View Full Version : FIFA 11 new File structure - Analysis, experiments and discussions thread

I decided to create a thread where the editors can share their experiments and thoughts about the new FIFA file system.
Please if some mod can make this sticky i think it would be useful.
I have take a look and everything seems different but we still have .big files:innocent_smile_1:
They can be opened with FileMaster10 but when i try to edit the files inside it can´t save the changes.
We still have some ini files like carreer.ini
In data0.big i found fifa_ng_db.db which might be the main db of the game.
Together there is a .xml with it´s structure.

So keep using this thread when you found something about the file structure.
Hrvoje Bajlo 16-09-2010, 01:55:AM So.. we've got replacement for fsh fileformat and as i can see, impbig and biggui are not working with .big files.
only eagraph 104 version is working and with extra hexadecimal editing you can export files, which, seems to me are uncompressed!?!?
so far, i've exported some files and investigating them.. will try importing back to .big, but we will need new rebuilder for .bh files too..
alot of work is ahead of us if we want to edit this game in the same way we did in past years..

just to let you all know that Ariel and myself are in the middle of investigating new fileformat .rx3 which we believe is modified .fsh So far, we've managed to export any file from .big, but they all remain UNCOMPRESSED, so there has to be a way to find algorithm to decompress .rx3... I'm sure Ariel will crack it very soon :D

SCUser 16-09-2010, 12:05:PM Hi there!! after exploring the .big files , i noticed data4.big has the songs files. There are 5 of them. But i dont know how to edit them, since there are .sns format.
Also the same audio format which is used in Burnout Paradise. Anyone knows something about .sns editor?

lua files are something like programming script...one of this, settings.lua you can use it to edit graphics setting like a cfg_pc_h.ini so you can enable disable bloom, depth of field and other things

for now all we do is hexadecimal editing, and that's how we're extracting everything. but i'm sure, as soon as everything is cracked, soon you can expect GUI or CMD line tool for new file format. i'm not announcing ANYTHING, just saying.

you can export files with big gui, but, you have first to rename files to shorter filename ;)

G2000 16-09-2010, 07:47:PM Here is a quick guide on how to import textures using TextMod:
EXPORTING FILES:
- Using TextMod, click on the Logging Mode tab and set an Output Folder:
- Set Output format to PNG
- Set the target application to point to the FIFA.EXE file
- In that window (logging mode tab) click RUN
- FIFA will now launch.
- Start a game and when you get to the point where you would play, hit the + button on the NUM PAD (very important)
- This will start scrolling each image on the screen. Using the ENTER key will save that image.
- The images will be saved in the OUTPUT folder mentioned above.
NOTE: You will have hundreds of textures show up, hit ENTER ONLY on the ones you wish to modify.
MOD'ing
- Modify the images you exported in the Output folder
- Once done, click on the Package Build tab in TextMod and point to the text file created there. This will ID all the textures you exported! You can delete any line within that file you dont want (in other words select on the files you edited, then save the text file)
- When ready, click on the BUILD button (you will see a message like: Success! xx Textures added). This in turn will create a tpf file!
Import an RUN!
- On the package Mode tab click on the folder icon, it will ask you where the TPF file is located (package name)
- Once added click on RUN and enjoy!!!
Notes: As I said before, it will NOT ALLOW you to import any graphics into the BIG files! It will use any files in the OUTPUT folder to override the default EA textures. YOU CANNOT run the game without TextMod and see the changes you made. This is a VERY time consuming process as you will need to scroll thru hundreds of textures to find the ones you want to modify. Be sure to add transparencies to PNG files as if you leave them as exported, any part that is BLACK will show up. . This method will only allow you to modify textures, not database data.
Until a better method (editor) is created, this is the best we can do at this time with the tools out there.

