenever someone uses an argument which your intellectual deficiencies do not allow you to counter, you will simply reply with an imbecilic rant about "all us Greeks", "causing trouble to Turks", or treating you as the immature brat that you are, or insulting the Beautiful Country (tm) that is Finland.
Well, since you have such complexes with regard to the Greek people, why not stop conversing with them and get on with your real world life --if you have one (which I doubt)!
Since the Greeks, according to your own prejudiced and ignorant opinion, are generally causing trouble in this forum, or are not objective (or whatever), do yourself and us a favor, and stop addressing your pointless threads (and photos of yourself, sheesh!) "to all Greeks".
We've given you far more credit than any unlearned, biggoted fool deserves.
Why on Earth do you keep annoying us --- won't anybody else in this forum talk to you?

By the way, "Jari", and since I've become quite sick of your mindless comparisons between the "wealthy" Finland and "poor" Greece or Russia...
what exactly did your country do on the Second World War?
Did it in any way fight the German Nazists?
Was it not the country that chose to go along with totalitarianism, unlike the Great European Nations who made a stand for democracy, and paid a Heavy price for it?
Greeks, Polish, Russians, and so many others... Our nations fought heroically against Nazism, and our fine countries were annexed and ravaged by the Nazis for their democratic struggle. While some other cowards did... what exactly?
And of course, the German conqueror did not rob your country's wealth, like they did to our Free country, which, when the war ended, allowed Finland to have an economic advantage in comparison to the other nations that had made the struggle against Nazism and fascism.
If all other European nations had followed the politics of your country, Hitler would have been made the Dictator of Europe, and the first to adopt German as their mother language would be the cowards who didn't dare to raise to the occasion and impugn Nazism.
So, don't start comparisons against Greece, pal, your people should be grateful to our countries and people who fought and died for the good cause, unlike yourselves.
The price for our struggle against Germans was the death of hundreds of thousands of men and women that we lost to the Nazist conqueror, and the full ravaging of our economy by the Nazist occupation, unlike some other countries who chose opportunism over ideals....
And still, we managed to recover and become one of the purveyors of the European Union only some decades after the end of the war!
And don't even get me started on Finnish policy with regard to the Soviet Union.

Whenever someone proposes recessions with regard to our neighbour's expansionism and threat of violence, the Greek people always ask for caution --- the political term we use in Greece for submissive policy is that we don't need to become "Finlandized", if you know what I mean. Ask any Greek!

So don't you go around making comparisons between our country and Finland, pal.
We may be less wealthy than Finland, but at least our political past is not a long historical tradition of yielding to tyranny.

Greece is a great country I never have made fun of it I have only made fun of Russia and I'm sorry about that but don't any of you go playing all innocent. Finland was one of the greatest countries during the war that kicked the russians out of our country when they had far more soldiers against us cause they are so big but with our military genius we won. Mostly thanks to Marshal Mannerheim who was Hitler's good friend but he fought for freedom for the people. We found an allie in Germany to defeat Russia who was our enemy. With the germans and austrians we fought them. Mannerheim is now well know especially in Switzerland were he died and he has many statues of him there and in many cities like Budapest where many finns have come from. Austrian-Hungarians moved up here and swedes and we are a combination of them.
The largest street in Helsinki is called Mannerheim Street or promenade. I don't appreciate this! We suffered a lot in the war that is why we got the Olympics the year after where my grandfather participated and my grandfathers brothers died at sea when they hit a mine. Greece is a nice plce and I have visited your nice country but I was mad at the greek who posted the rude comment towards me! We actually went against Germany and they bombed lapland when they left. This of coarse is where Santa Claus is from. heh
Info of mannerheim is at: http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/cgmanner.htm

"little" ????????????? Get some brains. It provides gas for WHOLE Europe. WHOLE. WHOLE. I never said it makes as much money as Nokia, but it is much much bigger.

