View Full Version : The Man City Thread [10/11] rony31 14-08-2010, 07:14:AM Figured I might as well start this 5 and a half hours from the kick-off of the new season. Champions League or bust this season. It's gonna be a rough couple of months until we offload a bunch of players. rony31 16-08-2010, 11:43:PM http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11679_6316315,00.html After all he did for us last season, he simply deserves better than this. Mancini's treating him like a ******* dog for crying out loud. Too much unrest in the dressing room, ******* Italian better sort his **** out by the end of the month. Nimreitz 17-08-2010, 01:36:AM I'm not sure Mancini is the right man for this job. Filipower 17-08-2010, 02:49:AM Which bears no surprise whatsoever. Nady 17-08-2010, 03:23:AM Cardiff? Seriously? :| Mancini should get rid of Robinho instead of Bellamy. I'd be interested to see who's next to go out. Ireland maybe? You guys definitely have to trim down your squad. rony31 17-08-2010, 04:52:AM Just read a rumour that Robinho could be on his way to Barca if they can offload Ibrahimovic's wages... which, surprise surprise, only City would be dumb/rich enough to take on. rony31 17-08-2010, 04:04:PM Bellamy going on loan to Cardiff. Milner in by tomorrow with Ireland going the other way. Balotelli presented today, gonna wear #45. Nimreitz 17-08-2010, 05:54:PM Just read a rumour that Robinho could be on his way to Barca if they can offload Ibrahimovic's wages... which, surprise surprise, only City would be dumb/rich enough to take on. Ibra would never go to City. Arnau 19-08-2010, 04:54:AM http://content.mcfc.co.uk/%7E/media/Images/Home/News/Players/1011%20season%20first%20team/Milner/milnersigning1.ashx?mh=450&mw=800 38 players, i guess you use both locker rooms: home and away. rony31 19-08-2010, 06:41:AM Badum tiss (H) rony31 19-08-2010, 06:49:AM http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/blog/sow_experts/post/Cardiff-club-shop-runs-out-of-Y-s-and-9-s-s?urn=sow-263457 Hahahahahahahahahaha! Nimreitz 19-08-2010, 07:12:PM Excited to see the game in 30 minutes. Mus 20-08-2010, 03:16:AM balotelli (H) Nimreitz 20-08-2010, 04:19:AM City looked like dog**** today. rony31 20-08-2010, 04:52:AM That's Mancini's style, always has been. 3 DMs, maintain at least 60% possession every game, hope for a goal and walk away with a 1-0. All while our attackers watch from the bench. He didn't even name Silva for this fixture... Nady 25-08-2010, 08:49:AM Why the hell is Silva not playing? Mus 25-08-2010, 09:26:AM because he has the strength of a 3 year old MaestroZidane 04-09-2010, 05:45:PM So Shay Given has to fight for his place now?? He is one of the best keepers in the world FFS. rony31 06-09-2010, 06:55:AM Such is our depth. MaSsiVe 06-09-2010, 02:28:PM watching Given warm the bench is gonna be weird as ****... IMHO he'd be a starter in basically every top EPL team, but of course Mancini doesn't think so...which is something that doesn't really surprise me considering the stupid **** that he is. I'd like to see Shay back with The Toon :) rony31 06-09-2010, 03:34:PM I was disappointed when I saw Given sign with us in the first place. I really liked Hart back then and when Given signed a 4-year deal, I immediately thought "Joe doesn't need THAT much time on the bench". Shay will be loaned out or leave in January for sure, which is the most viable option. The whole "stay and fight for my place" thing doesn't work well with keepers. silvone 10-09-2010, 07:07:AM Why the hell is Silva not playing? Imagine what it would be if City will play SWP and Silva in the same starting eleven? SWP is 1.66 and Silva 1.69. Disaster! In my opinion ,City made a bad choice with Silva. Nimreitz 10-09-2010, 05:37:PM SWP sucks, so he won't be playing. Arnau 10-09-2010, 05:42:PM Its Football not Basketball, who cares about the height. Nady 10-09-2010, 08:34:PM Lennon is 1m65, Scholes is 1m70. Both good players. Height makes a difference but if you're strong or fast, that compensates for it. Nimreitz 10-09-2010, 08:54:PM Height matters. Everything matters. silvone 11-09-2010, 05:56:AM Its Football not Basketball, who cares about the height. You can't compare Silva with Xavi or Iniesta...... And agree Nady, but just if you're strong