Hi,

i would like to know if there is a way to edit the files where your tournament progress get saved to so you can manipulate results as you want. I tried by opening with notepad but although there are some readable paragraphs most is only garbled characters.

Thank you.

I believe that Rinaldo's Internal Master will work with tournament files as well as manager mode files (there isn't a whole lot of difference in the internal formats)

Notepad will corrupt it. Try Rinaldo's Internal Master, but you can always try opening it in a hex editor. You may be able to change some of the values and save it without corrupting the file. Of course back up your original file before trying this.

Let us know if you are able to edit and save with Rinaldo's Internal Master.

it worked fine, thank you. I know that this is a forum for fifa 10 only, but now that we are already talking about tournament files, i would like to ask you if you know if there is something similar to edit this kind of files but for FIFA 07 as well, it seems like internal master releases started off from FIFA 08 so there is no version for previous FIFA releases.

Thank you.

No, its not cheating actually. See, i have made my own 10 teams and i like to make them compete in a single tournament, but i only play using one of them. The rest have to make their way to the finals by their own winning by simulating the games CPU vs CPU. My teams are really strong and they are supposed to achieve this easily. However, sometimes computer simulations are really stupid and unrealistic and i cant get my teams get passed through teams they should beat very easy. The other day i had a hard time trying to get a victory for one of my teams against Werder Bremen which should be easy since my team is much stronger in all aspects. However, after simulating like 100 times the game, i couldnt get a win from them not even once. The most i got was a draw which really pissed me off since its totally out of logic. So thats why i need the editor for, in these cases i have no choice but to change the result manually since the simulation doesnt throw a logic result.

I think there is a program by Steve Pitts for FIFA 07 ;)

Thats what i thought but i read that that program only gets the data from the files and parse it onto a text file. Do you have it? i couldnt find a download link that works.

Thanks for the plug guys, but my tools have only ever really been about reading the saved game data and are certainly not general editing tools (I did add the ability to fix specific issues but that is all). It ought to be possible to get Internal Master xx to read the data from any version of the game, since the metadata formats are pretty much identical, but Rinaldo has made the database location logic a hidden function rather than allowing the user to select. I guess if you didn't have FIFA 08 installed on a PC then you could copy certain elements from FIFA 07 into a folder structure for FIFA 08 and fool it, but since I still have FIFA 07 and FIFA 08 properly installed on my PC I cannot test that theory (and I may well be talking utter hogwash)

You mean copying the c.tournament files from fifa 07 folder onto fifa 08 folder? i have only fifa 07 installed so i could test if you give me more details. By the way, i tried opening one of those files with internal master 08 but it didnt work, i get an error.

Thank you.

No, I mean creating a FIFA 08 folder within Program Files and cloning certain files (specifically FIFA.DB in data\cmn and ENG.DB in data\cmn\fe). You might also need a couple of registry entries, but that depends on what logic Rinaldo uses to find the files.

I have a hard disc with both fifa 07 and 08 installed. The fifa 08 folder already exists in program files in that case. In another hard disc i have only 07 installed, so what else would i need?

I'm afraid that I can't answer that question perfectly because I don't know which files Rinaldo's tool is looking for. He is probably the best person to answer the question and he may well tell you that what I've suggested is not even possible. For myself I would simply experiment, but I guess that you are probably going to struggle if you already have a FIFA 08 installation on the system concerned, referenced by entries in the registry.

I have 2 Operative systems, one with fifa 08 and other without it so i can test in that one but i just need you to tell me how should i do the test.

Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure why you can't experiment for yourself and see what happens, but the approach I would try be:

in the OS where you have FIFA 08 installed, export the FIFA 08 key from HKLM\Software\EA Sports using REGEDIT
in the OS without FIFA 08 installed, import the exported registry data into REGEDIT
create a FIFA 08 directory under Program Files and copy the FIFA 07 FIFA.DB into data\cmn and ENG.DB into data\cmn\fe
install and run IM08. If you get error messages see if they give you any clues as to what is missing, and copy the appropriate file from the FIFA 07 structure to the dummy FIFA 08 structure
if IM08 starts up cleanly then try loading a FIFA 07 manager mode data file, again applying an intelligent interpretation to any error messages

Thank you. That seems like a good idea. I contacted Rinaldo and he told me this:

No, IM08 gets some info from the registry file and cannot work for FIFA 07. Sorry.

so it could work with your idea, i will try and let you know.

Thank you.

Wow! it worked! i simply modify the registry and pointed the fifa 07 directory as the installation directory for fifa 08 and that was it! thank you so much for your advice. Now i can modify c.tournament files for fifa 07 as well!

Thank you!