AND, YOU CAN READ WHAT I POSTED THERE ABOUT TECHNOLOGY FIRMS. And I never said Russia had more firms either.

also, what I said is not lying. Lying is when you give false arguments to someone for your own profit. I just said my point of view. Anyways, Gasprom is big company you called little. ha-ha

As for my "approciation" for you, you never had mine since the time you posted those jokes about Russia and after all said I have insulted you (which I did, but apologized after) in all messages, called me a liar when you were one, and had pretty ignorant posts.

Also, you are smart enough to show how your country is better than others because it is richer, and leaving the fact that Greece and Russia fought against Germany. Of course, Russia is corrupted now and bad, but before got 20 million people killed for some nazi beliefs, and now Finland is better because richer.

who the f*ck cares anyways, you loose appreciation for someone just because he has a different view than you do. That's what nazis believed, btw.

also, to let you know, Finland was a part of Russia since the beginning of the 1800's. After Russian revolution of 1917-1922 Lenin gave Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia independence. Stalin wanted them back. he got them. And Finland was an allie of Germany, of a nazi Germany. Who cares what their goals were, they were fighting for nazi beliefs. You are proud of that?

You should come some time to Lapland it is far from where I live as Finland is a large country but it's beautiful at winter...
About the weather I sure do wish I was in Greece actually... right now we should have snow which is nice but we have just rain apparently cause of global warming! So who's coming to the finland-greece match? I am going to England to see the england-finland match I couldn't go to greece cause of tests.. =(
Has anyone read the link I posted... really?? I mean if you would read there you will see Finland was one of the greatest nations during ww2. http://www.hkkk.fi/~yrjola/war/finland_wwii.html/summary.html
oh and don't even list Finland with Estonia and Latvia. They failed in the war and that us why they are so poor and "unknown" nations... if we would of lost to Russia who knows what Finland would be like now... definately not in the list of top 5 richest in the world like now that's for sure!
Now once again I want peace and RR comments are just prevoking me to continue by attacking me with "false" statements
We are acting stupid by continuing this stupid argument. Nobody has been innocent here and we have all acted foolishly but doesn't everyone, right? So this stops here! posts after this should contain no argumentive material....

Provoking????? Did I say anything bad about you? Did I say anyting bad about YOUR country?

as for Gazprom and Nokia. I used Nokia as an example. For sure have production all over the world. But how many people in the world have cell-phones? About 50-60 percent. Ok. But how many of them have Nokia cell-phones? I am pretty sure that Nokia is a leading cell-phones transporter, but not way bigger than them all. Allright. So about 33% percent (which is a lot) of the people who own cell-phones have Nokia cell-phones. 33% out of 50% is 16%.

So 16% of the world's population SUPPOSINGLY and ROUGHLY have Nokia cell-phones.

Europe and former USSR republics alltogether have population over 1 billion. Europe has over 850, and all the rest have just enough to make it for one billion. One billion is about 1/6 or 1/5 of the world, and about 17.5 percent of the world use gas Gazprom provides.

Of course,I am not saying that "here -- Gazprom has more percent than Nokia does..etc". NO. I am pretty sure that Nokia is a richer company than Gazprom, which I DID say in one of my posts. About 50% percent of Gazprom's profits go for taxes, and recent Russian market crash of August 1998 made many companies in Russia crash.

and do you see here, that your comments are the ones that offending? I said calmly something like: "please do not consider me over-patriotic, but I think that Russian hockey league is better than Finnish"... What did you say? "it is an insult to say that your hockey league is better than Finnish.." Couldn't you say something more nice that time? Like: "Well, I think differently... etc.".

And i am the one who is provoking????????

Alot of these guys I don't think are...lol

By the way, about Weightlifting Sydney 2000:

2 gold

2 silver

1 broze for Greece.

Total 5.

China had 7, so we came in 2nd! The next closest was Bulgaria with 3...So facts are facts!

Dimas and Sabanis etc... have been dominating since Barcelona 92'!

Don't tell me Hungary, Bulgaria etc... are better ok?

Chris 16..... I AM telling you that they are better because statistics don't lie!!!

