about ******* time the CL is back, baby!
I'll be at the Dragão Wednesday, should be a tremendous one.
Pretty sure the Arse will come and play for the 0-0 and nothing else, and we are gonna be all over them from the start.
Scoring the early goal would be a great morale booster and could lead us to a confortable win which is what I expect. Keeping a cleansheet and scoring at least a couple will do the job, and man I just can't wait to watch THE HULK back, he must be ******* hungry for football...
having said that, I go for a clean 2-0.
Falcao and Hulk to destroy Arsenal (H)
Not so excited when I think about the second leg though :(

LET'S GET IT ON!
Ilaje 15-02-2010, 04:42:AM This game sounds like a comic book...

Arse 3-1 (Vermaelen 2x, Walcott)
Hulk will be turned back into Bruce Banner (H).
Bobby 15-02-2010, 06:16:AM Eboue hat-trick
Arnau 15-02-2010, 02:35:PM Arsenal never play for a 0-0.
MaSsiVe 15-02-2010, 03:53:PM Erm...you should have watched their previous displays at the Dragão and you wouldn't think that way.
even Wenger himself admits that keeping a clean sheet is what they want, of course they will explore the counter-attack but the basis of their game will surely stand on stopping us from scoring.
Hulk will be turned back into Bruce Banner (H).
I'm OK with that as long as it only happens after he obliterates your arse. (H)
Bobby 15-02-2010, 06:34:PM Arsenal never play for a 0-0.
It's hard to when your goalkeeper is Almunia.
I remember when Hulk played in Japan for Kawasaki Frontale. His strike partner was called Magnum, so it was Magnum - Hulk. Awesome.

to kick out english team
Ilaje 16-02-2010, 09:09:AM ^Arsenal is not an English team (H).
INFESTA 16-02-2010, 09:37:AM Meh, not confident on this one too. We've been terrible for most of the season, with a particular knack to fail on the decisive moments. It is undeniable our team misses the confidence Lucho portrayed on the pitch, and Ruben is still too young in the team to boost the same levels of that 'intangible' confidence that makes good teams great.
This is the most crucial week for Porto this season, playing our hopes on the CL and Liga in 2 decisive matches...
Hope I'll be here next week saying I was wrong about us not coming through in the crucial moments.
Prediction: 1x1
Ilaje 16-02-2010, 06:35:PM ugh we are so messed with injuries for this game here is the squad though.
Arsenal : Fabianski, Clichy, Vermaelen, Campbell, Eboue, Nasri, Denilson, Fabregas, Diaby, Walcott, Bendtner, Mannone, Sagna, Silvestre, Traore, Vela, Ramsey, Rosicky
lineup will probably be
Fabianski
Sagna-Campbell-Vermaelen-Clichy
Cesc-Denilson-Diaby
Rosicky-B52-Nasri
Campbell to play his first UCL game since that night in Paris(screw you Belletti :swear2:!).
jimorrizon 16-02-2010, 07:08:PM hope Charlie Candle gets some minutes....
Jaboldinho 16-02-2010, 07:25:PM Atleast Almunia's not playing.
MaSsiVe 16-02-2010, 10:00:PM we have our share of problems too, there are no strikers available apart from Falcao (Farías and Orlando Sá are injured) CR10 is also injured, Meireles just got back from an injury and Hulk hasn't played for 2 months now because he's still suspended in Portugal (and hasn't even been convicted yet 8|).
Our match squad:
GKs: Hélton, Beto.
DFs: Miguel Lopes, Fucile, Bruno Alves, Rolando, Maicon, Alvaro Pereira.
MFs: Fernando, Guarín, Raul Meireles, Tomás Costa, Ruben Micael, Belluschi.
FWs: Mariano, Varela, Hulk, Falcao.
This should be our line-up:
------------Hélton-------------
Fucile-Rolando-B.Alves-A.Pereira
-----------Fernando-----------
------Belluschi----Rúben-------
Varela------------------Mariano
------------Falcao-------------
I wonder if Jesualdo will risk playing Meireles and Hulk for Belluschi and Mariano respectively, I wouldn't be for it though...the team has been playing good football lately and I believe there is no need to disrupt its flow.
Especially Hulk, he will come in handy throughout the match I reckon. He must be anxious to make a cracking comeback and what better stage to do it other than the CL (H)
Ilaje 16-02-2010, 10:16:PM I must say it's pretty impressive how Micael has settled into your team so easily, now do the same with David Addy.
MaSsiVe 16-02-2010, 10:50:PM He's a great player, manages to establish great balance in our midfield given his tactical awareness and also inject great creativity with his technique.
He came from Nacional so he's already used to our league which is a plus.
about Addy, we are yet to see him in action but he's been called up for every match since his arrival. Coincidently we always had the need for a back-up full-back for our last 3 or 4 matches so he got lucky making it to the squad (H)
I hope to see what he can do soon enough, btw have you ever watched him play?
If so, please share!

off to the match, let's play ball! :bouncy:
Coruja 17-02-2010, 06:24:PM A 0-0 draw would be fine to me. But i wish Porto pass trough Arsenal there in England..
Jaboldinho 17-02-2010, 07:59:PM Atleast Almunia's not playing.
Didn't seem to help, Fabianski just made a bundle.
Ilaje 17-02-2010, 08:07:PM (Away) GOAL!!!
Campbell scored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??
Jaboldinho 17-02-2010, 08:47:PM Yes.
Coruja 17-02-2010, 09:46:PM Porto's 2nd goal seems a little confuse.
Arnau 17-02-2010, 10:35:PM Atleast Almunia's not playing.
(H)
MaSsiVe 17-02-2010, 10:54:PM intense sh't out there, CL nights FTW (H)
it was important to get the edge on this one, although this is a very dangerous result for us.
We started off very well, FFS I was already desperate after 3 minutes because we had already missed 2 good chances, but then Fabianski gave us a hand (H)
Arsenal had a good first half, holding the ball well and giving us little possession but we ended up getting the lead right on the start of the second and went on to control the match without many problems...
LMAO at Fabianski at the second goal, so much naiveness. Instead of holding the ball to himself he simply gave it away for us to take the free-kick and what followed was pure pwnage, after watching the replay on TV I couldn't stop laughing at Campbell's face after seeing the ball go in (H)
Great game by Falcao, Varela and Fucile...and as I predicted, Meireles did tire up soon and Hulk was nowhere near a bet to be made from the start...he just doesn't have the rhythm to play so much time in such a demanding competition.
Now we just have to hold out for at least a draw at the Emirates and let the good times roll, baby (H)
Arnau 17-02-2010, 10:55:PM Porto played very dirty with Cesc, not only with faults, also with a lot provocations.
MaSsiVe 17-02-2010, 11:09:PM Awww, did he cry much?
I'm pretty sure those fouls were given by the ref, I mean being at the stands one doesn't have the same notion as watching the the game on TV, but it looked to me that everytime there was dubious contact between the players the ref would whistle mostly in Arsenal's favour.
Wenger is moaning about the second goal, priceless sh't (H)
Arnau 17-02-2010, 11:11:PM Wenger always cry.
I don't know about Cesc, but porto played dirty with him and it was premeditated.
MaSsiVe 17-02-2010, 11:17:PM It's normal to put pressure on the opponent's most important player.

I love/hate your use of the (H) smiley.
Fabianski? D'oh!
MaSsiVe 17-02-2010, 11:53:PM (H)!
apart from Fabianski's very own circus, what did you think of the match?
night 18-02-2010, 02:00:AM Fabianski..
We have a history of producing great goalkeepers but for some reason they make the glaring blunder every now and then. :(
Num Lock 18-02-2010, 03:08:AM as I said on the team thread, Arsenal needs to start buying men instead of boys during the transfer season.
And they seriously need to get a REAL hard tackling defensive mid, and a real striker, this team used to have people who were able to impose themselves through power, like Keown, Vieira, Petit...
it's sad to see Arsenal lacking the same things year after year. This is almost like watching my club now, it's like there is no hope of ever watching Arsenal be the beautiful Arsenal of years past simply because they have a new stadium or whatever excuse the board or Wenger said during the winter transfer season.
come on Arsenal man up!
Sevillista 18-02-2010, 04:21:AM I think Wenger is like me when I play FIFA 10 online... just not understanding why he/I can't beat the really good players.
Ilaje 18-02-2010, 05:57:AM (H)!
apart from Fabianski's very own circus, what did you think of the match?
Good result for us (bad performance, could have been beaten by more), surprised Porto kept trying to exploit our right flank when our left was definitely the weaker one. Pretty clear that Cesc had been made a target,
Porto deserved their win though. Ruben Micael & Silvestre Varela were good, and Hulk was Bruce Banner (H), looked like he had not played for two months...oh.
Anyways three weeks. Emirates. We still should go through.
goals and highlights

the second goal was legal !!! Was it a direct pass ??? they had to shoot direct or indirect???
anyway, I think Arsenal played ok and they were unlucky to not score more goals in a first half. Those deflections could easily go in.
Filipower 18-02-2010, 12:50:PM Porto's 2nd goal seems a little confuse.
Haha, que surpresa do caralho. A Benfiquista complaining. Don't you have the Europa League to worry about or something?

