Ulysses 22-04-2010, 07:03:PM **** list, Manchester has debt of 800 milion dollars and Real Madrid and Barca should be over you
Zakov 22-04-2010, 08:10:PM Its a listed according to the value of football clubs not the amount of money they have or owe.
Ulysses 22-04-2010, 08:18:PM value of football clubs according to what ? Income from brand marketing + value of players ? Because Real Madrid is a bigger brand then Manchester United everyone knows.

Yeah, it's probably referring to the squad value... Then how the hell Arsenal is over Barça?
Nimreitz 22-04-2010, 08:37:PM Value of the club. Just like you would put a price tag on how much a regular company is worth.
Ulysses 22-04-2010, 09:41:PM forbes has the tendency of putting always Manchester on top where the reality is that Real Madrid has a bigger brand and is a more valuable club. Delloite Money League is more accurate

Arnau 22-04-2010, 10:24:PM Barça its priceless.

While I think you're probably right, your ranking only deals with revenue which is strongly correlated to value, but not perfectly.
This list is based solely on income from sponsorship, shirt sales, ticket sales etc. It doesn't take into account any debt. United is the most supported team worldwide. That's why we are sitting on top. Shame that much of that money is going into the debt.

It explains everything in detail if you read the articles on that link I supplied. But I guess you wont want to read so I've extracted a key part to help you understand.
Our team values are calculated using revenue (excluding player transfers and dispositions) multiples based on historical transactions.
Operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) fell for our top 20 from an average of $50 million to $32 million. But the bigger concern is the growing bifurcation in profitability among Europe's elite clubs.
these tables are a bit unfair though. Your basically comparing Spain with the United Kingdom which is unfair. There's a massive difference in population, GDP (almost 1 trillian more) etc. Of course revenue will be higher. You also got the fact that English is probably the most global language which leads to other exploits. Factor these things in and it helps explains why 7 of the top 20 teams are English.
I found it interesting though because of obvious reasons.

Which is why they are more valuable. Jesus Christ.

Do you not understand? I will give you one example. What do you think happens when they have Shirts made in China. The exchange rate of the British Sterling lets you further exploit costs. You are then selling the shirts at a much higher profit in a country where people have a higher average wage which means getting away with even higher prices and profits.
I'm just giving this as an example of course but there lots of benefits from having a entertainment service located in a country of higher economical value and influence.
And as I mentioned there's the huge advantage of having English as a global language too. You could even look at the countries influence on the world and immigration problems which further expands the 'British branding' which helps these English teams.
I guess what I'm trying to say is lots of exploits to increase revenue.
heh. Everyone's just going to pick the table that's most favorable to their team. There are bound to be differences between them, strengths of currencies yada yada.
MarCn 29-04-2010, 02:06:PM Chelsea only 9

ShearerM4 29-04-2010, 07:52:PM A second tier club and still in the top 20 :coffe-anim:
