Every time they release a new FIFA we rush out and buy itand get rid of the old game because we KNOW we will have to COMPLETELY rethink the way we play the game.
I've had enough, I've bought every version of Fifa since the very first Megadrive game. But this is the absolute worst version yet.
-They've completely changed the controls.
-They've completely changed the normal speed.
-It is absolutely impossible to get a decent camera angle.
-This new shot meter ... WHAT THE FAAA! .. How awkward can you get .. I don't want to look down every time I have to shoot, to then find myself tackled by someone who wasn't there 2 seconds before.
-HOW? Do you keep the ball?
-Passing ... has gone to which corner of hell?
-The graphics are improved I suppose .. so I guess that's a good point.
-But the graphics do you no good when all you can see is 2 players in 'tele' and no decent angle in 'tower'.
-This new feckin' icon for players that you are not using ... IT'S ALMOST THE SAME AS THE BLARDY ONE THAT YOU _ARE_ USING!
-5 Stadiums!?! (or whatever the ferk it is)
-I can't think of anything right now .. but give me two more days and I might come up with some more....

How bad is this game.

Lemme help you out.

-one-sided referees
-no "reality" feel. By that I mean that FIFA 2K1 does not feel like a football game.
-"precision" tackles by computer all the time, every time.
-absolutely pointless set pieces.
-incomplete rosters
-delirious commentary
-blind passing
-what happened to the concept of "TEAM DEFENCE"
-players that do not charge the ball, instead they seem content to wait until the other team has it
-goalkeepers who are either superhuman, or
-they stand in goal until someone gets the ball, whether they are on the same team or not

geez .... this is the last time I buy FIFA, unless they change the game radically, and for the better. losers.

Here's what i dislike about fifa2001 and wishes for fifa 2002.

-when i pass the ball to my teammate, he should run back to get the pass instead of the CPU running forward and he intercept the ball!
-through pass should be passed to ANY direction i wan any not magneted towards my players.
-Goal keepers should punch out the ball or tipped it to the corner more often than to hold it.
-improve the ball physics
-make the pitch BIGGER, not much progress this year, it is bigger, but not as big as i imagined.
-make the game slower, the normal option isn't quite normal.
-i should be able to make bicycle and overhead kicks only if i tapped the shoot button many times. Make the player miss-kick and miss aim the bicycles.
-i should be able to volley shoot/pass only when i press shoot/pass when the ball is below the chest level. Why can we only pass only when the ball is at the ground.
-only tackle to the direction of where i "point" to, and not towards the players! that explains why the CPU silde tackles perfectly. And with that, we should be able to dribble past the CPU.
-CPU don't tackle/slide so often, instead follow me and block me from passing.
-able to lob the keeper with the shoot meter
-show replays of offside and goals almost scored.
-allows us to tap and let the ball roll into goal.
-make the crowd look smaller.
-able to let the ball go through players/goalkeeper's leg.
-player kick the ball as far as he can when the ball is going out or clear the ball off the line no matter if i press pass/long pass/shoot.
-what i have not mentioned have already been mentioned.

However, fifa 2001 is still a nice game, considerd the best soccer game for computers. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
A moment of Truth: If ISS/winning eleven comes out for computers, Fifa is gonna be my seciond choice.

Someone should patch ISS over to the PC then we wouldnt need this forum to complain about this crap game. Sorry SoccerGaming.
Actually Soccer gaming should organise some kind of petition to send to microsoft.
"The release me from EA crap petition"
Sounds good?

I agree FIFA 2001 has problems. But the guy who started this topic, all his problems sounded like amatuer problems. Like looking down to shoot. Learn to play the game before you complain.

Some things I think should be changed:

1. Abilities should be out of at least 10 not 7. Players should also have form ie. if a striker stops scoring for a few games his shooting level should drop a bit etc.

2. Goalkeepers should give away penalties etc. Should be prone to silly mistakes from time to time, like Picking up a backpass etc. and also goalkeepers should be able to save more shots to keep the score down, however they should punch more shots and stop catching thumping three kicks!

3. The Fixtures/Results page on Consecutive Season should show the scorers and time when scored in brackets after the scores.

4. On Consecutive Season you should have a Trophy Cabinet page where it lists (along with pretty pictures) all the trophies you have won. It could also hold small records like Top Scorer ever and Transfer Record etc.

5. Ability to change player numbers and kits at the end of each season during a consecutive season game.

6. Loads more stats on the page which currently only shows goals and cards: it should show offsides, clean sheets, pass completion rate, shots to goal %, shots on target and other stats for players.

7. Referee should not be so ridiculasly biased.

8. Computer should also bring on substitutes to counteract your own tactical changes.

9. Should be able to appoint or you club and team captain. He should lead the team out onto the pitch, lift the trophies etc.