Retarded comment i didnt say it was illegal, only confuse. Like i said before i want Porto to pass trough.

That's Wenger for you.. His team can do no wrong, yet when it's done to them, it's due to bad refereeing. Hypocrisy as it finest
RuiCosta_10 18-02-2010, 05:40:PM Haha, que surpresa do caralho. A Benfiquista complaining. Don't you have the Europa League to worry about or something?
Dude, don't be so annoying, Benfiquista or not, that goal is indeed a strange goal, that has nothing to do with this case.
Now, about the goal, stupidities apart, I don't think this should be allowed. Ignore who have done it before and whatnot, this is not fair-play. And believe it or not, i could not care less if you go through or out, in fact, i was very pleased with the game last night, very enjoyable. And i was curious to see Hulk again, i really like to watch him play, but his lack of rhythm was clearly a step down.
INFESTA 18-02-2010, 08:31:PM Glad we got the win, so important at this stage! Yes, both our goals were unusual, but you got to give it to Ruben and Falcao, though: that was smart, fast thinking! :)
What really annoyed me was our lack of pressure on defense. Drove me nuts how we always gave Arsenal a good 2 meters distance to think their game. Could have killed us if their best line up was there...
Btw, classic moment for the ages:
'É, e agora nao vale, agora nao vale.... golo. golo!? GOLO!!! PORTO!!!' (H)

pede54 19-02-2010, 02:05:AM When the Chelsea hating asswipe Graham "3 Yellows" Poll, allowed Henry to do that against us, our protestations and claims of unsporting behaviour, were ridiculed by every gooner and pundit in the country.
Henry was lauded a genius for his quick thinking, and Poll (the prick) wore a self satisfied smirk on his face for the rest of the day.
Is it within the laws of the game? Yes it is.
Is it unsporting behaviour? I think it is but that's only my opinion. Others don't care whether it is fair or not as long as it goes in.
The gooners were on the recieving end for a change last night. They were done up like a kipper, and all I could do was laugh at it.
You just can't help laughing when it happens to someone else can ya? I get it now :innocent_smile_1:
Sevillista 19-02-2010, 09:13:AM It's not unsportsmanlike. It's part of the game and the only people to blame are the defenders and goalies who aren't paying attention.
pede54 20-02-2010, 12:00:AM It can't happen without the assistance of the ref. That's where I have a problem with it.
I know the laws of the game state that you are allowed to ask the ref if you can take a quick free kick. He might say yes or he might say no.
Why has the ref got a choice? He has a choice because the laws state that he needs to be sure that, (1) HE isn't obscuring the ball from the opposing team, or 2) HE isn't restricting the movement of players in any way.
The ref during the Porto-Arsenal game, allowed the quick free kick to be taken by Porto, but he WAS obscuring the ball from the defending players, and he WAS in Sol Campbell's way when the kick was taken.
Porto didn't do anything wrong. They asked, and the ref said yes when he should have said no. The ref got it wrong this time.
If the Arsenal players hadn't had lost their heads after the kick was awarded, we wouldn't even be talking about this. Flapianski should of simply kept the ball until his defence was ready. That's where the fault lies really.
It's still a pretty good result for the Arse to take back to the Emirates though.
Filipower 20-02-2010, 01:05:AM Thing is, it was the ref who took the ball from Fabianski. What a tool, the goal is more his doing than even Ruben or Falcão!
I think the back pass was more controversial.
Filipower 20-02-2010, 11:39:AM What do you mean? The ball was slowing down, Campbell touched it back to Fabianski. He kind of tripped and everything but it did have an influence on how fast the keeper got to it.
MikeyM 20-02-2010, 01:30:PM To be fair to Fabianski, he was risking a yellow if he had kept the ball from the referee.
Did I just defend an Arsenal player? Oh God...
Filipower 20-02-2010, 01:44:PM You of all people should know what happened last time Porto defeated an English team 2-1 at home in the last 16 round of the CL. (H)
What do you mean? The ball was slowing down, Campbell touched it back to Fabianski. He kind of tripped and everything but it did have an influence on how fast the keeper got to it.
sorry man, you misunderstood me. I'm just saying that if Arsenal fans want to argue about something, they should talk about that back pass (not the goal!!!).(Y)
_FCP_ 22-02-2010, 05:56:PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqIlD2gtYaQ a little FC Porto story.
What most people fail to see is that Wenger is just trying to take out the focus from the mistakes his defense made by putting all the blame on the referee. He knows Porto took the quick free-kick legally but he's just trying to protect both Campbell and Fabianski from being criticised, so he's saying the ref is guilty for allowing the goal.
And you know what? It works, since we already have a crapload of posts discussing if the goal was legal or not, while some posters have forgotten Fabianski's mistake by catching the backpass with his hands and then giving the ball away.
Filipower 24-02-2010, 12:45:AM Again, not his fault for giving the ball away. It was the douchebag referee who requested it. It was Fabianski and Campbell's fault on the back pass and catch, not what happened next.
An more experienced keeper would've held the ball and taken a yellow card. Better than conceding a goal.
Filipower 24-02-2010, 10:41:AM And also more stupid. Nothing would predict that the referee would allow Ruben to take the quick free-kick.
Coruja 09-03-2010, 08:12:PM Porto is playing very bad. 2-0 for Arsenal at the moment.
I think that Jesualdo makes very bad choices.
5 Star Arsenal, the first English team to reach the last eight of UCL this year, they really did in style.
congrats.

