Wow, just played the demo for a few hours... can't get enough.. it JUST RULES.

Here are my favorite parts:

Shooting - The new powerbar rules, no matter how much power I put into the shot the ball always rockets like a ball on a rubber band to the upper corners or right to the keepers hands. SACCER MAGIC! Forget about low shots.. that's not in real SACCER. Oh wait, you can do those... but only with the pass button when nobody else is around. And chipping the keeper... who needs it?

Passing - In SACCER the ball is never played into space so another player can run onto it.. it always goes directly to the player, whether in the air or on the ground. Oh and the crosses .. they go directly to the player's head like some sort of magnet..and always right near the penalty spot. FIFA 2001 captures these concepts SACCER to the utmost.

Defense - It wouldn't be SACCER without tackles... EA Madden Style. Who needs to use body contact and positioning or even running when you can slide tackle 40 times in a row down the whole pitch. Watch when your supporting players run away from the opposition as they approach your goal... amazing! And remember, you never get cards or fouls in SACCER. Once again FIFA 2001 is SACCER SUPREME!

Special Moves - SACCER just wouldn't be SACCER without them. My favorite is starting inside my half and doing about a hundred 360 spins.. then right when I get near the box I do a double rainbow flickover to 360 BIKE!!!! You see that all the time in the real sport don't you? I mean this is SACCER we're talking about right?

If it's in SACCER... It's in the game

EA have to get rid of these special moves and try to actually watch a player dribble by cutting the ball left or right. when the player runs with the ball he's actually pushing the ball in front of him and he then might have to push the ball past an opposing player with speed? If there are too many opposing players, WELL he'll have to pass the ball off to someone else who may be in the clear.

the 360 spin will make winning games very easy even in "world class" mode
It was easy in fifa99 and even easier to win games in fifa2000 in "world class"

EA must redesign the dribbling engine if they are to capture the magic of "total football"

Nobody tells you to do spin moves up and down the field/pitch whatever the hell you want to call it. I have a rather easy solution for you. click on control panel then the add/remove button and remove the game and take your punk ass crying and Shut the HELL up. If your so good how come you don't make one yourself? Did you pay for this game? No...It's the demo . If you don't like it...Then delete it and save your pansy crying BS for someone who cares.Because those of us who appreciate them trying to create a good game are all that matters. So until then ... Head down to your computer store install rugby and cricket and shut the hell up .

I just cant get it, why have a powerbar and still have to hold back to shot low? Thats exactly what a powerbar is for so you dont have to hold back or up for the shoot power.

I guess they just implemented the powerbar for the looks and to have another feature on their feature list

Im still pissed about the "powerbar", what the hell is wrong with EA why add a powerbar that has no functionality. I guess they are just trying fool us with another great list of "NEW" and useless features.

These Canadians who make the game need to listen to us europeans who know how football is really played, FIFA has become quite unrealistic in some ways, esp the silly 360 spin that is essential to scoring goals in 99 and 2000 FIFA's.

'SACCER' or Football as it is rightly known was more accurately reflected in the brilliant WORLD CUP 98 game.

I hope the 2001 version has the same magic that game had, i will be much wiser in about an hour when the demo's downloaded.

you know what? ea have a lot of english programmers from england to make fifa. so it is not just the canadians who makes the game.

You can finally do a good long ball... just hit "shoot" before the mid line and it will act like a long pass and not a shot!

I might agree with you if this was the Atari 2600 age or even 5 years ago, but did you ever try playing a game like Unreal Tournament? those freaking bots have 5 times the intelligence/logic of a central defender in FIFA. Also, the chess games currently on the market will beat 99.9 percent of players if set on the toughest difficulty, I don't even think you can be competitive unless you're a Grand-master.

If the AI in FIFA 2001 is not impressive my guess would be that EA decided that the future of the game is in multi-player.

Disagree with you on that one. The low shot can be as powerful as the high one. That's why D-Pad and Power Bar will give you an option to use both.

I'm able to score goals without using 360 spins and crap like that. If you don't like the special moves don't use them, you can win without using them.

I'm not defending EA per say, I think the game still stinks in alot of ways, but I started palying it with FIFA95 on my sega genesis and I'll take the the current game over that anytime.
