thats the problem in serbia, i am a fan of Red Star, butt i am glad when Partizan make good results in europe because that's the team from my country and of course i will support them against others countries clubs... butt, in domestic league i wish all the worst for Partizan! that's the difference betwen me and nikolapfc89, he want's all the worst for Red Star in ALL tournaments where they play and that's one of the many reasons why fottball in serbia is dying from year to year...

Fair draw for the Ukrainian clubs. It's Tavriya's first appearance in modern Euro-cup and they got a very big challenge. Depending on how Bayer L. will play (like first half of 09/10 or second). However, even if they play poorly I still leave Tavriya a very little chance. They got into Europa League because of a victory in a domestic cup, didn't really show an exceptional gameplay there nor doing very well in the league.
Dnipro hopefully will go through with a minimal victory.

Unfortunately even this year Slovenia won't have a club in the european competitions. I feel bad for Maribor they've played very well the second game against Palermo with their 3:2 win. Hope they get better next year and after12 years we'll have once again a slovenian club in the european competition.

it is a tough draw for us in the end considering the other possibilities, but the way we've been playing is enough to make me confident we can beat any of the teams left in the competiton.

We are just incapable of winning matches, no matter how well we play. It's as frustrating as it is predictable. By all accounts we outplayed Porto, but we wasted our chances, and Porto took their ridiculous ones.... Porto's 0-1 was offsides, but Kanoute's 1-1 was probably an offensive foul.

Yep, Kanoute's was a foul. Take those two away and you come into the second leg with one away goal, and we might have had extra time instead of deciding things on away goals. Purely speculative, though, and I'm not going to say Porto didn't deserve to go through. Just saying Sevilla were not outplayed, not even in the second leg. If those players you mention had been sent of, maybe they would have, but Sevilla gave Porto a scare in a match that seemed very much out of reach.

I am most impressed with our defense and goalkeeper, Javi Varas. This is only the second time all season we've gone two matches in a row without conceding a goal. I hope Palop stays on the bench now, Varas' time has come.

Yes, Porto created many chances, but that was because we were in catch-up mode all match and played most of the second half with three, and then two defenders . It doesn't speak to your credit that Porto squandered so many opportunities. Regardless, scoring a goal would not have finished the tie up, it would have just meant ET if Sevilla scored again, which we were very close to doing a few times in the last 15 min. Porto were arguably the better side tonight... all I meant was that it was not by a significant margin. Fili made it sound like we played poorly, but I think we did well considering we needed two away goals against a strong opponent.

Anyways, it was a fun matchup and a small part of me is happy that we can focus on the league now and hopefully build some confidence from our performance.

And maybe higher-ups will realize what a turd Alexis is and get rid of him...

Spain is also in the top coefficient whereas Portugal isn't. Any success Portuguese teams achieve will help the country as a whole, whereas Spanish teams would have to bomb in consecutive years to be affected.

Yeah that's another reason, but the fact that we want a higher coefficient is because that will allow more teams to get in Europe so we can root for them as well :D
