Daniel David 21-06-2010, 01:29:AM 21 June 2010
13:30 - Portugal v Korea DPR : 3-5 ()
16:00 - Chile v Switzerland : 2-1 (offensive football to strike back)
20:30 - Spain v Honduras : 4-0 (Spain must show what they really came for)
night 21-06-2010, 01:49:AM Lol when North Korea scored their goal against Brazil, the whole place where I was watching the match was cheering like they've won the world cup. Hilarious stuff :D
Anyway,
13:30 - Portugal v Korea DPR : 3-2
16:00 - Chile v Switzerland : 3-1
20:30 - Spain v Honduras : 4-0
(And I just realized that my predictions in the WC predictions thread and this one are different)
rony31 21-06-2010, 04:47:AM Portugal 1-0 North Korea
Chile 1-0 Switzerland
Spain 3-0 Honduras
Sevillista 21-06-2010, 05:11:AM I think Spain might play Jesus Navas and Torres in place of Iniesta and Busquets.
------------Casillas--------------
Ramos--Puyol---Pique--Capdevila
------------Alonso---------------
Navas-------Xavi----------Silva
--------Torres----Villa-----------
Portugal 4 - 0 North Korea
Chile 0 - 0 Switzerland
Spain 2 - 0 Honduras
13:30 - Portugal v Korea DPR : 2-0
16:00 - Chile v Switzerland : 2-1
20:30 - Spain v Honduras : 2-0
mrromaniac 21-06-2010, 11:05:AM Got to say I was really happy too for the goal of North Korea. Hope they'll put up a great performance today.
looks like it's gonna be an exciting day. hoping for some quality football. :coffe-anim:
Recrero152 21-06-2010, 01:02:PM That was the worst offside call I've ever seen. The ref must be blind...
gasper000 21-06-2010, 01:08:PM 13:30 - Portugal v Korea DPR : 2-0
16:00 - Chile v Switzerland : 0-0
20:30 - Spain v Honduras : 4-0
KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 01:10:PM Liverly match so far....so glad the games have picked up in intensity and quality here lately...very nice to see
::shinji:: 21-06-2010, 01:21:PM 1-0 at the half, far from over.
I think the loss of Nani is really starting to show. His penetrating runs would have helped a lot, especially now since Ronaldo is basically contributing nothing to the team right now.
KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 01:27:PM I agree he has been utter ****e.....I hope he pulls his head out his ass already..He's actually kind of sorry right now
Coruja 21-06-2010, 01:29:PM I get suprised when i see some predictions about a difficult win against North Korea.
B9Goal 21-06-2010, 01:37:PM Did anyone else notice that Ronaldo did not celebrate with his compatriots after Raul Meireles scored?
Recrero152 21-06-2010, 01:39:PM Did anyone else notice that Ronaldo did not celebrate with his compatriots after Raul Meireles scored?
He never cares for the team he's playing on. As long as he gets the success he wants, he'll be pleased.
Zlatan 21-06-2010, 01:47:PM I feel sorry for North Korea. They played very brave today, not choosing to only defend but also try to attack and immediatly they get punished for it by Portugal.
KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 01:53:PM Viva offfensive footy!!! :D
fender 21-06-2010, 01:54:PM The fairytale comes crashing down
Krypton X 21-06-2010, 01:56:PM What happened? I decided to watch this on North Korean TV, but this is all I can see after Portugal scored the 2nd goal.

KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 02:14:PM You know what I am positive they did pull the plug they've done it before
KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 02:14:PM hey look its some goals :O
Thats not fair, goals have been pretty steady since the second round of games started...a nice average...but yes it is nice to see 5-0
KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 02:17:PM damn what a massacre
gasper000 21-06-2010, 02:20:PM lol
Portugal 7-0 North Korea
Never expected that
Recrero152 21-06-2010, 02:20:PM No chance for Ivory Coast now. The African spirit is getting more and more suffocated...
gasper000 21-06-2010, 02:28:PM No chance for Ivory Coast now.
IT'S OVER FOR IVORY COAST
Now the last group match between Brazil & Portugal will determine which team will lead the group.
It's a shame all African teams are out except Nigeria who still have a chance.

I know it was just a game, but seeing some of you talking about difficultys against North Korea was just suprising.
::shinji:: 21-06-2010, 02:36:PM well, I'm a Portugal fan too, but to be fair we didn't show anything in that first game (or during all of qualifying, for that matter) that would indicate a performance like we had today. has nothing to do with hating..
fender 21-06-2010, 02:38:PM What a demolition job
Coruja 21-06-2010, 02:51:PM well, I'm a Portugal fan too, but to be fair we didn't show anything in that first game (or during all of qualifying, for that matter) that would indicate a performance like we had today. has nothing to do with hating..
I wasnt talking about that kind of expectations, so dont worry.
CIV against Portugal, played with all of 11 men in his field (and with Brazil they did a more offensive football), they only did counters, and besides that Queiroz put some of the players that are in a very bad shape (Deco, Liedson, Paulo Ferreira...) and 433 formation isnt the best for us, 442 does a really better job. The solution for this bad perfomances of Portugal was that and some improvement in the confidence. Im saying that but we can lost against Brasil, after all it was North Korea the ones we played.
Glad to see this victory, hope some improvement in our confidence.
FORÇA PORTUGAL
Tiago_10 21-06-2010, 02:58:PM Wow, this is the biggest goal difference I've ever seen in a World Cup. Even if it is North Korea.
What happened is that North Korea at some point tried to play as our equal, counter-attacking right after and they simply don't have the quality for it.
Nonetheless cheers for the attacking football instead of the catenaccio we'd be expecting.
It's definitely important for the players' confidence for the next match. However, let's not get carried away here, it's just NK and Queer Arse is still the manager.
XandeAlves2000 21-06-2010, 03:03:PM IT'S OVER FOR IVORY COAST

KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 03:13:PM CHILE!!!! Love their style and hate the style of the Swiss...very negative they are
Coruja 21-06-2010, 03:24:PM Imagine that Chile win today and Spain too.
Then Swiss win against Honduras and Spain win against Chile.
All of them get 6 points.
Honduras would be the decisive match.

all tie with 4 points each
gasper000 21-06-2010, 03:31:PM red card for Behrami
Coruja 21-06-2010, 03:36:PM I dont know if you guys noticed. But in Portugal game, the ones with vuvuzelas tried to do some sound with rythme.
gasper000 21-06-2010, 03:40:PM the swiss GK is one of the best in the tournament .. really good
rony31 21-06-2010, 04:02:PM Wow, this is the biggest goal difference I've ever seen in a World Cup. Even if it is North Korea.
iBtiatLDDsc
But ya, definitely a shocker anytime a team wins 7-0, especially with the way N.Korea defended against Brazil. Ronaldo's such a class act. I hope he gets a studs-up challenge to the face.
fender 21-06-2010, 04:21:PM The ref is a nutter 60mins 10 yellow cards.
gasper000 21-06-2010, 04:33:PM Chile 1-0 Switzerland
Finally the goal! Chile deserved it.

Just like Brazil had, and every other good team had against lesser teams playing defense. Also, your performance against Cote D'Ivoire was far from encouraging and a result of 1-0 or 2-0 in favour of Portugal today wouldnt be a surprise, and to tell you the truth, i'm still skeptical about this portuguese squad.
Would love if Switzerland got eliminated in the group phase, even if it means Brazil facing Spain on the Round of 16.
KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 04:50:PM Chile got a huge problem scoring, they create chances like the best of them but cant put nothing away.....great to see the swiss get eliminated their football style sucks

Me too.
I think its a fact the way that football supporter's are treating Portugal (not only in this forum), when there're teams in this WC way worse who are hyped.
smf_fede 21-06-2010, 04:59:PM I'm happy for Bielsa, great coach, he had improved by far Chile's play, and with this victory southamerican national teams had won 26 of 30 points, keep up! this WC surely goes to southamerica.
MaSsiVe 21-06-2010, 05:16:PM GEWT THYE **** IN!