and fast...Silva is neighter strong nor fast Nady 11-09-2010, 07:05:AM Yeah the only way he can survive the EPL is playing wide. He'll suffocate in the centre. He's a player who needs space. I think he's quite fast but not super-fast like Walcott or Lennon. rony31 11-09-2010, 05:05:PM Christopher ******* Samba played like he was worth City's entire ******* squad value. ****in hell, cant catch a ******* break. Arnau 11-09-2010, 08:21:PM You can't compare Silva with Xavi or Iniesta...... And agree Nady, but just if you're strong and fast...Silva is neighter strong nor fast Silva its very fast. MaestroZidane 12-09-2010, 07:50:AM Shay Given wouldn't have made that mistake that led to the first goal... But whatever, stick with Hart Samba... what a monster of a defender!! banok 25-09-2010, 04:20:PM Manchester City - Chelsea 1-0 ::: video http://videa.hu/videok/sport/manchester-city-chelsea-1-0-angol-foci-league-nZR47Ct01P9TD4QO rony31 26-09-2010, 05:02:PM That was the defensive performance of a lifetime. Seeing Silva charging back and making tackles makes me feel good about his chances in England. creativemantra 08-10-2010, 01:03:PM Of al lthe rumours why do city keep going after forwards so much when they have such a long list of forwards ? its insane.. i mean aint you fans feeling that its becoming more of fantasy football..even more than the roman chelsea ? rony31 11-10-2010, 12:42:AM Things are not well, boys and girls... Tevez dropping more retirement hints at the age of 26, DeJong being widely condemned for his leg-breaking tackle against Ben Arfa, AJ starting to speak out about not getting any starts despite being one of our best performers this season... Things are not well at all, despite the fact that we're in 2nd place. Nady 11-10-2010, 04:26:AM How do you City fans feel about Tevez being captain? He can't even speak English LOL. Thats ridiculous. creativemantra 11-10-2010, 08:18:AM ya and the worst part is he whines already at the age of 26 of quitting football.. talk about being sporty.... with all the immense talent and class he has, this caveman can really be a pain in the arse at times rony31 11-10-2010, 06:48:PM It seems to be working, he's now motivated to learn to speak English at least. That and he sets a good example, tireless worker and not afraid to speak his mind against Mancini's negative tactics (even if it was a half-time argument)... I think that City played a good match but if lech scored a 1-1 goal, match would be more intresting. Elber2k3 04-11-2010, 09:14:PM pFrCyqwwRYQ Come on... against Posen? Ah well, I think the reason they won is because they fired Wichniarek. Nimreitz 05-11-2010, 06:32:PM Those voices are just wrong. Recrero152 13-11-2010, 11:51:PM Only a draw against Birmingham at home today. Nimreitz 09-07-2011, 09:44:AM ...and we now have the most blatant attempt to skirt Financial Fair Play rules. Nady 09-07-2011, 02:24:PM Man C*ty's team is full of spoilt kids. Juventino 25-07-2011, 05:10:AM L3jrckqsJxE Lol. Balotelli is such an unbelievable prick. I pity Mancini for having to manage this guy. It's not just this, it's structural! How many times has he been disciplined last season, and how many times have he heard bad stories during his time at Inter? All this supposed potential of Balotelli will never be realized with his personality. I wonder where he'll be in a few years. Pathetic player. Xifio 25-07-2011, 06:59:AM ^ yeah posted that in the Rumours Section coz I wouldn't mind seeing Milan capitalize on the incident: ixsTNcS21uM&hd=1 watchu waitin for, Galliani? :Devil:I know the kid has issues, but it was an exhibition, not a Champions League knockout ... personally, I find it funny that it got such a universally serious reaction ... I mean, what if he had scored that? Nimreitz 25-07-2011, 09:56:AM It's a preseason friendly, who gives a ****? Classic overreaction by the media and it seems Mancini. Balotelli is a total dickwad and his head looks likely to stifle his career, but this doesn't mean anything. Waldo1639 25-07-2011, 12:54:PM Yes, it is preseason friendly match, but knowing him he could easily do this kind of "exhibition" in league match. Such talented player, and I kind of like him, but for money he earns he should have more respect for his team and team he plays