Go to www.fifa2002.gq.nu (http://www.fifa2002.gq.nu) to see my webpage which is dedicated to improving the FIFA series from EA Sports, i e-mailed them the URL so hopefuly they will be getting a chance to read it.

1. referee strikness needs to be improved (i have played 10 games and had only 2 free kicks).
2. the midfielders should get involved with the attackers even defenders should be in this role too, for example, midfielders should make runs and ask for passes. forward players needs suport from midfields and diffens, like roberto carlos making a run through the wing and crossing it to a forward player.
3. And we defenetly need a low range shot.
that is it, i could not see anything else to be improved.
the game could of been a 9.5 out of 10 if they had thoes 3 things in the game.
so my rating is 7.

Well, the referee strictness has always been on a sliding bar and, in the actual game, I'm sure we can adjust it. As far as the midfield is concerned, I agree. I've had a hard time getting the midfield involved in the offense, due to EA's new "feature" that the players will show different urgency on the pitch. I don't know what you mean by "low range shot", I've been able to get goals from low range and mid range but not outside the box...
Actually I have managed to score from outside of the box. Also i would like to see a patch from EA which improves the sound effects, the sounds effects seem like they came from a ninja movie
tolypso 31-10-2000, 07:18:AM The referee strictness HAS to be different in the real game. I have tackled the opposing keeper and have not even been given a yellow card. Even on the most generous setting, this is always a red. It seems that no cards are being issued in the demo.
We can't expect too much fromt the demo.
the demo was just a small flavour of what we should expect + more when the full version comes out.
Khamyre 31-10-2000, 11:57:AM Well I've played the demo now and it is the most gorgeous looking game that you couldn't have imagined would exist back in the Sensible Soccer pre1995 era.
YET. As far as I can tell the AI doesn't seem that different to 2000 which is a shame because I thought the AI was a bit weak in 2000. The Free kick system seems a bit odd in that it seems absolutely impossible to score from a direct free kick.....anyone else done this yet?
Shots from outside the box that score are incredibly rare. A bit too rare I think.
This whole IGM1,2,3 thing. One 'MAJOR' flaw in this is that you have no control over who you place into each position for each IGM. Example would be in IGM 3 you can end up with your right back in the central striker position when I would really have preferred to move an attacking midfielder into that role. This was the same problem in 2000 and seems still in 2001.
If you run along the bottom of the pitch in tower view there is a TV camera that follows your every move...NICE TOUCH. But again just an asthetic improvement.
EA have seemed to concentrate too much on the Asthetics and not enough on the depth of AI and tactical options available to you. It still has that ARCADE feel to it, unlike NHL2001 which I regard as an absolutely brilliant simulation of a sport.
This is just the demo and hopefully the fullversion will have a little bit more to offer but all I can see is EA FIFA 2000 with a couple of extra bells and whistles and not too much else........SORRY
streem 31-10-2000, 01:53:PM A 6 month player stats update
Well I've played the demo a few times and scored twice from a corner, the setting for the refree I feel is strict enough but I am certain it would be adjustable.
The midfield 'problem' isn't reall a problem changing the camera to tower or sideline gives much better overall vision and helps, I think, the strategy/formation you use will certainly influence how well your midfield gathers the ball. Given that's the case, I think its fine, even in the demo version, you just have to have a bit more foresight, be a bit cleverer, and as the game is slower, you should cope.
Shame about the IGM for corners, but its the same as FIFA 2000, using training (in2000) figures out exactly which combinations and sets of combinations make up each set piece for set pieces 1-3 you would find out that each of those three have an additional two or three different combos in fifa2000 activated by waiting off course. This covers the most likely combination, good enough in my opninon if FIFA2001 carries the same and/or introduces more options.
On the whole I'm very impressed, especially with the fatigue bar if only they could have included quick substition and an option that allows player movements to be influenced/or not by weather or even to a certain deegree.
As for the IGM I only hope, that they fix that problem of having defenders end up in midefield or forward positions and vice versa we'd see soon won't we!
mahdy 31-10-2000, 05:33:PM I really surprised, it is so bad. i cannot believe it, i didn't play with demos before but
1) the ball movement is odd (far away from reality)
2) how can i tackle the goalie from behind, and don't get even a yellow card?
3) the game is still fast, and the pitch is not that big i imagined.
4) the sound is so funny, has nothing to do with soccer.
5) the defenders are the same, that damn weak, you can very easily score goals.
Any way i wish that the demo is not for fifa 2001. In my opinion it's a big fake.
have a nice day
bdincer 31-10-2000, 05:41:PM EA still does very little to improve the game.
I think the people who coded this game do not have any clue about soccer, That's why game looks so good, but plays bad.
Players do not make any run to open
spaces. Refree still sucks. Through ball still does not work quite write. Not every pass in soccer goes to your teammates feet. Crosses are still to perfect. They should have implemenet power bar with crosses as well. I think EA sports coded this game for 10 year olds.
Top bob 31-10-2000, 11:44:PM Hello mate,
Hum, I download the demo yesterday and I was very excited by this new Fifa 2001. I start the game with Arsenal and the graphics are amazing : the logos, the faces, the designers have made a very god job. But I don't if it's my voodoo 3 who sucks but I didn't see the benchs and the cameramans. I hope I could see them in the final version of the game. The referee are still blind but it's probably due to the demo. The pitch is amazing and very very big. It's a very good point. I think the demo was on "Amateur mode" because the defenders don't give a **** about me when I 'm the surface. The animation of the sideline/referee is pretty good but I only see one and not two as the real game. It's a bug? The sound are a bit strange. The tackles sound like a bobsleig racing(!!!), the collision between 2 men sounds like a Jacky Chan movie. I 've a Sound Blaster Live and I expect a harware acceleration for the sound and more realist sounds, not sounds from Beat them all game or movies!!!
The deep passe works well and the goalkeeper who was the big dumb in Fifa 2000 reacts with logical and his movements are superbs and natural. The bicycle kick is too easy to do. In the demo, I've score 10 times like that, it's not realist. The forwards are a bit lonely when they attack because the midfields take a cup of coffee. Damned, I didn't know that it's was tea-time!!! I love the power bar because I can make some big shoots from Mars!!! The free-kick system needs timing. I always drop the ball, it's a bit frustating.
To sum up, Fifa 2001 demo is great but I hope the full game will be more challenging. Fifa 2000 was a real **** because of its speed. The speed of Fifa 2001 is good but a bit to speedy to create a real strategic game.
See you guys!
Ps: if my engli****'s because I 'm french but I progress ;-)
GUYS GUYS YOU NEED TO BE PATIENT, TRUST ME THE GAME WILL DEFINITELY FEEL DIFFERENT AND PLAY DIFFERENT ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE USED TO PLAYING WITH FIFA2000 OR FIFA99 THIS IS DIFFERENT, YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT AT FIRST, BUT IN A LITTLE WHILE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FULL VERSION IS OUT, i AM CERTAIN IT WILL FEEL MUCH BETTER AND YOU MIGHT EVEN APPRECIATE SOME SURPRISINGLY SUBTLE AND EFFECTIVE CHANGES. PATIENCE
hi all,
I have played the demo several times ... and i hear you guys complaining about tackling the keeper without getting a card.
I noticed it to, but in the demo, the referees don't give cards, offside doesn't count, ...
Mentholica 01-11-2000, 01:31:AM In my dreams I only wished for better gameplay, and guess what has happened. Everything has gotten better, except the gameplay. Playing the demo was a true deception unfortunately! I would like to see a game as good as the real thing and a thought that was the goal of EA developers too, but the result is merely a console-like game. Poor AI, the same again as fifa99 and fifa00. I am even considering not bying this version, if it wasn't for the awesome graphics in the game. I am stuck playing fifa01 untill EA finally listens to the real players and develop what real soccerfans like to see: realism in fifa02!!!

