Man Utd team news:
Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing to recall all his big guns for Sunday's eagerly-anticipated encounter with Liverpool.
Dimitar Berbatov has already been assured his place in the Red Devils starting line-up and will almost certainly be joined by Edwin van der Sar, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and Paul Scholes, who all missed Tuesday's draw with Rangers.
Antonio Valencia (ankle) is out until February, so more responsibility falls on the shoulders of Nani.
Liverpool team news:
Striker Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard return to Liverpool's starting line-up as manager Roy Hodgson restores his strongest side.
The pair were left out of Thursday's Europa League victory as Hodgson made eight changes and he likely to effect a similar number at Old Trafford.
Joe Cole will play only his second Barclays Premier League match of the season after serving a three-match ban.
Squads:
Man Utd: Van der Sar, Kuszczak, O'Shea, Rafael, Neville, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Smalling, Evra, Fabio, Park, Gibson, Scholes, Anderson, Fletcher, Giggs, Nani, Rooney, Owen, Berbatov, Hernandez, Macheda.
Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Konchesky, Lucas, Poulsen, Cole, Rodriguez, Gerrard, Jovanovic, Torres, Jones, Meireles, Pacheco, Babel, Ngog, Krygiakos.
Probable line-ups:
Man Utd

O'Shea - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Park - Scholes - Fletcher - Nani
Rooney - Berbatov
----------------------------------------------
Torres
Maxi. R. - J. Cole - Jovanovic
Gerrard - Lucas

MaestroZidane 19-09-2010, 12:29:AM I see a 1-1 draw on this one...
Maybe ManU leading until the last minutes and pool getting that late goal...
I want Owen to score.
Then he can leave us.

This has been the trend this season. I'd be pisssed off if this happens
cfdemarco 19-09-2010, 01:29:AM I'm gonna say 2-1 United. I feel like it's going to be a striker's game. Rooney and Berbs for United, F9T for 'Pool.
Azrael 19-09-2010, 04:22:AM ManU's gonna win, but I don't think it'll be easy.
That Pool line-up is messed up btw. Is Jovanovic supposed to a be a striker? He hasn't played as one since he's arrived.
My bet would be:
Torres
Jovanovic - Cole - Maxi
Gerrard - Poulsen
Agger - Skrtel - Carragher - Johnson
Reina
If Carrick wasn't injured (he's injured right?) I'd say that Fergie would got with a 4-5-1.
I was just thinking about how these two will line-up, and both squads look pretty bare for talent right now. Maybe it's me, but I think they were both stronger a few years ago.

Yes Carrick is injured. I'm sure Fergie would still play 4-4-2 with Carrick fit. Reason is because Berbatov is in the form of his life and Rooney is always playing no matter how crap his form is.
I haven't really seen Liverpool playing this season TBH so I don't know what formation they play. I took that "probable squad" list from Skysports. Yes I've seen Jovanovic play as striker for Serbia, so he can play there as well. I'll modify the lineup.
And yes I agree. United - Pool games are not as intense as they used to be 2-3 years ago. Thats mostly due to Liverpool becoming a midtable team thanks to the Rafalution. And United haven't looked as sharp either. Hope this changes and we get to watch an exciting game.
MaSsiVe 19-09-2010, 06:00:AM Man Utd 0-1 Liverpool
Owen '94
creativemantra 19-09-2010, 08:49:AM Man utd 3-1 Pool...
Hopefully rooney scores at the proper end
MaSsiVe 19-09-2010, 02:24:PM wtf was Torres doing on the goal, marking Berba's rectum with his crotch?
nonetheless deserved lead so far for ManU, and it's been a good match overall.
1-0 Berbatov. Liverpool have looked very mid-table TBH. Could've been more than 1-0.
Berbatov, Nani, Rooney and Scholes have been looking good so far, especially the rejuvenated Berbatov. Showed his class several times. 5 goals in 6 games for him so far. Hope he continues. Rooney might not be scoring but he's doing a lot in the buildup. He's looking more like his old supporting striker days. Tracking back more and playing less as a CF as he played last season. He's still effective.
Our less good players imo have been Fletcher and Evra. Fletcher has been misplacing many balls which is unusual for him. Maybe its not his day. Evra is invisible on the left and whenever he had the ball he just didn't deliver. He hasn't been good since the season started.
MaSsiVe 19-09-2010, 02:35:PM how 'bout O'Shea dude? his crossing is simply abismal
Nani and Berba are doing very well indeed.
MaSsiVe 19-09-2010, 02:49:PM BERBATOV!!
what a goal
simo_yes 19-09-2010, 02:53:PM scene is set for an epic liverpool comeback
EDIT: called that like a minute before it happened
O'Shea? There's no point mentioning him because he's always poor. So it has been a "decent" game by his standards so far.
Penalty now. EDIT: Goal. Very poor defending from Evans. Where the **** is Ferdinand???
simo_yes 19-09-2010, 02:56:PM goooooooooool comeback time
simo_yes 19-09-2010, 03:01:PM another gooooooool
MaSsiVe 19-09-2010, 03:01:PM hahaha! game ON!