A good 8 years does not make a strong reputation!

Please do some homework before you come and tell me that Greece is a traditionally stronger weighlifting team than the above mentioned countries........

Actually, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are not heroes in the world war II or in general.

Especially the Latvians -- they never had their own separate country until 1917 when the Russian revolution broke. At that time, Lenin, soviet dictator, a brilliant student and a pretty smart guy took the power in his hands and gave Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland independence. So he was the first actual person to make Latvia a separate country. You know what they do now? They consider Lenin and Stalin enemies of their state. I mean Stalin -- ok, the guy was very rude to them. But why Lenin? Also, those guys in Latvia after the coup of 1991 and after declaring their independence again, started "anti-russification" meaning that you could not be a citizen of their country if you wouldn't speak their language. And in schools, students were taught any language but Russian. There were a lot of stories when families got kicked out from their homes for nothing.... One family, a Russian family from Riga had about 6-7 children. In 1988 they got their own appartement, appartement they owned. In 1991 they were kicked on streets by government. Also, those guys recently made a memorial to the soldiers who fought for Germans in WWII. And Hitler's birthday is still a holiday for many there... Of course they have to be careful, which they are, because they can kicked from the EU or some other country union...

as for others -- this argument started from someone telling Jari that he is ugly..... Who is right here?

Yeah thats correct RR and it's completely false anyway. Anyway what kind of guys comments on other guys appearances unless they are gay!
hmm EU what? Latvia?? ughhh
EU :
Finland
Sweden
Denmark
Netherlands
Luxembourg
France
Italy
U.K.
Austria
Ireland
Germany
Greece
Spain
Portugal
Belgium
These are in my opinion right now the biggest and most important countries in europe therefore were inducted first in the EU. Finland held last years EU presidency this yr it's Portugal I think.. =)
hmm Norway I don't think is yet in the EU but is also a big euro country in my opinion.

ummm, no, the reason you don't see countries like Russia, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Czech Rep. etc. is because of their political situations/location (i.e. Eastern European countries so they were, and in some cases still are, considered communist)......... I don't know why Norway isn't there?
....... Poland and Hungary will be in the EU within a few years, in fact they had talks about it recently.

No I didn't mean it like that but I wouldn't call Russia a country that would suit the eu. They wouldn't benefit them. Although Russia is a nice country etc and everything but these countries are all former commie countries and are in a bad state. They wouldn't benefit the eu. I have been to the czech republic it's a great place I think they should be in the eu once they get a few things fixed. Prague is a truely beautiful city in my opinion one of the nicest in europe maybe even the best. But I also love Paris, Helsinki, Stockholm, Vienna, Athens they are great cities. I like London too but cause I lived their so long 9 yrs it's hard for me to comment. I wasn't really a tourist heh it's also were I was born........
could we finish here... =)
Legia your comments haven't been very polite when taking into regard that I haven't actually said anything rude about anyone. In this thread I haven't said anything particularly rude. I know what I've posted so don't start...... you can call me whatever you want if it makes you happy but what I don't understand is why everyone points fingers at me... check the start of this point then decide if I acted rationally or not...

Legia,

I think *8 YEARS* dominating a sport is sufficient enough to called a "power" in it...

Jari - I don't have anything against you... or the fact that you are proud of your nationality... however, and I know I am not the only one who believes that many, in fact, too much, of your statements could be deemed nationalistic... you put down Russia and Gazprom, told someone to not even compare Estonia and Latvia to Finland, etc. etc. etc.

I don't think those kind of comments are really necessary... I admire that you love your country and stick up for it... but you don't have to go so far sometimes.

Chris16 - a little misunderstanding between us.... Greece has been one of the powers in Weightlifting over the last few years, no doubt.... However, I was talking about OVERALL AND HISTORY-WISE... look at the WC statistics throughout its history and you will find Greece is ranked 17th overall. I have the stats if you want proof.

Chris16
26-11-2000, 01:08:AM
Oh...

You meant OVERALL. Ok, I see what you were saying now. Yeah Greece like u said have only come alive in the past 8 years.

But still History is just that HISTORY. It's good for nothing but statistics now...

The last Olympics saw Greece dominating and coming behind China in 2nd. Thats the PRESENT, which is worth alot more than the Past...

of course Russia would not suit the EU... I mean there is no reason why Russia should join them and I am not sure that EU want Russia to join... After USSR broke up, Russia still was against some of the EU decisions (like bombing Iraq, and Yugoslavia)... anyways, Russian economy is in deep sh*t, although you cannot judge it by the look -- in most Russian cities, the atmosphere is not that bad -- like in many european cities... Jari, get that bad propaganda out of your head and visit Moscow... You won't regret http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif Anyways, I have never been to Moscow or Saint Petersburgh or any Russian city on European continent http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

but if you look deeper, the things in Russia are not that well... There's a huge debt, war on Caucasus Mountains, and geographical problems Russia faced throughout its history. On question that is asked by americans: "why Russia never got richer than USA" I always answer that it's because of the yearly weather -- here in USA cows and pigs eat grass throughout the year, but in Russia you have to save a lot of grass for them so that they would not starve in winter.... Russia will never have a stable economy and that is why I think commie regime is the most suited for my country -- czarist regime sucked badly, and now post-commie regime sucks too with very high corruption level... Those 50 commie years were the ones Russia was admired for the wealth...

anyways, offtopic here...

As for the strongest man competition -- I watch that sometimes , and Scandinavian (Finland and Iceland), Baltic (Latvia and Lithuania) and Oceanic coutnries dominate it. One time there was a russian guy and I was way overhappy..

But that competition still does not show where the real strong men are... If truly strongest men from Russia would have been chosen, than it would be questionable who will lead the competition... But who will go to some Siberian village and find a guy who daily does the amount of work in freezing weather that is done by those competetitors at the strong man competition in Cyprus, Malta, Morocco...

And 80,000 Russians were strong enough to show up at the game Spartak-Arsenal with -10 celsius.... even Wenger said: "strong people"... Like Vikings who drank a lot of rum and smoked a lot of dope before a big fight (that is true http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif)... My brother once at the age of 16 about 3 years ago with damaged liver drank one bottle of vodka and was able to walk up to 8 miles and drag his friend along.... But recently there was a case in here in California that a high-school kid at the age of 19 died after drinking 6 small glasses of tequila which is not stronger than vodka....

as for weight-lifting -- wasn't Russia also good at it?

RR - you just made my day, man!! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif A whole bottle? Wow, man, that is impressive... I think it's the Eastern European blood we have! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
My friends and I like to call vodka 'Polish Water'.... we drink Wyborowa, the good stuff.

Oh, and yeah, history-wise, the USSR is the best country overall in weightlifting, just so u know.

Chris16 - no hard feelings, eh? It was just a mix up... and plus, I miss the days when Poland used to dominate weightlifting, but hey, what can u do?!?! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

Unfortunately, as I live in Canada and do not get ESPN, I rarely (if ever) see the Strongest Man Competition... man, I used to love watching that! It was so cool! I still remember some of the guys, Bill Katzmaier (US), Manfred Hoeberl (the Austrian pussy with 26 inch biceps http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif ), Bishop Dolegiewicz (Canadian of Polish descent), Magnus Ver Magnusson (Iceland), Flemming Rasmussen (Denmark), Derek Boyer (Fiji), etc. etc.
Man, I miss that show!!!!!!!!

well it wasn't me -- it was my brother... And his friend apparently drank MUCH more than my brother... Also, about 1 hour before that, they both drank 1 gallon of beer on a soccer match (the city team, btw, was losing the whole season) and after the game they both drank about 2 bottles of Stolichnaya Vodka.... they were so drunk that they were not allowed to take public transport (bus or street-car) and walked 8 miles....... Also, they got arrested when they almost came home on a 8-mile trip from the stadium....