Feyenoord4Ever 01-11-2000, 06:49:AM 1.I agree the sound is crap but I think this can easely be solved by setting the SFX volume lower.
2.I do think the game is much more realistic because the players don't play the ball in each others feet automaticly, sometimes a player can't reach the ball.
But I do think the players shoulden't hide behind the players of the opposite team but go to open spaces.
3.Goalies are MUCH more realistic than recent FIFA titles..The goalies dive nicer, they even punch the ball away and they also save with their feet.
4.graphics are FANTASTIC!There is a lot of activity around and on the pitch, for example: the security guards really look around and move their face.
The cameraman follows the ball by turning the camera.
The players doing a warming up really strech and move..
I don't like the crowd though, that's crap again..
5.The shooting is weird,I haven't shot a powerfull low ball yet,all the balls seem to fly to the top of the goal.
The long range passing looks cool, you can see the ball make a curve if you pass high.I do think it might be a bit to accurate though.
6.I have noticed the pitch size is finally bigger.looks nice also.
Final conclusion:
I have only played the demo, and I'm extremely impressed, and that while the demo only has a tiny amount of features the real game has!
I think we FINALLY have a good FIFA title, wich we haven't seen since FIFA RTWC 98..
Guys I think you have to give this game a chance and play MANY games to see the smal differences here and there. If you put the gamespeed on slow and change the referee strictness to be more strict, you will see that this game has improved. True it could be improved, but what game is perfect?