simo_yes 19-09-2010, 03:14:PM no no no no no no no
simo_yes 19-09-2010, 03:24:PM time to go cry myself to sleep
Arnau 19-09-2010, 03:25:PM Holy **** what a masterpiece by berbatov.
Oh Stevie Stevie G.... u love kissing the camera at Old Trafford but that must have felt like u've just kissed DIMITAR BERBATOV's arse!!!
Azrael 19-09-2010, 03:26:PM Too bad I have to wait until tomorrow to watch the replay, sounds like an entertaining match.
merieles i think (whoever was next to the wall) was actually really clever on that gerrard goal
STML1 19-09-2010, 03:39:PM I ******* hate this country sometimes.
Our defense is really worrying me a lot. Evans is Championship level at most. I know he's young and will improve but he shouldn't be starting over Ferdinand now. O'Shea is just... O'Shea. Probably should've been sent off as he was the last defender for that challenge. But the replays didn't show much, so I cannot tell for sure. Credits to him for that superb cross to Berbatov's winner though. Fletcher has been horrible. He misplaced so many balls and decided to get off the wall for no reason leading to that goal.
We could've won 3-0 imo. Liverpool were nothing but a Europa team today imo and were totally gifted the 2 goals. Otherwise they were hardly threatening most of the time.
MikeyM 19-09-2010, 04:41:PM Should have murdered them. Stupid naive defending from Evans and O'Shea. Berbatov was out of this world.
Seán D 19-09-2010, 05:43:PM O'Shea should not have been sent off. It wasn't a goal scoring opportunity.
Defense will improve, hopefully we get the Vida-Rio partnership back going again.
creativemantra 19-09-2010, 07:58:PM im starting to worry for rooney though...
oif berba loses his consistency...
rooney in the current form would be a disaster for us
and when will fergie throw owen out of the team ? he's using the space for havier and co..
good to see macheda get a runabout

Highlights.
Don't worry about Rooney for now. He'll pick up his form soon. I thought he played quite well today. He did well in the build up play... So at least he's giving us a lot of creativity even though not scoring. He's playing more like in the Ronaldo days when he used to assist rather than score.
Fergie said that he's not thinking of selling Owen to Aston Villa and said Houllier is wasting his time considering getting Owen.
Help? 20-09-2010, 01:05:AM Owen better be teaching Macheda and Hernandez some next level **** on the training ground then
Alejandrix 20-09-2010, 03:28:AM We are in shadows... that is all i can say. I don´t know why Roy bringed on Jovanovic and Agger... Meireles was doing a good job, the same with Konchesky, he wouldn´t have let O´shea cross the ball to Berbatov. :@ but i have to say Manu deserved it. We would have been lucky to draw.