G2000 16-09-2010, 08:44:PM As we've seen in other posts, editing the RNA.INI in the demo allows us to change the difficulty level, add extra time to half's etc.
If you wish to set FIFA 11 in a windowed mode, add the following line into the rna.ini
FULLSCREEN=0
Other known rna.ini settings:

// 2 = PRO
// 3 = WORLDCLASS

If I recall from the original poster, 4 = LEGENDARY did not work? (havent tired ti to be honest)
This file is located in the FIFA 11 Demo\Game folder. You can create your own using notpad, paste the contents in it and save as an .ini file (rna.ini)

It's good to see everybody working together. The new FIFA NG is very good, but I really would like to know if EASPORTS really thought in us. There are thousand fifa sites where everybody do something to improve fifa old versions, and EASPORTS worked to create a good game but forgot the community. I think that the minimum would be a Creation Centre software to edit the game.
Doesn't matter now. It's time to change and prove that the community is much more.
The title from the new fifa is: "We are 11" and for us could be "We are 1100000000000"

(it's a photo because printscreen and fraps are not working correctly maybe due to TexMod)
the "purple" map is used as a mask for the normal maps for the different kinds of fabrics so each shirt model will have a unique mask, this also applies to the shorts and socks. (my kit is completely plain in that area).
For balls i found that the normal map also stores an alpha channel which i think it's used for the specular levels.

Can you wait man? They cannot open everything in the first day! They are concentrating on texture now...
By the way Krystian's program worked with FIFA 10 NG database, but does not with FIFA 11 Demo database. Hope he finds a way to open it soon!
As we've seen in other posts, editing the RNA.INI in the demo allows us to change the difficulty level, add extra time to half's etc.
If you wish to set FIFA 11 in a windowed mode, add the following line into the rna.ini
FULLSCREEN=0
Other known rna.ini settings:

Delete data2.big. Now the files working from folder and not from data.big
In this folder Game\data\sceneassets\stadium change the names of the files
festadium_238_1_container_0.rx3 to stadium_2_1_container_0.rx3 and vice-versa

can you re-upload the pic? says bandwith exceeded. as far as i know kits don't use normal maps like boots and balls. in this thread, page 5 i posted my research on that matter. i'll be doing some testing now and i'll post my results later. i think that the "kit raptor" for fifa 11 will have to include the importing for such maps (shirt color, shirt masks, shorts color, short masks).
looking at the minikits i think is very unlikely but it would be great if we can use home shirt with away shorts and socks. i know it's too soon but maybe a keyboard shortcut as in kitserver for pes.

I have to write a new post.
I made a little experiment and I discovered that i game there are two version of adboards. The first one answers for electric adboards and the second one, I think, for not-electric. When I put into the game other adboards in exchange of one EA's adboards, there were no changes. The file's name is "FIFA.EXE_0x877F94E9". I think it's for not-electric adboards. When I replaced the second one ("FIFA.EXE_0x61026406") surely answers for electric.
I think, that in DEMO are only electric adboards, but in full version there could be another.

festadium_238_1_container_0.rx3 to stadium_2_1_container_0.rx3 and vice-versa
how can i wxtract data2.big ? im newbie thanks

Thank you for the tool, i managed to unpack the .big data's. But once i edit the files i want, how do i import them back? PLS answer this the only thing i dont get it. I want to edit videoupload.ini to see if i can upload higher resolution replays to eafootballworld! but i do not know how to import it back to data0.big so the game can start fine.

What must i do for listening, editing and adding new commentary sounds?
I also opened the data05.big with fifafs.exe, and there is a file like " eng_us.sbs" in it.This is the commentator sounds i think. But i don't know what am i going to do next with .sbs file..

I just wander how can you uncompress rx3 file with zlib, is there many texture file in one rx3 file? I also tried many times, but still failure. And after uncompress file from rx3, how can you convert these file to picture format such as bmp, jpg, png and so on.