That's what I've done for the past 4½ years learn a new game (virtually) every year.
It's quite a crass, and snotty view to 'suggest' that I'm amateur.
Perhaps amateur on whole @ all games maybe .. but since I had my megadrive 'back in the day' I've only been beaten a handfull of times .. so perhaps I'm not as amateur as I sound .. perhaps I need a reaction to get people talking???
Anyway .. you'd probably beat the **** out of me .. but hey . I'd still play you to see what other excellent players are.... THe problem with Fifa is .. that most people (certainly that I've ever met & played .. think that they're the Don .. at Fifa .. and it often turns out to be rather true .. but then they start scoring the same goal over and over .. or all the obvious back post head etc ...
oh bugger .. I'm sounding bitter .. sorry .. I don't mean to sound bitter ..
I just think that surely if you have a shot meter it should be relevant to the play . instead (at least when playing @ 1280 or 1024) of bottom of a rather large screen ... perhaps I should get a smaller screen.
No .. Like I said .. I get angry every yar they release a new game because they change the rule book again .. and it's not a couple of weeks before I get good again ... sorry I only get to play a few times a week .. But regardless of this .. I still think they should concentrate more on developing a formula instead of RE-Developing a formula every year.
I rented ISS once on my snes years back and took an instant dislike to the way it played. I couldn't imagine it being better than FIFA on mi' MD .. and it wasn't . to me .. but (from an outsider's point of view) .. they seem to have developed their engine release by release .. and the way in which it plays (at least from an outsider's point of view) doesn't seem to have altered from a path that's headed towards some ISS Nirvana ..
Fifa is headed towards it's own Nirvana .. but it may take a lot longer to get there because the road builders keep arguing about the way

goto http://easports.ea.com/community.html# And click on the "Message Boards" link. Then goto "FIFA 2001 FORUM" and put these posts there. If does no good for us to be berating about FIFA 2001, when no one from EA reads these posts. Goto the source .... tell your friends, get people to flood that post so that EA get so flippin annoyed, they might acctually listen to us.

iceboy, I think Metal Gear Solid was from Konami! And its graphics are even better in PC version! You got a point man! Let's hope ISS comes on computers as soon as possible! That would make EA improve FIFA 2002. Competition provides improvement!!!

Konami has a few games for the PC:
http://www.konami.com/main/home_frame.html

But i think there isn't any PC games from Konami SPORTS yet. You know... EA and EA Sports are quite... different.

After EA, every firm started to make a "SPORTS" branch of the company! Konami directors can't be so fool not releasing ISS in computers...I'm not such a fan of ISS, I just expect EA to improve the gameplay dramaticly after their sales go down with the release of ISS on PC!

uhhh, the passing in the game just sux! and all the dimbo tricks...I have never, no never seen anyone flick the ball over his head twice, and by doing so go all the way from his own half to the other goal- have you?
maybe I' m crap at this game (doubt it, been playin fifa since 96) but i just can't get a decent passing game goin..i find it much easier just running off with the ball and flickin it over my head "and there he goes again flickin that ball alright http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif"
It just isn t realistic!
and what a bought high through passes?! only possible when you have the ball in your own half and tap shoot! HOOT...

HAGI 10

I hate the passing and agree 100%!

-These skill moves are very hard to do in real life! All those moves done after the other should be done if the player has 7 out of 7 ball control ability!

-There are many skill moves done in real matches (done by people like Figo,Zidane) why is EA insisting on flippings and spinnings? The ALT key is totally crap!

-Why aren't the players left or right footed and use both of them perfectly? That's unrealistic too!

-Referees should be collidable with players and the ball.(So that I can kick his @ss as he supports the CPU hahahahaaaa!!!)

OK - So I might have assumed incorrectly you were an amatuer - I meant you need to play the game more, and FYI EA Sports does check these Forums.

MadManMoon
23-11-2000, 02:49:AM
Yeah .. I agree .. I will definitely play the game more .. I force myself to by uninstalling the last one .. they'll be a period around the end of January where I'll just give up .. then I'll slowly get back into it and hour after #8Ð.
I did notice though .. actually a friend noted this for me ..
When I'd said about the graphics being unfeasibly large and taking up the whole screen .. he pointed out .. this is probably to make the PS2 version look as good as possible. We all know the more you see of the pitch the better ... Anyway .. I think he's right .. I really think they're trying to make the PS2 one look O.K. .. which .. unfortunately .. it's not ..
Nev mind ...
Rock on Tommeh!

Q.)Will EA EVER Learn?

A.)5 years since Fifa 96, millions of dollars (Fifa is one of the top selling games in the world), and they still can't get unscripted ball physics, still no dynamic ball movement, no control over the strength of passing, no differential body sizes, no Nigeria, no Iran, no Morrocco, no Ukraine, NO STATS KEEPING - only goals and cards, STILL CAN'T GET A REF THAT ISN'T BLIND.

No, I don't think they'll learn until they get some competition in the PC market. Heck, if I was a Fifa programmer I'd just churn out the same sh!t with a new soundtrack and graphics every year because i)It's easy and ii)People will buy it regardless.

Hell, they must be laughing at the Madden 2001 PS2 programmers - the Madden guys made an AMAZING game, with real physics, all-time teams, franchise modes with salary-caps, free agents, player stats chaning over time etc. While the Fifa geniuses just put Moby in the soundtrack and new graphics and Fifa will probably outsell Madden around the world by 10:1.

I should have pirated Fifa 2001, and sent my $50 to soccergaming to distribute it between the guys that run the sites, the forums, and the guys that make the various patches that fix the mistakes that the 'professionals' make.

Hmm the AI goalkeepers are pretty stupid sometimes. They are lying on the ground for
several second pretty often in my games. They also like to run out of their goal and back
when by forward is trying to shoot at the goal.

Thing they should change too:

1. I would like to select my home or away kit before the match. Fifa just likes to select
stupid combinations sometimes. This is pretty common with teams who use red and
blue shirts.

2. The AI should be able to learn from it's mistakes. It should be impossible to score
lot's of goals with just one tactic.