against, no matter is it friendly or league/cup. Every coach would be pissed for that kind of behaving. Arnau 25-07-2011, 05:00:PM He's just frustrated because he's the only black Italian in the world. How many times has he been disciplined last season, and how many times have he heard bad stories during his time at Inter? All this supposed potential of Balotelli will never be realized with his personality. I wonder where he'll be in a few years. Pathetic player. Why would you pity Mancini? HE bought him himself. He decided to buy trouble himself so its his fault if he has this kind of players. Why the hell would any player want to join a team with this kind of players? City has no culture, no passion, they are just a bunch of rich spoilt kids. EDIT: its not the failed trick shot that is disgraceful. Its the way he stomped off Mancini for being subbed off in a FRIENDLY game. He has no respect at all for his manager. kp40 31-07-2011, 11:46:AM I agree, it was a friendly game and I think he thought he was in offside. Mancini acted very immature, It badly ruined his young player’s character. I never saw something like this. virtual_razvan 01-08-2011, 07:33:AM Who is this cheap clone of Balotelli which didn't celebrate the goal against Inter? Very surprising. Xifio 01-08-2011, 07:45:AM uh, are you serious? coz Mario almost never celebrates his goals ... applauding the fans was actually quite a lot coming from him after scoring ... virtual_razvan 01-08-2011, 07:50:AM I expected to celebrate against Inter because I thought he's a Milan fan. Xifio 01-08-2011, 04:30:PM he's also an ex-Interista, with lots of friends amongst his former teammates ... no reason to get himself antagonized over a goal in a friendly ... virtual_razvan 01-08-2011, 05:04:PM If so, nice change in Balotelli's atitude. He have got antagonized alot. Xifio 01-08-2011, 05:14:PM no worries, he'll get his chance after he moves to Milan  ... Honestly though, he is not even match fit, they should not have signed him. I guess all those workout vids he posted on YouTube worked, hah. As for Balotelli, well... late puberty maybe? MaSsiVe 19-09-2011, 04:02:PM Mancini: City need more players Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini insists he is still short of players despite splashing out a whopping £210 million since taking charge of the English Premier League club. City failed to protect a 2-0 lead on Sunday and were pegged back to 2-2 by Fulham at Craven Cottage. Two goals inside 46 minutes from Sergio Aguero appeared to have given the visitors a comfortable lead, but Fulham recovered to claim a point thanks to goals from Bobby Zamora and Danny Murphy in the second half. The result meant City lost their 100 per cent domestic record this season and fell two points behind Manchester United at the head of the table. Mancini claims he was short on options to freshen up the side, despite overseeing a major spending programme over the last 18 months at Eastlands. He complained that injuries to James Milner and Nigel de Jong had weakened his squad in the key midfield area as he attempts to juggle the demands of competing in the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League. He made just two changes following the midweek 1-1 draw with Napoli and said: "I don't have players at this moment, I can only change the full-backs or the strikers. http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/clubfootball/news/newsid=1512757.html Azrael 19-09-2011, 04:55:PM Vieira's retirement ****ed him. poet11 20-09-2011, 02:39:AM Can't believe he said that. He arguably has the best squad in the league. Maybe needs one more cb. He is asking for the transfer window to be re-opened because he drew at Fulham.....WOW. Managing Citeh must be like FM. rony31 20-09-2011, 08:14:PM I'm gone for nearly a year and the only people I see posting in this thread are United fans. A bit antsy, are we scum? (H) Oh, and Mancini's comments about "not having enough players" was clearly lost on everybody. He meant he couldn't make the appropriate changes IN MIDFIELD because Milner and DeJong are injured and Hargreaves is Hargreaves and hasn't been match fit for 9 years. Nimreitz 21-09-2011, 07:33:AM Back when he was winning the Champions League. kp40 21-09-2011, 10:04:PM