View Full Version : FIFA LOOKS AWESOME
Atiom 31-10-2000, 02:55:PM but plays like crap,
- the powerbar is useless you cant shoot low without having to aim back and they are still using the arrow for freekicks.
- Physics are crap, the players still cant make 360 turns and not lose speed.
- Due to physics you can just dribble by cuting left/right like real FOOTBALL you have to use stupid moves everytime.
- Through ball still a joke, not deep enough.
- Referee is a bit better but not enough
- Theres no DEFENCE, the only way EA is able to reduce the number of goals is with their unrealistic SUPERMAN GOALIE. That every year they promise to fix but they never do.
To all the folks that disagree just go out and try another FOOTBALL GAME, one for the PSX thats very good http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif then you see how a powerbar should work and hold a through bal should be
Atiom:
i think in some way, Atiom is write about fifa 2001. but fifa 2001 is much better than fifa2k and iss.
i still enjoy fifa 2001 demo and i think it is the best out there. it only needs to improve some game play and the referee strinctness, other wise it is the best out there.
1) gameplay
-----------
the problem at the game play is that the midfield should help the forward players, i mean they need to open up and run to open spaces, same as with the diffence, for example roberto carlos making a run through the wing and actually crossing the ball to the goal area.
2) referee strinctness
----------------------
probably you guys may have noticed it that the refs barely calls the falls. so that needs to be improved.
other than that the game is beautiful.
atiom have said that you can't make a low shot, well i did alot of low shots, and the power bar is usefull. i also hit alot of the cross bars from the shots i took from 20-30 meters away. i love the way the ball goas like a bullet like in real life situation.
i forgot to include this:
Also the speed of the players needs to be reduced. i mean they are very fast and they never get tired by sprinting all the way to the goal line. there should be a power bar for sprinting it self as there is one for shooting. as soon as the sprinting power bar goes low then the player won't be able to make thoes ben johnsen sprints all the time.
spaceface2000 31-10-2000, 05:32:PM ALL I CAN SAY IS SHUT THE FU C K UP U CRYING B A S TARDS THIS GAME IS SUPERB WHAT DO U EXPECT IF U WANNA PLAY REAL FOOTBALL GET OUTSIDE AND PLAY IT
THIS NOT REAL U WAN KERS
ITS A DAMN VIDEO GAME DO ONE U TWATS
Atiom 31-10-2000, 05:39:PM hehe are you mad xiteface http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
come on is just a game and thats my opinion about if you disagree fine by me, no need to shout like a little girl http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
And I still get cant it what they have done to the powerbar, I think its just more hype like better A, things that we never get in the end.
Well maybe next year they will get the powerbar right, along with defence AI, referee AI and ball physics.
Did anyone read ISREAL post it totaly shows how the ball physics is crap, you always have the same ball bounce and ball roll
Ryan Giggs 31-10-2000, 07:12:PM your right, FIFA 2001 is rubbish, the graphics are brilliant, but gameplay is a pile of poo, if we want to see great looking graphics, we can do better still and watch real football on tv, if we are playing a game its the gameplay that matters foremost.
We dicerning footy fans who all think FIFA 2001 is hopeless need to vote with our feet and NOT buy the crappy game, then with lowers sales EA may realisze the only thing that really matters to them - money, is being lost and may even try to make a completely new football game one day, I reccomend trying UEFA 2001 that is out soon, it may be a refreshing change from FIFA.
------------------
All the best,
Giggsy
Atiom 31-10-2000, 10:39:PM I guess you are right about that polish, that must be the roll value x the speed or something like that
But still the ball physics seems a bit weird to me
sabaho 31-10-2000, 10:52:PM polish..but the VELOCITY changes..from case to case..and therefore...things have to change
u have to know how they apply these coeffs exactly..there's many ways to define them
so?
p.s.just bragging abt my b.s. knowledge
as that's what i study! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
thejuk2001 31-10-2000, 11:07:PM let's not forget that this is the DEMO version not the full game.
i meen thos option can be change in the full game!!! let's try the full game then we can say this and tht !!! :-)
Check out www.fifa2002.gq.nu (http://www.fifa2002.gq.nu) add post on the message board what improvements you want to see in the next FIFA. there is already a huge list of possible improvements, it's worth checking out.
Sterio 01-11-2000, 03:25:AM EA have to get rid of these special moves and try to actually watch a player dribble by cutting the ball left or right. when the player runs with the ball he's actually pushing the ball in front of him and he then might have to push the ball past an opposing player with speed? If there are too many opposing players, WELL he'll have to pass the ball off to someone else who may be in the clear.
the 360 spin will make winning games very easy even in "world class" mode
It was easy in fifa99 and even easier to win games in fifa2000 in "world class"
EA must redesign the dribbling engine if they are to capture the magic of "total football"
PolishPower 01-11-2000, 06:06:AM Atiom, you might have it wrong as far as ball bounce and roll coefficient.
I think ball bounce coefficient has to be a set value and not a variable, that is just laws of physics. Think of it this way, a ball dropped from one meter on solid surface with no additional force applied(only gravity) will always bounce up to let say 80 centimeters(I dont know the actual figure). I do know that FIFA(the real organization, not the game ) has a regulation abount uniformity of ball physics. Im guessing that the actual height of the ball bounce will be determined by the velocity of the ball multiplied by the coefficient, plus some sort of calculation on the angle the ball strikes the ground.

PolishPower 01-11-2000, 05:07:PM Yes of course the velocity will change according to the forces acting on the object, so you have to take into account gravity, and friction with air. Accurate model would also take into consideration wind conditions, atmospheric pressure, the spin on the ball, etc.
BTW I think that post by Israel on changing some of the settings is brilliant, although I havent tried it(dont have the game) it just might be the most useful/important mod for FIFA ever!
iceboy83 01-11-2000, 05:45:PM To f:
The speed of the demo seems very fast, but there is "slower" option and once you use "slower" option with "tower" view... you can realli play the game better, isn't that great?
By the way, the other view in the demo is called the action view ...
Click on this link here to see the tower view: http://sg.geocities.com/iceboy83/tower.jpg
.....and say FIFA LOOK AWESOME! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
**i remember someone requested tottenham screenshot, dunno who... anyway... here it is: http://sg.geocities.com/iceboy83/tottenham.JPG
