View Full Version : Celtic-Rangers, sunday 24th october 2010
paolo-fcb 19-10-2010, 11:42:AM So guys the "old firm" is back, this time the teams are at the top of the table al together with 24 pts in 8 matches, Gers got a +1 on goal difference; everybody knows my past, my personal war into the I.R.A. but always against terrorism, my way to be fenian and republican, but I'm 41 years old and this is the past, I wish peace and love in Ireland so THIS IS ONLY A FOOTBALL MATCH TO ME, HOPE A GREAT FOOTBALL MATCH, NO POLITICS, NO RELIGIOUS WARS, STOP WITH ALL AND PEACE IN THE NORTHERN PART OF IRELAND AND IN SCOTLAND AND ALL OVER THE WORLD!
I'll support my team, Celtic, but I'll always pay respect to the Rangers like to all the football teams in the world, we're rival but 4 me it's only sport, football, now after too many years I feel something different and wish peace in Belfast and Derry, I wish catholic people and protestants ones could live in peace remembering that u play the same game and live the same life, this is the reason cause I'm pleased to type to all of you and to myself something that BONO VOX said many years ago in 1988 and in the U.S.A. during my favourite U2's song, sunday bloody sunday:
....Now lemme tell you somethin'. I've had enough of Irish Americans who haven't been back to their country in twenty or thirty years come up to me and talk about the resistence, the revolution back home. And the glory of the revolution, and the glory of dyin' for the revolution. **** the revolution! They don't talk about the glory of killing for the revolution. What's the glory in takin' a man from his bed and gunnin' him down in front of his wife and his children? Where's the glory in that? Where's the glory in bombing a Rememberance Day parade of old-aged pensioners, their medals taken out and polished up for the day. Where's the glory in that? To leave them dyin', or crippled for life, or dead, under the rubble of a revolution that the majority of the people of my country don't want. Sing no more
That's what I think and what I wish in Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales!
So come on Celtic and win the best, repeat, it's a football match, we are doing well and win 8 matches in a row, last one I watched in Dundee with a goal of Hooper in the last minute, Gers won last game 4-1 so I wish to watch a great football match in the "paradise", and best wishes for the Rangers' fans in the champions league, shame these year we're out of European cups.......

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
Recrero152 19-10-2010, 02:17:PM Ahh, the classic... The Scots recognize this rivalry match as the best in the world. I agree to what you say and I hope that it'll be a great and above all as calm as possible. We don't want any trouble. If I ain't busy, I just might watch it.

Celtic-Rangers if the best classic all over the world, only Boca-River can compete......:)
Tosiek 20-10-2010, 02:33:PM Without Boruc it won't be the same match as it used to be.:(

Yes, Ragners will score one goal and not 5 lol:smilex:
I joke Tony, Artur has been a good goalkeeper but Forster is good enough so Zaluska......:)........of course McGregor is better.......:$

It's always interesting to hear someone claim that their rivalry is the best in the world from literally 0 backing. It's as funny as hearing the Canadian media saying that "MTL vs. Toronto FC" is the best rivalry on earth. Why? "Because we say so".
In South America, the majority of fans haven't even heard of either of these TEAMS, let alone recognizing them as some kind of major rivalry.
Celtic and Rangers play sub part football (terrible to watch), play in the most boring league on the planet, and have very few international titles (IE: 1 cup winners cup, and 1 Euro cup.......pathetic).
To compare it to Boca vs. River is an insult , not only to Argentineans, but football in general.

Celtic has been Europa champions in 1967, Lisboa, final with Inter, 2-1.....
Respect all pareers please and the importance of a similar match is recognized all over the world, so learn about football before posting "betises"......
edit-Celtic have fans all over the world, how many irish americans people live in the USA? and in Australia? Many millions.