Hargreaves played and scored!!!!!! Arnau 21-09-2011, 11:03:PM Hargreaves > Carrick & Fletcher. Aguero getting the assist was lucky because it was tough to score from there. Oh and Aguero is like me playing PES. Nimreitz 28-09-2011, 09:58:AM I'm not saying I agree with Tevez, but if he was pissed about De Jong going on for Dzeko instead of him, then I can understand why he would be upset. Because I was sitting next to a City fan and he was disgusted with that substitution while I just laughed at the idiocy. "I just wanted to calm it down for a few minutes"... ugh, typical Italian. The game was as calm as it was going to get. Bayern hadn't scored in 20 minutes, and time was ticking. The way Aguero and Dzeko were playing, Tevez should have been on at halftime, not in the 70th minute like Mancini was thinking. Filipower 28-09-2011, 12:16:PM Wow, refreshing to know Vitor Pereira isn't the only jackass allowed to make substitutions out there. kp40 28-09-2011, 03:16:PM http://i54.tinypic.com/biqz4h.jpg lool ;) Pizarro14 28-09-2011, 05:42:PM I mean Tevez was brought to sit the bench or start? thats simply how he feels. Balotelli 'sets fire to house with firework' The Italian striker, who has a history of self-inflicted problems, was letting off fireworks in his bathroom with friends which then led to "a substantial fire" according to a report in the Guardian. Balotelli is alleged to have told the club that he was letting off the fireworks out a window, when one of them caused a towel to catch fire which then quickly spread. Balotelli is believed to have claimed that one of his friends let off the incriminating firework while at one point he is said to have run back inside the burning house to recover a quantity of money and a suitcase. The Guardian quotes the fire service as saying: "Four breathing apparatus and two hose reel water jets were used to deal with the fire and a large fan was used to clear the smoke from the property. "Crews managed to put the fire out within half an hour of arriving but remained at the scene until 2.45 am to prevent any possible flare-ups. Smoke alarms were fitted at the property and the occupiers were able to get out unharmed. The fire was caused by a firework." A police spokesman added: "Police provided assistance to Cheshire fire and rescue service as well as ensuring residents were accounted for and there was no danger to surrounding properties. At this time, the cause of the fire is being examined by fire investigators and the police. Coruja 23-10-2011, 05:23:PM Why always me? coxlenox 25-10-2011, 12:42:PM amazing game 1 X 6 Pizarro14 29-10-2011, 04:50:PM Must say Johnson with that long shot was a beauty!!!! rony31 31-10-2011, 04:36:AM Johnson's been outstanding when called upon this season but he must have banged Mancini's daughter or something because the boss just wont cave in and praise the guy. He can score 3 and assist 3 in one game and Mancini will still say "I think he can do more". I really hope he isn't driven to leave because of it, he's an absolute gem. yoyo913 31-10-2011, 05:44:AM Ferguson would love him so much. rony31 01-11-2011, 05:57:AM Of course he would, he's a winger. Sevillista 08-11-2011, 08:09:PM The Bugle, a podcast by John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman, had a great segment on Mario Balotelli and the crazy sh*t he's done. CLUUk6ZX64c Nimreitz 08-11-2011, 08:11:PM Ohhhh fantastic! Heard Oliver's appearance on the Men in Blazers podcast a week or two ago and he was good. Nimreitz 14-11-2011, 06:48:PM You stay away from Marco Reus! Arnau 12-12-2011, 11:40:PM Nasri (Manchester City): "Our model is Barcelona and the way they press really high. It's the way we want to play." [via telegraph] Barcelona would never be satisfied with a draw and their coach would never substitute Kun and Silva for Koló and De Jong to defend the score, we would keep pressing and trying to control the game. Coruja 12-12-2011, 11:54:PM Nasri (Manchester City): "Our model is Barcelona and the way they press really high. It's the way we want to play." [via telegraph] Barcelona would never be satisfied with a draw and their coach would never substitute Kun and Silva for Koló and De Jong to defend the score, we would keep pressing and trying to control the game. ^this City has the capacity to control the game, why trying to hold the result, its just insane. Jaboldinho 13-12-2011, 10:21:AM To their defense, they were a man down. Coruja 13-12-2011, 09:56:PM Pussys 1966+2006 17-12-2011, 09:46:AM Is Nasri underperforming? Nimreitz 17-12-2011, 10:52:AM In the sense that he's not actually playing/performing often because of the rotation policy, then yes. Otherwise he's actually been really good at least statistically each time he's played. 