Unfortunately I'm pretty short in free time, so changes to fifafs were really small:
1. '-makebh' to regenerate .bh file. This command will regenerate data1.bh:
fifafs -makebh data1.big
2. '-delfrombh' to erase file record from .bh file (perhaps somebody will need this :)). This example will delete all *.ini files records from data0.bh (data0.big is not modified!):
fifafs -delfrombh data0.big *.ini
After erasing file from .bh, FIFA will start looking for it outside of .big file (like in previous versions of FIFA, after removing record from fifa.fat)
After rebuilding .bh, FIFA will see file again.
3. '-create_paths' option working with '-depackbig'. This one is useful to re-create same file structure as used inside .big file. When you unpack .big file using this option, record like "data/ui/game/screens/bootflow/01_legal.big" will be unpacked as file 01_legal.big in folder "data\ui\game\screens\bootflow" (all subfolders automatically created).
This command will unpack all files from all bigs in FIFA 11 Demo and decompress files if possible:
for /L %a in (0,1,7) do fifafs.exe -depackbig $dir_fifa11demo$\Game\data%a.big $dir_fifa11demo$\Game\ -create_paths -decompress
After running that you can completely remove dataX.bh and dataX.big files.
Previous versions of FIFA worked somewhat like that that too, but were not too stable reading files from outside zdata.big's.
FIFA 11 seems to be much-much stable.
I think depacking all files is a good start for anyone who wants to explore new FIFA files - all files will be right at your hand viewable and editable without hassle with dataX.big's. Files are now pretty well organized into folders, so you won't get thousands of files into FIFA root folder.
Also it would be great if somebody measures FIFA performance (FPS, loading time?) before and after unpacking .big files. Because everybody here saying that reading outside of .big's will slow down FIFA, but that is only thoughts, we have no any solid info about that.
4. '-decompress' works with 'chunkzip' compression, which is used for most of .rx3 files.
However in some cases it crashes :-). Will fix that asap.

Unfortunately I'm pretty short in free time, so changes to fifafs were really small:
1. '-makebh' to regenerate .bh file. This command will regenerate data1.bh:
2. '-delfrombh' to erase file record from .bh file (perhaps somebody will need this :)). This example will delete all *.ini files records from data0.bh (data0.big is not modified!):
After erasing file from .bh, FIFA will start looking for it outside of .big file (like in previous versions of FIFA, after removing record from fifa.fat)
After rebuilding .bh, FIFA will see file again.
3. '-create_paths' option working with '-depackbig'. This one is useful to re-create same file structure as used inside .big file. When you unpack .big file using this option, record like "data/ui/game/screens/bootflow/01_legal.big" will be unpacked as file 01_legal.big in folder "data\ui\game\screens\bootflow" (all subfolders automatically created).
This command will unpack all files from all bigs in FIFA 11 Demo and decompress files if possible:
After running that you can completely remove dataX.bh and dataX.big files.
Previous versions of FIFA worked somewhat like that that too, but were not too stable reading files from outside zdata.big's.
FIFA 11 seems to be much-much stable.
I think depacking all files is a good start for anyone who wants to explore new FIFA files - all files will be right at your hand viewable and editable without hassle with dataX.big's. Files are now pretty well organized into folders, so you won't get thousands of files into FIFA root folder.
Also it would be great if somebody measures FIFA performance (FPS, loading time?) before and after unpacking .big files. Because everybody here saying that reading outside of .big's will slow down FIFA, but that is only thoughts, we have no any solid info about that.
4. '-decompress' works with 'chunkzip' compression, which is used for most of .rx3 files.
However in some cases it crashes :-). Will fix that asap.

That is looking awesome and I have a lot of respect for the work and effort you all are putting into this. Just one question: If I send you a small file of the "new" .big-archives EA uses for NHL and other sports games on Xbox 360 - could you probably have a look at it and tell me if it is possible to implement support for these .big-archives as well in your new editor? It would be absolutely great to have one single program for all of the work.

Packing options are the same of last years
(look at fifafs documentation).
Now you must reubuild bh files (first option in the tutorial)
after modifying big files.
Since there isn't a fat index file, no longer needed regeneration. (Y)

To import file into dataX.big use:
fifafs -r dataX.big <intname> <filename>
<intname> is how file named inside .big, for example "data/setplay/setplays.big".
<filename> is path to file you want to put into .big
After importing, update .bh file:
fifafs -makebh dataX.big
I already know how to pick up all zlib files from rx3 file and unzlib its, but I still don't know how to convert these unzlib file to dds format, then convert to picture format as png, bmp or jpg...
Is there anybody can tell me? Thanks~

All files in fifa have read-only attribute, you should remove it.