pORTUGAL! (H)
yoyo913 21-06-2010, 05:27:PM That ref in the Chile match was really bad.
mrromaniac 21-06-2010, 05:48:PM ^Yeah. Even Maillet (SEY) is better.
Good match for Chile. They're my new favorites.
STML1 21-06-2010, 06:18:PM Figures I sleep in today and I miss good games it seems.
ShAnDo 21-06-2010, 06:42:PM We almost got robbed today, that ref was giving away free-kicks to Switzerland, litterally. Once again we could have won 2-0 or 3-0 but we couldn't take our chances.
Chile has been one the best team of the Cup so far, I just hope we can keep it up.
Tiago_10 21-06-2010, 06:59:PM Did anyone else notice that Ronaldo did not celebrate with his compatriots after Raul Meireles scored?
He never cares for the team he's playing on. As long as he gets the success he wants, he'll be pleased.
Actually after the match Ronaldo gave the FIFA Man of the Match award to teammate Tiago, who he considered to be the best player today.
Coruja 21-06-2010, 07:02:PM He was frustated with himself. That's why he didnt celebrate. ( But he should have get over it and celebrate with his team)
Arnau 21-06-2010, 08:20:PM illa! illa! illa! Villa maravilla! (H)
Torres's hatin' jabulani.
What the hell, Del Bosque? As a Madridista I had immense respect for the old walrus, but I'm really not so sure any more. In a group that can easily be decided by goal difference, you leave on the frankly poor Jesus Navas, and bring in Mata for Torres who looked like he was building towards a goal, and take Ramos and Xavi off? Cesc coming in is all very well, but what the hell was Busquets still on for? Terrified of bloody Honduras "terorrising" our defense or what?
I think this is the angriest I've ever been about a 2-0 win :P. But bah... and Villa ruins an exceptional performance he could have beautifully sealed with a hat-trick. This will not do, the second half was a repeat of Switzerland. These aren't World Champions in the making, unless they change and quickly. What a slew of stupidly wasted chances... if they're knocked out by a huge Swiss win over Honduras (yes, I know, unlikely), well, they had it bloody coming...
Phew. That's my two rand.
EDIT: Ok, so maybe it's physically impossible that they are knocked out on goal difference, but the thought still stands :P (Logically, beating Chile even 1-0 would boost Spain's to +2 and reduce Chile's to +1), but if the Swiss run riot against Honduras (ok, so again, unlikely), they might meet Brazil in the second round. So there. Sort of..
Arnau 21-06-2010, 09:42:PM Busquets played awesome. Important thing its create the chances, if they enter or not its eventual.
Run DMB 21-06-2010, 09:44:PM Did the Spanish players even break a sweat? It looked like they were scrimmaging. Honduras have managed one shot on target so far in the tournament. Oh, CONCACAF. :( At least they didn't lose 7-0.
Arnau 21-06-2010, 09:48:PM Did the Spanish players even break a sweat?
They looked like exausted in the last minutes...
Ulysses 21-06-2010, 09:50:PM if Spain will not qualify that day football dies
MaestroZidane 21-06-2010, 10:19:PM if Spain will not qualify that day football dies
Right, because they are the best team in the world. Argentina or Brazil have nothing on them...
Coruja 21-06-2010, 10:43:PM Right, because they are the best team in the world. Argentina or Brazil have nothing on them...
In this 2 games Brazil wasnt nothing so great.
KingPaulV 21-06-2010, 10:49:PM Brazil was effective, IMO they played at 70% both matches and won conftably
Coruja 21-06-2010, 10:55:PM Im not saying this because they're in our group, but they werent what i expected. Certainly they were effective, but with other kind of teams their mistakes will kill them.
Ulysses 21-06-2010, 11:18:PM Right, because they are the best team in the world. Argentina or Brazil have nothing on them...
Argentina and Brazil play good but Spain is a team born in a hundred years, the way they pass the ball is unreal and not only this but they are examples also outside the pitch which is not the case of the majority of other big football nations.
Arnau 22-06-2010, 04:05:AM Spain didn't shine yet in the world cup.
night 22-06-2010, 04:24:AM Nah.. I think they're sort of back to their old days of underachieving..
Sevillista 22-06-2010, 05:00:AM Nah.. I think they're sort of back to their old days of underachieving..
That's a pretty harsh conclusion from one loss.
I'm surprised nobody is talking about Villa's goal. It's the goal of the tournament so far and could very well stay that way.
Help? 22-06-2010, 04:58:PM What happens if Switzerland beat Honduras 2-0 and Spain beat Chile 1-0?
Spain will have 6 points +2 GD and 3 goals scored
Chile will have 6 points +2 GD and 3 goals scored
Switzerland will have 6 points +2 GD and 3 goals scored
Spain beat Chile, but Swiss beat Spain and Chile beat Swiss
Recrero152 22-06-2010, 05:01:PM What happens if Switzerland beat Honduras 2-0 and Spain beat Chile 1-0?

Help? 22-06-2010, 05:07:PM Coin toss for 1st and 2nd spots?

I really hope Switzerland does no better than winning by one goal and Spain defeats Chile by exactly one goal...
What happens if Switzerland beat Honduras 2-0 and Spain beat Chile 1-0?
Spain will have 6 points +2 GD and 3 goals scored
Chile will have 6 points +2 GD and 3 goals scored
Switzerland will have 6 points +2 GD and 3 goals scored
Spain beat Chile, but Swiss beat Spain and Chile beat Swiss
That's wrong, isn't it? If Spain beats Chile 1-0 (and the Swiss win 2-0), Chile will be down to +1 GD, and so Spain and Switzerland go through; I don't think that three-way-tie situation is feasible in the group any more. But then would they toss coins to see who progresses as first and who as second?
And if the Swiss also win only 1-0 in that same scenario, then a coin-toss for second place between them and Chile? And, slightly more unlikely, if the Swiss lose, say, 2-1, and Spain lose 2-0, then they'd both be level on 3 pts/-1 GD/2 GF, hence another toss-off (so to speak)?
Lots of tossing possibilties...
KingPaulV 22-06-2010, 05:32:PM I think after the goal differential they go to head to head in which case Swiss would have the advantage over Spain and would lose to Chile.
Oh yes, I forgot about the head to head... So 2-0 to Swiss, 1-0 to Spain would see the Spanish go through second and the Swiss first... it was only a headache if it was a three-way tie, which would the toss, well, a little confusing to say the least. But I don't think it's actually possile for that to happen now.
Help? 22-06-2010, 05:49:PM You are right, I thought Chile beat Honduras 2-0