1966+2006 17-12-2011, 11:22:AM That's what I mean. He's got quite a few assists and been playing well any time that I've seen him play. I was surprised when I read that Mancini apparently told him to improve, since he's been underperforming. Nady 17-12-2011, 10:13:PM Thats stupid. I don't know how Mancini will keep the whole team happy in the long run. Why did he buy Nasri in the first place? There was absolutely no point when he had Silva. He should have spent money on defenders. Nimreitz 18-12-2011, 05:19:AM Rotation and injuries 1966+2006 18-12-2011, 11:53:AM TBH, I'd rather have a rather disgruntled Nasri to bring on 20 minutes before the end than Macheda... Nady 18-12-2011, 12:02:PM Come on, Nasri is TOO GOOD to be on the bench. They don't need Nasri to warm the bench. They have enough cover in Milner, Johnson etc. 1966+2006 18-12-2011, 12:52:PM I'd still say he brings something different than the other two. Nady 18-12-2011, 01:02:PM Yes but you're never gonna keep him happy being on the bench. He will get chances to play but he'll always be a second choice. He won't start the key matches. To put it simpler, his talent is being wasted on the bench. 1966+2006 18-12-2011, 01:56:PM That's probably not really a concern, though ;) Nady 18-12-2011, 02:09:PM Not now but it will be in the long run. yoyo913 18-12-2011, 04:41:PM I don't see what you're not getting. If you have the money to pay a very good player to be a back-up or sub then you do that to improve your team. I don't see you saying this about the whole Barca bench who has been doing it longer. Nimreitz 18-12-2011, 11:05:PM Yeah, Cesc and Alexis were bought with world class players already established in the team. Worked out well so far. ArgVega 08-01-2012, 02:56:PM Disgusting Foy today. I would rather watch 10-man City than that United team who was handed a free pass to the next round. Heads up City, you're a much better team than your counterparts(Y) MaestroZidane 13-02-2012, 05:49:PM I'd figured I post here to bump up this thread. So looks like Tevez is finally coming back. What a joke! rony31 14-02-2012, 04:24:AM Don't even get me started... Mus 14-02-2012, 07:15:AM Wow. If Mancini has any balls he should stand by his original statement to Tevez. He can't let his players know that they can walk all over him Mint 14-02-2012, 07:35:AM He should stand his ground with Tevez. 1966+2006 14-02-2012, 02:48:PM Especially since he's been mouthing it to the press again about how badly he's been treated. He's also been saying that he might be ready to play again, as if it's his own decision. Him coming back would definitely give you guys a boost, so on that front I don't want to see him back. From a neutral point of view, the club shouldn't cave... rony31 14-02-2012, 04:43:PM They shouldn't, but unfortunately it's looking more and more likely that he's coming back into the mix. He sits on his ass in Argentina for nearly 4 months and when he realizes a transfer away from the club didn't materialize, THEN he decides "okay, I'll come back, apologize IF THEY THINK I HAVE TO, and try to win back the fans who FOR SOME REASON have turned against me". I'd throw him into the reserves and see how loyal and hard-working he remains then. Disgrace. MaestroZidane 14-02-2012, 05:03:PM Completely agree! Now only that, IF you win the title, I would hate to see him celebrating out there with the team after all the S***T his pulled. Help? 15-02-2012, 12:05:AM Sounds very familiar. Then it all went pete tong. Just wished QPR stopped attacking, they had that in the bag. Congrats all the same. Bring on next season, hope its as fun as this ones been. rony31 14-05-2012, 06:14:AM Wish QPR stopped attacking? They had 2 attacks all game and both resulted in goals. STML1 14-05-2012, 06:20:AM Haha, yeah. They got a fluckey