View Full Version : is it just me, or does FIFA 10 suck?
yaganon 19-09-2010, 12:08:PM Ok, I've been playing FIFA for a couple of weeks. At first, I sucked really bad because I didn't know how to dribble around the last defender. Now, I still can't. I'm not bothering with trick moves, and I'm dependent 100% on my passing game. I'm afraid of playing defense also because the computer can dribble past me with ease.
I played my first full game under professional difficulty today, and... I got 2 hard earned goals against Argentina. But after each goal, f***ing Lionel Messi manages to dribble past my retarded defenders and tap the ball into the net. That pissed me off so much. I mean here's my team, slow as sloth and agile as a paraplegic, while the other team posses super human athleticism and speed...
Playing FIFA is like trying to manage a group of idiots. I seriously don't see how one can stand watching the opposing team with the ball run free, while your player with the ball gets run down by defenders 10 yards away.
Sorry for the rant. But I'm sure I'm not the only one out there.
Duong 19-09-2010, 12:40:PM Well yeah, but there are others who thinks FIFA 10 is child's play too. It all boils down to a matter of time I guess. Practice makes perfect. Although I wouldn't exactly recommend practicing playing FIFA. Lol. Good luck buddy.
yaganon 19-09-2010, 06:44:PM could it also be a matter of framerate? I remember playing FIFA at a low fps, and I could not get anything going. Now, I've adjusted the game settings such that gameplay is much smoother, but I'm still getting annoying lags at critical moments such as receiving a pass with nothing but the goalkeeper ahead of me.
Other than turning down all my game settings, is there a way to make the game run faster? I don't have other windows open when I play.

Install the latest DirectX. Helped me a lot in terms of frame rate. With enbseries.ini with custom settings enabled via shift-f12, and with RENDER_RATE_MODE = 1 in cfg.pc_h.ini, with older DirectX, sometimes it would slow down (not lag but slow down) at key moments and during goal and corner kicks. With latest Direct X, FIFA 10 PC with NVidia GeForce 9800M GS has no slowdown now on RENDER_RATE_MODE = 1 except slightly on corner kicks while moving the camera. No slowdown, and i recommend anyone to change to RENDER_RATE_MODE = 1 in cfg_pc_h.ini (or whichever one you use, medium , low or high) With latest direct x, my match is at an optimal speed. cutscenes are much slower but this is good for 45 min halves.

Faster can mean a lot of things. you either want it smoother or faster. the faster you have it, usually the less smooth it is if you graphics card is near it's limit. i prefer slow and smooth rather than fast and choppy, but every graphics card is different. One RENDER_RATE_MODE value may perform differently on different cards.
Champion757 20-09-2010, 09:58:PM Oh and FIFA 10 PC does not suck. FIFA 10 PC just may turn out to be the greatest football game of all time.

dont turn your back on FIFA 11
Champion757 21-09-2010, 02:02:PM dont turn your back on FIFA 11
I'm not in a position to turn my back to FIFA 11. I'll buy FIFA 11 for PC. But I may not be able to run it until i get a better machine. What I won't do is I will not turn my back on FIFA 10 PC. The engine is too good.
veggt 23-09-2010, 07:19:PM Don't worry, FIFA 11 will be out in 5 days :bob::bouncy::innocent_smile_1::33vff3o: :browsmiley:

You need to mod ai.ini.

The urge to play FIFA 10 on PC comes and goes. I took 6 months off from FIFA 10 PC modding, then when the world cup happened, I came back to it and continued in the search for optimal values. I don't think the AI becoming too easy is an indication of playing too much, it's probably the opposite, a sign that you need to find a better a.i.
In theory, a football game on the PC should not be boring. you should not get annoyed while playing a sports game. every game you play should be just as enjoyable as watching a real match. the same scenarios that happen in a real match should be portrayed in the game. if it isn't, then perhaps you are playing the wrong game too much. Or should I say the wrong gameplay.

Actully, when I think about it I feel the same way. The EA gameplay for FIFA 10 was messed up anyways. FIFA 11 provides a great challenge.

Well said. (Y) FIFA 10 PC mods is good work, and others prefer FIFA 11.
persian52 12-10-2010, 11:56:PM fifa10 is easy, but still good!

You a gameplay modder?
Champion757 06-12-2010, 08:57:PM FIFA 10 PC is the absolute holy grail. what you can do with this engine is simply awesome.
All my qualms with EA can be forgotten when I play a game of FIFA 10 PC with 45 minute halves with modded a.i. with custom teams and stadiums. no game is perfect, and unlocking the full potential of FIFA 10 PC is a challenge, but it's well worth it. There is something significant about FIFA 10 PC in the fact that so many fail to unravel it's greatness.

manashwi_k 08-12-2010, 05:17:PM well i find it rather amusing tht in fifa 10 some russian players tire preety quickly. afterall in reality russkies hv great stamina

is it just russian players that tire quickly? in my experience, most players tire quickly. i play 45 minute halves and i noticed that the 2nd half is much different than the first half. although somewhat quirky at times, i've grown to find it strategic and not altogether unrealistic.
