A month ago I thought Portugal was gonna be an embarrassment at the WC, but they seem to be playing better now and are gaining confidence, so might do well after all. I saw the friendly against Cameroon and things were looking better than in qualifying. Ivory Coast is a tough first game though, a draw probably wouldn't be too bad a result considering everyone in the group will likely lose to Brazil.

Will be glad if we snatch a 1-0 win...Danny to score.

About the other matches Brazil should have a walk in the park while the other game is a strong contender for the "no one cares" award, except for the respective NT fans of course.

Having said that, Força Portugal :)

Slovakia doing a superb job to hold New Zealand scoreless, I'll have you all know New Zealand is widely considered to be the Brazil of Oceania (Fiji is Holland, Vanuatu is Spain, and New Caledonia is Germany).
If the Slovaks can hold out against this Kiwi onslaught then watch out, massive party in Bratislava tonight.

In all seriousness; terrific job by the Kiwis, they're going for it and getting Slovakia to play on the counter, I reckon the whole of Australia is behind you.

Pretty sure that goal was offside, poor Kiwis getting robbed. Just because most NZ fans don't know the rules, and are wondering why the blue team didn't convert their try, doesn't mean they should be taken for a ride.

Paulo Ferreira its useless!! CIV attacks were almost always in his side.

Fábio Coentrão, was great, for me MOM.

After Simão's entrance, Portugal played a lot better. In this final minutes CIV scared a little. Fair result to me. Glad to see Rubem Amorim make his debut

Eduardo: 10 [He did well when he was called]
Paulo Ferreira: 3 [Just... forget it]
Ricardo Carvalho: 7
Bruno Alves: 7
Fabio Coentrão: 9
Pedro Mendes: 5
Raul Meireles: 5
Deco: 5
Danny: 2
Ronaldo: 6
Liedson: 3

----

Simão: 5
Rubem Amorim: X [Played few minutes, but did a great play in the end]
Tiago: 5

CIV vs POR, another lackluster game, sigh.

drake122
15-06-2010, 05:33:PM
New Zealand play was pure garbage, they were totally clueless for 92 mins and then found a goal by accident. Didn't deserve a single point for that gameplay.

However, shame on Slovakia for switching to total defense after the first goal. They were like a bunch of idiots. Seriously, what the hell was that supposed to be?

Considering that SVK goal was offside, the draw is a correct result, I suppose. Too bad both teams now have almost zero chance to get through to the next round. Well, in truth, NZ had zero chance from the beginning but who cares.

CIV vs POR was quite boring too. Good effort by CIV though. Gervinho is worse than Rigobert Song by the way. Absolutely gay hairstyle.

I am embarrassed with Brasil's performance. Kaká is playing like s***, Gilberto Silva and Felipe Mello are useless, L. Fabiano just touched the ball twice... Robinho is the only one trying to do something. I hope Dunga has opened his eyes now. He made bad choices but it's not too late to fix them. Ramires and Daniel Alves would be very good options now.

Even with the goal, Brasil isn't playing well.

Brasil has the obligation of winning, but I don't think it's enough when we play poorly as we did today.

It was the worst game, for me. We should have done the same Germany did over Australia or even better.

Gene Reginato
15-06-2010, 09:31:PM
For anyone who watched the last 4 years, it was predictable. Brazil doesn't shine against weak opponents because Dunga worries about defense, only.

Against better teams Brazil plays better. For our lucky we hope this trend continues.

I hear ya man, what a crap performance that was. It was sad to see what Portugal has become compared to what they were even 4 years ago. Where was the dynamic, attacking football? All I saw was a team that couldn't complete two passes and was scared to take any risks. I'm sick of the Ronaldo hype too, I actually believe the NT would be better off without him.

I really miss Figo & Rui Costa..

I'm not too impressed with Queiroz as manager. He's an excellent assistant manager but a very average manager.

Part of the problem is that he takes jobs that are way over his head. Portugal and Madrid are the only ones since 2002. That's ridiculous. I think he'd be okay at a smaller club where the pressure wasn't too high.

That's exactly right. Queiróz is really good at planning and working with youngsters, but he lacks other skills needed to succeed as a manager.

The team is playing mediocre football. Even if Scolari was and guess still is tactically inept, at least back then we were playing entertaining attacking football, one was actually looking forward to watch the match, regardless of the scoreline, now most of our matches are so boring to watch..