blunder by Lescott and Cisse put it away. And the other they just countered really well to a totally disorganized and desperate team. I still can't believe it happened after, though. Made my day. Nimreitz 14-05-2012, 06:36:AM I must admit, I was kind of hoping to see some great premature tattoos when you were down 2-1, but this is so much better. EDIT: BTW, how awesome was that dive by Tevez? Definitely picked the right sucker in Barton. STML1 14-05-2012, 06:50:AM Yeah, the commentators tried to justify it, but that was a blatant dive. I don't think Barton did more than raise his elbow. Funny thing is the line judge from the opposite side of the pitch was the guy who allegedly saw him. Barton's kick on Aguero was pretty funny, too. (H) Nimreitz 14-05-2012, 06:54:AM Yeah that was weird that the commentators didn't call it like it was. When they showed the replay of Tevez going down the whole bar busted out laughing. adedawson 14-05-2012, 09:12:AM Wish QPR stopped attacking? They had 2 attacks all game and both resulted in goals. Perhaps you didn't notice but I certainly did, right at the end they were bombing forward, with a man down leaving all sorts of gaps, you hit them on the counter and win. They should of been sitting on the ball, ticking down the clock, playing it in the corners. Not matter though, they still beat relegation. I was busy joking with my friends about how great it will be when SWP scores a deliberate own goal to win City the title. adedawson 14-05-2012, 11:47:AM haha, weird season, United, Bayern, Barca, Inter all losing. STML1 14-05-2012, 04:06:PM That was a kick? I though he punched him in the kidney then tried to nut kompany, that lads crazy lol I think he kneed Aguero in his hamstring, which also looked fairly weak... but Aguero went down like he got shot. He didn't even see him, which was hilarious. As soon as he felt contact he went down. (H) Mus 14-05-2012, 04:31:PM I think the face Joey pulled befor ethe knee/kick was the most hilarious thing about the whole incident. You must have been watching the reverse fixture when we won 3-2 away. Every time QPR got the ball in the final 15 minutes they would just bomb it towards Joe Hart and sit outside their own box waiting for the next City attack. And all the replays I've seen of the Barton-Tevez incident was from a really far angle, could barely see what happened. Wouldn't put it past Tevez to dive though (H) And if anyone here accuses Aguero of diving or doing ANYTHING other than absolute good, I will hunt you down. The man is immortal in my eyes. Other than that, nothing else. I'm not a huge picture taker when I'm having a great time. STML1 15-05-2012, 02:59:AM So how much stuff did you break prior to the 92th minute? rony31 15-05-2012, 04:52:AM I was working at the hospital on Sunday morning, finished up with patients at around 11:15 and headed to our weekend office which is full of computers. Started streaming the game and saw 2-1 in the 73rd minute and just sank in my seat, heart was in my throat, just felt like ****. I wasn't even angry, I just felt this sense of hopelessness and kept thinking "of course, just give everyone more excuses to throw 'typical City' at us". After Dzeko's goal I started jumping around, fist pumping and yelling "******* GET IN", thankfully nobody was around to hear and I'm pretty sure I was the only person on the entire floor. Once the winner went in I went ballistic, jumped around some more then did an epic slide across the office on my knees (while in my thin ass scrubs, my knees are scabbed today). Then I just kind of sank in the chair again and took in the final whistle and the pitch invasion until someone else walked into the office, so I had to collect myself, close the browser and try not to shed any tears. This was the closest I came to crying since the ending of Terminator 2. yoyo913 19-05-2012, 04:29:AM City is massively overrated. A collection of stars doesn't necessarily make a good team. *cough* Madrid *cough* ...from earlier in the season. Jaboldinho 19-05-2012, 08:39:AM Such a short post with so much fail. Nady 19-05-2012, 10:46:AM Won the league on goal difference, crashed early in the UCL, FA Cup etc. Spent 400 millions in the last 2-3 years. Good team though. They deserve what they won.