I thought vodka was a Russian product -- at least it is the only product transported here in America... there was an american kid once also who got drunk by drinking...beer (!!!) http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif.... What a loser.. they are all weak here...

Yeah you're both right RR and Legia. Many consider us nordic people to be crazy to stand such cold temperatures. In Finland our national relaxion method is taking a sauna. Saunas of coarse originate and come from Finland. Then after a Sauna you have a beer and run into the cold and jump into freezing water after drilling a hole in it then you get out before the water freezes. Then you enter the x-tremely warm sauna again and you continue. It's great fun as for Russia no worries RR I'm sure I'll visit St. Petersburg some time. It's right next to Helsinki (well close) and it's nicer than Moscow cause it has the Hermitage and nicer public areas but I have heard it is very poor which is a shame. But many fins are still mad about loosing Karelia to Russia or as we call it the ORIGINAL Karjala. This is where Putin spends his holidays and originates from. He might have finnish blood...
The Vikings were scary if you ever have a chance to come to one of the scandinavian countries (Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark) then have a look at the museums that cover the topic. There are scary looking ships they used....

Actually, Jari, Karelia was a part of Russia for, i don't know, 500-600 years now.... And Finland was a part of Russia from early 1800's to 1917 when Lenin gave it to Germans... But then, nazi Germany and USSR signed a non-aggressional pact in 1939 in which secretely, the nazi Germany allowed us to take over Baltic countries and Finland.... And the Finnish of course did not like that -- they attacked our forces on...skis.... Of course it was not an Ethiopean army, it was Russian, and we are also addicted to bad weather...

As for sauna -- yep, i think it is a Finnish word... But there is something known as Russian sauna (banya)... It is basically the same thing you said, but for the americans it is very hard to understand -- we use parts of a tree or a bush to shove ourselves... Later of course, we run to the ice if it is cold and dig a hole there and wash there.... And then come back..

There was a Russian movie made in 1995 which ended up being the best Russian comedy of 1995... There was a Finnish actor also who speaks Russian (forgot his name). It is basically about how the Finnish guy wants to see real Russian hunter (as he dreams) but when he joins a group of "hunters" he sees how much we drink, and that in order to go to hunting, you do not have to bring the gun http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif And throughout the movie there was no living being killed...

2 years ago there have been a sequel to this story, and it was about how the same group of hunters, but without their Finnish friend, got lost in the Finnish bay and went to Finland instead of the place they needed to go.... It's funny, though..

I knew that Yeltsin spends his holidays in Karelia... Don't know about Putin.. and visit St. Petersburgh... Or at least Moscow... In Russia it is not like in USA, there are no slum regions like here, and policemen usually take a bum off the streets if he/she is lying down on the street in front of everybody, again, unlike here..

Jari Litmanen
27-11-2000, 12:00:AM
Yeah in Finland we have a law that if you drink on the streets you will be fined 500 marks. Drinking in public is not allowed.
Of coarse the idea of the Sauna is from Finland we invented it.... yeah when there is a sea link between st petersburg and helsinki I will go. A few russian ships operate the line I have heard. I am sure I will go to st. petersburg some time but I know I will never go to Moscow. (well u never know)

Yeah visit Helsinki. We have the best hotel in scandinvia so I'm sure if you visit it you'll have a fun time!
the hotel's website: http://www.hotelkamp.fi/
pics of the hotel:
http://www.hotelkamp.fi/kuvat/h_huoneet.jpg

Hope you come.. I recommend u stay at this hotel.. they have cheaper rooms of coarse if you're not looking for anything too expensive

Well... I have never been to Europe.. in Russia I lived on the very far east, near North Korea border... I plan a trip to European Russia this summer (Moscow->Perm->my city Vladivostok->California) which looks like a trip around the world....

If I ever go -- I'll remember...

Oh yeah, there are laws in Russia of course too, but not a lot of people follow them... For 14-year old it is no problem to buy alcohol... In Moscow and other European Russian cities they made the laws stricter, but not where I lived...