I know, that's what I said, 1 Euro cup (1967, then they lost to Racing in the world title final a few months later).
Listen, to have many fans means **** all. "all over the world"? Considering that the majority of south american fans (1 out of the 2 most important football continents on earth) never heard of Celtic or Rangers (Except for "That green team that showed up in 1967 to play Racing), says a lot.
Having many fans means **** all. Corinthians boasts about 80 million fans (in Brazil alone), and they aren't even considered one of the elite clubs on South America.
Their title history is pathetic. You have Boca boasting 5x Copa Libertadores, 3x World championships. THAT's history. Celtic's is "ok" at best, Rangers isn't even worth mentioning as a footnote in the history of great clubs.
Comparing them to Boca and River, is like comparing Chivas (Mexico) to Liverpool, just because they have a ridiculously huge fan base (even worldwide).
moldovan 24-10-2010, 12:40:AM both teams catch the wave. But i think that the Bhoys will win :]
Recrero152 24-10-2010, 01:09:AM Give me some tips guys, who's gonna win so I can bet on them? Lol

Penarol vs Nacional has the biggest rivalry on earth dude.....now go jerk off to Riquelme and Boca. Why are Uruguayan's and Argentinian's so damn cocky?
paolo-fcb 24-10-2010, 10:41:PM Shame nobody cares the final score, its Celtic-Rangers 1-3.....
I ask mods to close this thread if u can, of course I will not talk about Celtic-Rangers anymore.

Sorry man, guess I didn't make clear my past history with Celtic/Rangers. I didn't mean to sound arrogant.
To be honest, I despise Celtic/Rangers (club and fans) because 1 ) I really like Heart of Midlothian and feel the Scottish clubs get royally screwed over by the old firm.
But that's not the main reason. Celtic/Rangers fans have a completely undeserved sense of superiority towards 95% of clubs around the UK , and most of Europe (they will march around, calling pretty much every club they encounter "insignificant" because of their "Glorious history", which is a huge joke compared to the real giants of world football).
Simple. 1967 Euro title doesn't even get you in the top 10 of European football history, let alone world football history.

Of course, this is not the history of football, was it a friendly match?

They emerged from isolation in the 20s and 30s to dominate the world game... and then lost their place almost immediately and never came close to getting it back.

lol mate, those names mean nothing. I've never heard of any of those players, not 1.
It would be like me sending you the list for the Libertadores final that year (Nacional v. Racing, which was had MUCH higher quality players, as demonstrated by Celtic being destroyed in both pre- intercontinental final friendlies vs. Penarol and I forget what Argentinean team, at Celtic park. (H)
Lisbon 67'- I respect history. Apparently Celtic had a great team then, but to brag about a team that wasn't even close to being the best in the world.....and then using that to state your club's history is unmatched .....well
Filipower 31-10-2010, 03:52:AM Lisbona, Estàdio Nacional
I actually laughed :D
paolo-fcb 31-10-2010, 07:59:AM "Lisbona" is Lisbon in Italian ... and the accents for stress in Italian point the other way: i.e. "á" in Spanish/Portuguese is "à" in Italian ...
funnier is how "Monaco" in Italian could refer to Monaco the pricipality, or Munich in Germany ...
EDIT: or were you laughing at some memory of the stadium? if that's the case, I misunderstood what you were getting at, and you can ignore the above ...
agree with u xifio; if nobody knows the names of the 22 players and the trainers its their own trouble, but really dont believe somebody can ignore Jock Stein and Helenio Herrera, must be joking sure......anyway I respect south-americans team and I know matches like Penarol-Nacional or Boca-River (and if I can I always watch games kind these), but I'm fan
of Celtic, whats the trouble about that?
Filipower I dont remember the team u support but reading your words sure not Benfica....(H)
edit-nobody understood the reason why I opened this thread, read the 1st message please, I wish peace in Ireland and peace amongst Catholic and Protestant peoples.....and Celtic-Rangers MUST be only a football match! My past is my past and cant delete it, now WAR IS OVER and wish love will win forever!

I must say, I've been pretty rude in that sense. Don't mean to insult your love for Celtic mate. Just really don't like how the club and their fans try to show off their club as being something that I dont believe they are.