But you're referring to your beloved Barca. Obviously.

porto got pwned, Arsenal don't need cesc anymore, send him back.

hahaha, you're right.
Rooney scored a fantastic free kick in that match, but did he score another free kick after that?
Porto played good matches this year and last year but Arsenal dominated them. I think Arshavin should get lot's of credit. He played really well.

I don't think so LOL. Most of the time Ronaldo/Giggs were taking FKs. Rooney's long range shots were somehow superior before TBH. Now he's more a box scorer. Rooney scored a hattrick in that game.
yeah, I remember United headline in their website after the match, "The greatest Debut of all time". Ruud scored one goal as well, I was a big Ruud fan at that time.

Arsenal will spank the minnows but falter against the big boys
Pizarro14 10-03-2010, 03:41:PM Not gonna lie but i actually took the time to watch this match in the office. But all I saw out there was the arsenal team on the field last night. damn. talk about a beat down.
bruno167 10-03-2010, 05:37:PM As a Porto fan i am obviously very disapointed with last night game but unfortunatly i can´t say i am surprised with the result.
The way we were playing in the last games for the league indicates the a result like this could happen.
Arsenal could have scored 10 goals last night.:clapwap: We have played with only 2 players on the pitch. Helton and Falcao.
I dont remember to see my team playing so badly. Even in the year after we win the CL in 2004 i think we played better than that.
There is no attitude,no determination ,no concentration, nothing!
Players like B.Alves dont have their head in Porto anymore. This is unnacceptable.
The usual inventions of Jesualdo in the big games doesn´t help. Nuno A. Coelho as DM? He haven´t played a game for the championship and he is CB and he play in a game like this? Hulk doesn´t play at 2 months and dont defend and plays?
If he has some shame on his face would resign right away. If he can´t motivate the players for playing in the CL what will do in the rest of league games where we dont have nothing for play?
I am seeing us get crushed by Benfica in league cup final.
Most of the players of the team doesn´t deserve to wear this jersey.
Congrats to Arsenal who plays great football.
See you in 2 years because next year no CL for us.:clapwap:
I have to think positive. Last time we didn´t qualify to the CL we took Uefa Cup and CL next years.(Y)
Happens what happens Porto 4 Life!
Coruja 10-03-2010, 06:54:PM Braga in the CL... I dont like the idea.
Bobby 11-03-2010, 03:06:AM Arsenal will spank the minnows but falter against the big boys
Arsenal have a decent record against "bigger" European teams, actually. Traditionally the likes of Valencia were Arsenal's slayers.
Barca aside, Arsenal can outplay any team in the world. The problem we run into domestically is an inability to cope physically.
